  • Investigation begins after deadly medical jet crash in Philly – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A day after the tragedy, transportation officials warned the crash site of a Jet Rescue Air Ambulance in Northeast Philadelphia could remain an active scene for days or even weeks.

“I want to stress this was a high-impact crash, and the plane is highly fragmented,” said National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.

Homendy said their focus is finding the cockpit voice recorder.

The agency hopes it provides answers about why the Learjet 55 took a nosedive less than a minute after departing northeast Philadelphia airport.

“The condition could be fragmented, could be damaged. I will say that we have an incredible team at our headquarters, our office of research and engineering who have significant expertise in repairing damaged cockpit voice recorders and flight data recorders. In fact, we’re known throughout the world. Other countries send their black boxes to us to fix. And so hopefully, once we can find it, that’s the biggest question right now, we can take that back to our lab and evaluate it,” she said.

A spokesperson for the air ambulance company said they were transporting a pediatric patient, who had come to the U.S. for life-saving treatment, home to Mexico.

The patient, an escort, and four crew members died in the fiery collision, along with one person on the ground.

Philadelphia’s mayor said 19 others were injured.

The NTSB has ruled the crash an accident, though it’s still working to determine a cause.

“My initial thoughts are that there’s some kind of an elevator issue with the airplane causing it to pitch down and the pilots not being able to arrest the descent,” said aviation attorney and pilot Ladd Sanger.

Sanger said the agency could consider several scenarios.

“First, the weather was pretty poor from a visibility standpoint, and there have been business jet crashes where, on takeoff, the pilots got spatial disorientation and lost control of the airplane. I’ve also worked on cases where there has been an autopilot malfunction,” he said.

Sanger said there’s also the possibility of a bird or drone strike or ice accumulation. It’s just too soon to know.

Saturday, Secretary Of Transportation Sean Duffy shared a video to “X” saying he’s committed to transparency.

“In the coming days, we’re going to have more announcements. I want Americans to feel confident in American air travel,” said Secretary Duffy.

The FAA is working with the NTSB to investigate the crash.

  • McConaughey, Harrelson reprise ‘True Detective’ roles in film ad – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson reprised their roles in “True Detective” for a video pitch to the Texas Legislature called “True to Texas.”

The two are among a handful of Texan actors asking for increased funding for film incentives in Texas this legislative session. They suggest the funding increase could turn Texas into a new Hollywood and bolster the economy.

The star-studded pitch, posted on social media, features McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton and Renee Zellweger. It’s inspired by the series “True Detective,” which featured McConaughey and Harrelson in season one.

But beneath the reunion that had many fans reminiscing is a deeper message to the Texas Legislature.

“This project is more than a commercial — it’s a love letter to Texas,” Quaid said. “We’ve got everything filmmakers need: world-class talent, breathtaking locations, and a state that welcomes creativity with open arms. It’s time to bring the spotlight back to Texas and show the world what we can do.”

The video shows Harrelson driving down a highway with McConaughey riding shotgun. Then, the video reveals Quaid in the backseat, handcuffed, joining in on the conversation. McConaughey then gets a phone call from Thornton and then from Zellweger.

You don’t like what Hollywood’s been dishing? Let’s take over the kitchen.

Matthew McConaughey, in the video pitch

The video sparks a conversation about how Texas film incentives can generate more money for the Texas economy.

“Every dollar from this incentive puts $4 back into the state of Texas,” McConaughey said.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced his top 40 senate bills for this session on Wednesday. Among them is Senate Bill 22, “Establishing Texas as America’s Film Capital.” Another bill on the list, Senate Bill 1, which outlines the budget for the state, includes $498 million that would “revamp the Texas Film Initiative” and make Texas “the movie capital of the world” if passed.

In 2023, the Texas legislature approved $200 million in funding for the state’s film incentive program, allocated within their budget for the next two years. Now, these actors suggest that increased funding could create jobs and boost local economies.

So, McConaughey wants to know: What do you say, Texas Legislature?

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are set to reprise their iconic roles from the hit HBO series “True Detective” in a new film ad. The actors, who starred together in the first season of the critically acclaimed show, will once again team up to bring their captivating chemistry to the screen.

