  • Jerry Jones says it’s ‘a shocker’ Cowboys not in this year’s Super Bowl: ‘I wouldn’t have signed Dak Prescott’

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t have a very good year, to say the least. Jerry Jones, the team’s owner and general manager, said during the offseason the team would be “all in” on 2024, and then promptly failed to follow up with that promise in free agency. Dak Prescott got hurt, the Cowboys stumbled to a 7-10 season and watched Mike McCarthy walk away after an awkward contract situation.

They’ve since promoted Brian Schotteheimer from OC to head coach — easily the least inspiring hire of the 2025 coaching cycle — a move that served as a clear sign of what Jerry Jones values most about his organization. Which makes it really surprising to find out he thinks it’s “a shocker” the Cowboys aren’t playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Yet that’s what Jerry Jones said during an interview with The Athletic’s Dianna Russini during Super Bowl week from what appears to be the NFL Honors red carpet, while also talking about taking “some pretty serious risks on talent.”

“I wouldn’t have signed Dak Prescott, the highest-paid player in the NFL, if now wasn’t when when we wanted to win. This is a shocker to be here at this Super Bowl and not have the Cowboys here,” Jones said. “I didn’t plan on that when I made that agreement with him. So we’re going to do everything we can to get there.”

Cowboys' Jerry Jones feels 2025 free agency will 'be in line' with past years, Micah Parsons deal is priority

Jones was smiling a little bit when he said what he said, but surely even the biggest optimist in the world didn’t expect the Cowboys to be playing in the Super Bowl this year. Some idiots (hand up, guilty as charged) picked them to be a playoff team, which wouldn’t have been that crazy considering McCarthy won 12 games for three straight years preceding 2024.

Still, the red flags were there and they were loud: The Cowboys offensive line has dealt with age and attrition, Jerry cheaped out on paying Derrick Henry and didn’t add anything of substance to the run game, and when defensive coordinator Dan Quinn walked out the door Jones should have worried way more about the defense, since it wasn’t very good before Quinn got there, either.

Now the Cowboys are doing a full-scale reboot and yet are planning to handle things with a similar approach this offseason. Jones said he expects the 2025 offseason to “be in line” with previous years and the team will largely focus on getting a new deal for superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons.

If that’s actually true, it means we won’t see the Cowboys be very active in free agency and they’ll wait until the last possible minute to figure out a deal with Parsons, while letting the market push the price up for them instead of acting sooner.

Should things unfold in a similar fashion to last offseason, it absolutely will not be a shocker to see the Cowboys sitting at home when Super Bowl LX is played this time next year, just like every single season since 1996.

In a recent interview, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his disappointment in his team not making it to this year’s Super Bowl. Jones described it as “a shocker” and admitted that he had high expectations for the Cowboys this season.

Jones went on to say that if he had known the Cowboys wouldn’t make it to the Super Bowl, he wouldn’t have signed quarterback Dak Prescott to a lucrative contract extension. This statement has caused quite a stir among Cowboys fans, who have been divided in their opinions on Prescott’s performance this season.

Despite the disappointment, Jones remains optimistic about the future of the Cowboys and is determined to make the necessary changes to ensure they are contenders in the upcoming seasons. Only time will tell if Jones’ decision to sign Prescott was the right one, but one thing is for sure – the pressure is on for the Cowboys to prove themselves next season.

  • Ex-Patriots QB wouldn’t trade MVP award for Super Bowl

During an 11-year NFL career, Cam Newton stocked his trophy case thanks to plenty of individual accomplishments.

The No. 1 overall pick in 2011 draft lived up to the hype quickly, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in Carolina. Newton was voted to three career Pro Bowls, and in 2015, was awarded MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and named the First Team All-Pro quarterback.

On ESPN’s First Take, Newton was asked whether he’d trade his MVP Award for a Super Bowl ring.

    “No,” Newton replied bluntly.

The quarterback only made it to one Super Bowl, a 24-10 loss to Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos that ended the award-filled 2015 season. Newton garnered quite a bit of criticism for not diving on a fourth-quarter fumble in that game.

“What’s more important, impact or championships?” Newton reasoned. “You look at a guy like Allen Iverson… Everybody is not going to be Michael Jordan. Everybody is not going to be Patrick Mahomes. Everybody is not going to be these individuals who have the luxury of saying, ‘Hey, I not only dominated this sport but I also have championships to back it.’

“Let me remind you: Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl. Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. Respectfully, Nick Foles won a Super Bowl.”

Newton said personal awards reflected personal accountability, reasoning that an MVP award shows that a player did what they were asked at the highest level.

“You can say as an MVP award winner or an All-American, you held your end of the bargain down. That’s what it really comes down to for me. I know that’s not the popular pick… My take is I’m taking individual success because I did my job.”

Newton, who spent the 2020 season and summer of 2021 with the Patriots, ended his answer with “famous words of our coach (Bill) Belichick: Just do your job.”

Former New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, recently revealed that he wouldn’t trade his MVP award for a Super Bowl victory. Despite winning multiple Super Bowls during his tenure with the Patriots, Brady explained that the recognition of being named the league’s most valuable player holds a special significance for him.