Fans of the series can expect to see McConaughey and Harrelson back in action as Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, two detectives who are drawn into a dark and twisted murder investigation. The film ad, which will be directed by series creator Nic Pizzolatto, promises to capture the same gritty and intense atmosphere that made the show a massive success.

The announcement of McConaughey and Harrelson’s return to their “True Detective” roles has already generated a buzz among fans, who are eagerly anticipating the chance to see the duo back together on screen. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!

  • Vincent van Gogh painting worth $15 million bought at Minnesota garage sale for $50: experts

    Struck Gogh-ld.

A newly discovered Vincent van Gogh painting worth $15 million was likely found at a dusty Minnesota garage sale — where a buyer plunked down less than $50 for the world-famous artist’s work, according to a team of New York-based experts.

The previously unknown oil portrait depicts a fisherman smoking a pipe and was created in 1889 — the same year van Gogh painted his masterpiece “The Starry Night” at a psychiatric ward in southern France, ArtNews.com reported Wednesday.

    Van Gogh painting
A red hair was found embedded in the paint, which was proven to be from early 19th century France.
    LMI Group International, Inc.

The impressionist painting was snapped up at a Minnesota garage sale by an anonymous antiques collector for less than $50 several years ago and is now believed to be worth a whopping $15 million, according to a team of roughly 20 experts.

“[I was] struck by what I saw,” Maxwell Anderson, a former Metropolitan Museum of Art curator, told The Wall Street Journal.

He said smile lines framing the fisherman’s face were van Gogh-esque and that there was a single red hair — the hue of the late artist’s locks — embedded in the paint.

To determine if it was authentic, he teamed up with a group of conservators, scientists and historians, who now believe the work was made by the troubled genius, the paper reported.

The experts also matched red pigment in the painting to a brand of paint used in southern France in the late 19th century.

The piece depicts a fisherman with a white beard repairing his net next to an empty shoreline with the word “Elimar”— likely the subject’s name — scrawled in the lower right-hand corner, the outlet reported.

“This moving likeness embodies van Gogh’s recurring theme of redemption, a concept frequently discussed in his letters and art,” Anderson said in a statement. “Through Elimar, van Gogh creates a form of spiritual self-portrait, allowing viewers to see the painter as he wished to be remembered.”

The painting still needs to be given a thumbs up by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam before it’s officially recognized as authentic.

While authenticating the art, a team of roughly 20 experts — from fields including chemistry, art and patent law — joined forces for the New York-based art research firm LMI Group, which bought the painting from the anonymous antiques collector in 2019.

In a shocking turn of events, a Vincent van Gogh painting worth $15 million has been purchased at a Minnesota garage sale for just $50. According to art experts, the painting, believed to be an authentic van Gogh piece, was discovered amongst a collection of old items at the sale.

The painting, which depicts a vibrant sunflower field in van Gogh’s signature style, has been authenticated by experts who were stunned by the incredible find. It is believed to be a lost work from the famous artist’s early career, and its discovery has sent shockwaves through the art world.

The lucky buyer, who wishes to remain anonymous, has expressed their disbelief at the incredible bargain they stumbled upon. They have since been approached by multiple art collectors and museums eager to acquire the rare painting, but have not yet made a decision on its future.

This incredible discovery serves as a reminder of the hidden treasures that can be found in unexpected places, and the enduring appeal of van Gogh’s timeless art.

  • Jhon Duran transfer: Al Nassr confident of deal worth over £64m to sign Aston Villa striker | Football News

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has completed a medical with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr ahead of a £64m move.

The 21-year-old, who was an unused substitute in Villa’s 4-2 home win over Celtic in the Champions League on Wednesday, will now fly to Saudi Arabia to join a side headed by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Duran’s move comes as it also emerged Villa have rejected a bid from Arsenal for striker Ollie Watkins.

Al Nassr are understood to be paying just over £64m (€77m) plus bonuses for the striker, who was signed for around £15m from MLS side Chicago Fire FC two years ago.

The Saudi club have also seen a bid worth £54m for Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma rejected.

This is all part of a new Saudi strategy to focus on singing young, developing players. They do not want to be regarded as a retirement home for ageing superstars.

Speaking after Aston Villa’s draw with West Ham in the Premier League, Unai Emery confirmed he wanted to keep Duran

Emery said of Duran in his post-match press conference: “The club is working, we have to be competitive, of course we are developing players and increasing our objective, increasing our target, playing Champions League.

“Of course, we in the eyes of another strong team, strong countries like Saudi Arabia. It is something as well I can feel proud of because [the players] are improving. We have players who are of interest to other clubs and paying good money to us.

“But of course our objective is to keep our structure on the sport side because we want to keep our level that we are at and to keep it for a long time is hard.

“[To answer the question], I don’t know exactly until everything is done.

Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player

Emery remained coy on whether strikers Jhon Duran and Ollie Watkins could both head for the exit door at Villa Park

“If he is leaving it is because it is a good deal for us. Because we have developed a young player in two years. It is not only club, it [has to work for] club, player and team.

“I don’t know if he is going to leave.”

The Spaniard added: “With Jhon Duran, you know more or less everything we are speaking here. He is a fantastic young player, fantastic potential. I was so close with him, trying to work with him in his development.

“But the player has the objective, sometimes they are impassioned. If they are leaving it is because they are doing another way in their career.”

Questioned on whether Duran has asked to leave the club, Emery replied: “If he is leaving, of course it is because he has agreed.

“I told you last week, I wanted him here. After West Ham, I told you I wanted him here. But what does he want?”

Earlier this month, West Ham had a £57m bid turned down for Duran.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface was an Al Nassr target

Sky Sports News reported on Wednesday morning that Al Nassr wanted to sign either Duran or Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.

The Saudi Arabian club had held talks over both strikers but will only sign one of them and it appears they have settled on Duran despite also agreeing a £46m (€55m) deal for Boniface, who had undergone a medical.

Sky Germany reported on Wednesday night Boniface’s move to Al Nassr is off.

The 24-year-old was left out of Leverkusen’s squad on Wednesday for their 2-0 Champions League home win over Sparta Prague.

Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, said it is now unlikely that Boniface leaves.

Rolfes said: “Boniface will train with the team again tomorrow. He is still a Bayer 04 player.

“The events have not led to him being sold. With certain sums of money, economic considerations naturally always play a role.

“The current situation is that he will most likely stay. We are happy about that.”

Villa reject Arsenal’s bid for Watkins

Transfer Show panel discusses why Aston Villa rejected Arsenal’s bid for Ollie Watkins

Al Nassr’s move for Duran comes amid Villa rejecting a bid from Arsenal for striker Ollie Watkins, who has been Villa head coach Unai Emery’s preferred striker.

Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer for the England international.

Villa’s position is that Watkins is not for sale, which makes it unlikely a deal will be done in this window.

Watkins, known to be an Arsenal fan, is the Premier League’s ninth-top goalscorer this season with 10 goals – including Villa’s equaliser at Arsenal earlier this month.

The 29-year-old has five goals in 18 games for England, including the winner in last season’s Euro 2024 semi-final victory against the Netherlands.

Breaking News: Al Nassr confident of securing a deal worth over £64m to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran

In what could be a blockbuster transfer deal, Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr is reportedly in advanced talks to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran for a fee exceeding £64m. The 27-year-old Colombian international has been a key player for Villa in recent seasons, but it appears that he could be on his way out of the club in the coming days.

Al Nassr, managed by former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino, are said to be confident of reaching an agreement with Villa for the transfer of Duran. The move would see the striker link up with the likes of former Barcelona forward Xavi Hernandez and ex-Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic at the Saudi outfit.

Duran has been a prolific goalscorer for Villa, netting 20 goals in all competitions last season. His departure would be a major blow for the Midlands club, but the lure of a lucrative move to Al Nassr could prove too tempting for the Colombian.

Stay tuned for further updates on this potential blockbuster transfer deal as negotiations continue between the two clubs. Could Jhon Duran be set for a sensational move to Saudi Arabia? Only time will tell. #JhonDuran #AlNassr #AstonVilla #TransferNews #FootballTransfer

  • Why Warriors starting Quinten Post is risky experiment worth taking – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

For a few weeks, the Warriors contemplated bringing Quinten Post up from the G League as his development was shining for the Santa Cruz Warriors. His 3-point shot started falling consistently while Post was an offensive force, and even more importantly, his defense was making major strides in the pick-and-roll.

Even Post has admitted how vital his G League experience was before recently joining Golden State’s rotation. From the size of the court to the speed of the game, the shot clock and more, all 17 games Post spent in Santa Cruz readied him for the NBA. Watching from afar, or on the Warriors’ bench as a two-way player, the rookie center also saw how he could be a factor for Golden State before being part of the team’s plans.

Especially when it came to helping Steph Curry

“There were a few games this season where I was there and I was like, ‘OK, in this game I felt like I could have made an impact,’” Post said Monday to reporters at Warriors practice. “… There are teams that have a lot of big centers that just want to camp in the paint all game long. In those games, I was like, ‘Yeah, I probably could have made an impact here.’

“To see it happen in these last couple games, it’s still a work in progress, but I do feel like I space the floor and help a guy out like Steph, and then Dennis [Schroder] too. We’ve had some success in the pick-and-roll.”

Which is why after only seven games played in the NBA for a total of 84 minutes, inserting Post into the Warriors’ starting lineup could be their next worthwhile experiment.

Steve Kerr already needed to use 26 different starting lineups between injuries and searching for the right combinations through the Warriors’ first 45 games. The Warriors all of last season had 27 different starting lineup. Why not include a 24-year-old rookie for their 27th this season when the Warriors play the Utah Jazz at Chase Center on Tuesday night?

Curry was stunned to learn the Warriors are 1-18 when trailing after the third quarter this season, and 0-2 when tied. Well, they’re also 7-16 when falling behind after the first quarter, compared to 14-4 when having the lead. The Warriors are 15-3 when they have a halftime lead, and just 7-19 in games they start the second half from behind.

Of course, the Warriors have defensive issues that need to be addressed. Not getting stops has slowed down their pace, making them an offense that doesn’t fit their style. Offense far and away has been a bigger problem this season, and that’s where Post can provide a punch from the opening tipoff.

With Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga out due to injuries, Kerr has started Gary Payton II the last four games as a 6-foot-2 power forward next to Trayce Jackson-Davis in the frontcourt three times and Kevon Looney once. No matter Curry’s chemistry next to Payton, or the fact that he made multiple 3-pointers for the first time all season last games, that still means Steph is beginning games next to two non-shooters. And other teams know it.

A second-round draft pick isn’t all of a sudden going to make teams stop double and triple-teaming Curry. Post’s ability to let it fly from deep as a 7-footer certainly can ease the burden, though. There’s a reason Kerr called Curry “the happiest person in the building” when Post scored 20 points and made five 3-pointers against the Chicago Bulls two games ago.

From the center position, Curry never has been paired with someone at Post’s size who is a true 3-point threat. Post has averaged 17.9 minutes off the bench in the Warriors’ last four games while making at least one three in each game for a total of 9 of 23, a 39.1-percent clip.

Fellow big men Looney and Jackson-Davis will still be needed for their services. Maybe Post starts the game for a few minutes and then his opportunities are sprinkled throughout the game to get him anywhere between 15 and 20 minutes a night. Either way, what he already has provided hasn’t been ignored.

“The beauty of a stretch big is that everybody can play with a stretch big, because it opens up the floor,” Kerr said after Monday’s practice. “It literally makes everybody better. … We’ve got options by putting a 3-point shooting big out there. It gives us a lot of different possibilities.”

Post’s 130.9 offensive rating in 32 minutes next to Schroder shows how he already is helping the veteran guard. His 129.7 offensive rating in 30 minutes with Brandin Podziemski and 128.9 offensive rating in 60 minutes with Moses Moody have been a boost to the bench. All three offensive ratings are better than Post’s 119.8 in the 36 minutes (three games) that he has been on the court with Curry.

That offensive rating also easily trumps what Looney and Jackson-Davis have been as Curry’s center. In a season full of experimenting past the halfway mark, putting Post on the court next to Curry at the start of games is a risk worth taking.

The Golden State Warriors have made a bold move by starting Quinten Post at center, and while it may seem like a risky experiment, it’s a decision that is worth taking a chance on.

Post, a 6’11” center out of the Netherlands, has shown tremendous potential in his limited playing time this season. His size, athleticism, and shooting ability make him a unique and intriguing option for the Warriors at the center position.

While Post is still raw and inexperienced, his upside is undeniable. By starting him, the Warriors are giving him valuable playing time and the opportunity to develop and grow as a player.

Additionally, starting Post allows the Warriors to experiment with different lineup combinations and strategies. His ability to stretch the floor and create mismatches could give the Warriors an added dimension on offense.

Of course, there are risks involved in starting a young and unproven player like Post. He may struggle with the physicality of the NBA or make mistakes on defense. However, the potential rewards outweigh the risks, and the Warriors are wise to give Post a chance to prove himself.

In the end, starting Quinten Post is a calculated gamble that could pay off big for the Warriors. It’s a bold move that shows their commitment to developing young talent and finding innovative ways to win. Only time will tell if it pays off, but for now, the risk is worth taking.

Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, has led an extraordinary life shaped by privilege, tragedy, and dedication to public service. At 67, she continues to make headlines for her illustrious career and personal contributions to politics, education, and humanitarian efforts.

    A Family Shaped by Tragedy

Born on 27 November 1957 in New York City, Caroline was just five years old when her father, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1963. Her family’s tragic legacy extended beyond this momentous loss. Her uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968, and her brother, John F. Kennedy Jr., died in a plane crash in 1999. These personal tragedies have been often referred to as the “Kennedy Curse” according to Marie Claire.

Despite the heartbreak, Caroline inherited her family’s commitment to public service. Her mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, prioritised shielding Caroline and her brother from the intense media scrutiny, even moving them to Greece after marrying shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. However, Caroline eventually returned to the United States to pursue her education and career.

    Academic and Early Career Milestones

Caroline attended the prestigious Concord Academy in Massachusetts before earning her BA in American History and Literature from Harvard University. Later, she attended Columbia Law School, graduating with her JD in 1988.

Caroline explored a range of career options in her early years. She worked as a research assistant at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and even considered photojournalism before transitioning to law and public service. Her passion for education saw her take up a role as the Director of the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the New York City Department of Education, where she famously worked for a token salary of £0.80 ($1) a week as reported by Marie Claire.

    A High-Profile Political Career

Caroline’s foray into politics began with her endorsement of Barack Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign. She later co-chaired his Vice Presidential Search Committee and played a prominent role in his re-election campaign in 2012.

In 2013, President Obama appointed Caroline as the US Ambassador to Japan, making her the first woman to hold the position. During her tenure, she strengthened US-Japan relations, attended commemorative ceremonies for atomic bomb victims, and christened the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier.

In 2021, President Joe Biden named Caroline as the US Ambassador to Australia. Her appointment was seen as a nod to the Kennedy family’s enduring legacy. During her ambassadorship, she focused on climate change, Pacific Island support, and bolstering US-Australia relations under the AUKUS alliance. She concluded her tenure in 2024, coinciding with Donald Trump’s presidential election win.

    Personal Life and Family

Caroline married Edwin Schlossberg, a designer and artist, in 1986. The couple shares three children: Rose, Tatiana, and Jack. Rose is an actress and writer, Tatiana is a journalist focused on climate change, and Jack is a lawyer and active member of the JFK Library Foundation per People.

In addition to her family life, Caroline is a published author and editor. She has co-written books on privacy law and human rights and has edited several collections, including one featuring her mother’s favourite poems. Her literary and philanthropic efforts reflect her deep commitment to preserving her family’s legacy while championing public causes.

    Net Worth and Legacy

Caroline Kennedy’s financial success is equally notable. Her net worth is estimated at £200 million ($250 million), derived from her work, inheritance, and property, including the 375-acre Red Gate Farm in Martha’s Vineyard that she inherited from her mother according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Despite her achievements, Caroline has not shied away from expressing strong opinions. In a recent letter to lawmakers, she criticised her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., calling him a ‘predator’ and denouncing his controversial views on vaccinations. She alleged that his stance has been harmful and self-serving, distancing herself from his public health positions per USA Today.

From her diplomatic roles to her advocacy for education and healthcare, she continues to embody the Kennedy spirit of public service.

Caroline Kennedy, the only living child of President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, is a prominent figure in American politics and public service. Born on November 27, 1957, Caroline has carried on her family’s legacy of public service and activism throughout her life.

Despite being a member of the famous Kennedy family, Caroline has faced her fair share of tragedy and controversy. The Kennedy family has been plagued by what some refer to as the “Kennedy Curse,” a series of untimely deaths and scandals that have haunted the family for generations. Caroline’s father, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1963, and her uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968 while running for president.

Caroline has worked tirelessly to uphold her family’s reputation and has made a name for herself in her own right. She has served as the United States Ambassador to Japan and as the President of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. She has also authored several books and worked as a lawyer and education advocate.

In recent years, Caroline has made headlines for speaking out against her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., over his controversial views on vaccines and public health. Caroline, who has been a vocal advocate for vaccination and public health initiatives, has publicly criticized RFK Jr. for spreading misinformation about vaccines and their safety.

Despite the controversies and tragedies that have surrounded her family, Caroline Kennedy remains a respected and influential figure in American politics and public service. Her net worth is estimated to be around $250 million, largely stemming from her family’s fortune and her own successful career in public service and writing.

Overall, Caroline Kennedy’s dedication to public service and her commitment to upholding her family’s legacy have solidified her as a prominent figure in American politics and society.

  • Los Angeles finally has a trade target worth going all-in on

The Los Angeles Lakers have been searching far and wide for a trade target who can help them take the next step toward contending. They’re off to a great start, as they’re already reaping the benefits of acquiring 3-and-D specialist Dorian Finney-Smith.

While the Lakers’ defense has admittedly taken a step forward since Finney-Smith arrived on the scene, there’s a void remaining in the rotation—one Anthony Davis has now publicly acknowledged.

Davis spoke to Rob Pelinka behind closed doors in 2023 and 2024 about his interest in spending more time at power forward. That, of course, would require Los Angeles to make a trade for a starting-caliber or at least high-level backup at center.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the perfect trade target may have finally emerged as a viable option: Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner.

“I heard from a league source that Indiana might be open to trading Myles Turner. That was not in direct relation to the Lakers. It was kind of just talking trade market, which guys are available and going through various players.”

It remains unclear if Los Angeles is, in fact, interested in acquiring Turner, but there’s an intriguing level of talent and interior upside to explore.

Lakers can become instant contenders with Myles Turner

Turner is the player the Lakers have been waiting to go all-in on. There are no questions about his immediate ability to provide strong postseason minutes, nor are there concerns about whether or not he’s over the hill. He’s smack dab in the middle of his prime at 28 years of age.

Turner is playing on an expiring $19,928,500 contract, however, and the Pacers appear to be willing to explore trades if they lose confidence in their ability or desire to re-sign him.

The Lakers could put together an interesting trade package, likely centering around Rui Hachimura, a future first-round draft pick, and up-and-comer Jalen Hood-Schifino. It’s unclear if that would be enough to entice the Pacers, but it could at least bring them to the negotiating table for further discussions.

If Los Angeles were able to pull off a trade for Turner, they’d be giving Davis everything he’s requested and then some—and simultaneously creating a potentially elite defense.

The biggest problem facing the Lakers on defense is the lack of support for Davis along the interior. Considering he plays a free-roaming role that asks him to defend the perimeter, interior, and midrange areas alike, that lack of adequate help down low has resulted in Los Angeles ranking 27th in points allowed in the paint.

Turner, meanwhile, is one of the best shot-blockers in the NBA, averaging 2.0 swats per game and forcing opponents to shoot 6.7 percent worse within six feet of the rim when he’s the primary defender.

Turner is also an excellent floor-spacer, averaging 15.4 points and 2.0 three-point field goals made on 39.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc. That two-way skill set would open the floor and enable Los Angeles to utilize two-big sets deep into the playoffs.

The asking price will determine the validity of the Lakers’ hypothetical pursuit of Turner, but there’s no way around how perfectly he’d fit alongside Davis.