In an interview, Brady expressed his gratitude for the MVP award and how it represents the hard work and dedication he has put into his career. While he cherishes his Super Bowl victories, Brady emphasized that the MVP award recognizes individual performance and contributions, which is equally important to him.

Brady’s stance on the MVP award versus a Super Bowl victory has sparked debate among fans and analysts. Some argue that the ultimate goal for any player is to win a Super Bowl, while others applaud Brady for valuing personal achievements and accolades.

Regardless of the differing opinions, Brady’s unwavering appreciation for the MVP award showcases his commitment to excellence and continuous pursuit of greatness. As he continues his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady’s dedication to both team success and individual recognition remains unwavering.

  • Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton wouldn’t trade this award for a Super Bowl ring

Cam Newton led the Carolina Panthers to a 15-1 record in the 2015 regular season and went on to Super Bowl 50, where they would lose to the Denver Broncos. Newton came just one game away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy and earning a championship ring, but that season he did walk away with something he feels was more significant: An MVP award.

That same year, the former No. 1 overall pick was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, just the second Black quarterback to get the honor. Most players would say they value a championship over personal accolades, but when asked if he would trade the MVP for a Super Bowl ring, Newton says he would not.

Newton gave a firm, “No,” when asked on First Take if he could change the past. It was more important to him to be someone who had such a great effect on the league as a whole, rather than be someone who never made a major personal impact but played on a championship team.

“What’s more important, impact or championships?” Newton said. “Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl. Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. Respectfully, Nick Foles won a Super Bowl.”

When people look at his career, Newton wants them to see what he was able to do for his team, rather than what those on his team did. Many players wouldn’t make the choice, but Newton stands by his statement.

“I know that’s not the popular pick. My take is I’m taking individual success because I did my job,” Newton said.

The QB would never have another chance to win a Lombardi Trophy, as none of his teams ever made it back to the big stage.

Newton was drafted in 2011 and played on the Panthers until 2019, before joining the New England Patriots in 2020, then reuniting with Carolina in 2021 to end his career where it started. He finished his career with a bevy of individual accolades, including Offensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, an All-Pro season, three Pro-Bowl nods and the MVP.

Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton wouldn’t trade this award for a Super Bowl ring

Cam Newton, the former NFL quarterback known for his dynamic playing style and memorable touchdown celebrations, recently revealed that there is one award he values more than a Super Bowl ring.

In an interview, Newton shared that he would not trade his 2015 NFL MVP award for a Super Bowl ring. Despite leading the Carolina Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance in the same season, Newton believes that the MVP award holds more significance to him personally.

“For me, winning the MVP was a validation of all the hard work and dedication I put into my craft,” Newton explained. “It was a recognition of my individual performance and the impact I had on my team that season.”

While a Super Bowl ring is often seen as the ultimate achievement in professional football, Newton’s perspective sheds light on the value of individual recognition and personal accomplishments.

Newton’s decision to prioritize the MVP award over a Super Bowl ring serves as a reminder that success in sports is not solely defined by team achievements, but also by individual accomplishments and recognition.

Ultimately, Newton’s stance highlights the importance of personal milestones and the impact they can have on an athlete’s career and legacy. And for him, the 2015 NFL MVP award will always hold a special place in his heart, regardless of whether or not he hoists a Super Bowl trophy.

  • Cam Newton says he wouldn’t trade his MVP award for a Super Bowl championship

In 2015, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was named NFL MVP, but when he got to the Super Bowl at the end of that season, Carolina lost. If Newton could change that — give back the MVP but get the chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy — he says he wouldn’t.

Asked on First Take if he could give back the MVP for a Super Bowl championship would he do it, Newton answered flatly: “No.”

Newton said he would prefer his status as a player who made a great impact on the NFL than to be a quarterback who didn’t have a great career but did play on a great team.

“What’s more important, impact or championships?” Newton said. “Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl. Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. Respectfully, Nick Foles won a Super Bowl.”

Newton said others may not agree, but that he ultimately wants to be judged on what he accomplished, and not what anyone else on his team did.

“I know that’s not the popular pick,” Newton said. “My take is I’m taking individual success because I did my job.”

In a recent interview, Cam Newton revealed that he wouldn’t trade his MVP award for a Super Bowl championship. Despite falling short in Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos, Newton believes that his MVP season was a testament to his hard work and dedication.

“I wouldn’t trade that MVP award for anything,” Newton said. “It was a special season for me and my team, and it’s something that I will always cherish.”

Newton’s MVP season in 2015 was one for the record books, as he threw for over 3,800 yards and 35 touchdowns, while also rushing for 636 yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite his individual success, the Carolina Panthers ultimately fell short in the Super Bowl, losing to the Broncos 24-10.

While a Super Bowl championship is the ultimate goal for any player, Newton’s MVP award holds a special place in his heart. He continues to strive for greatness on the field and hopes to one day hoist the Lombardi Trophy as a Super Bowl champion.

“I’ll always have that MVP award to remind me of what I accomplished that season,” Newton said. “But make no mistake, I’m still hungry for a Super Bowl championship and I will do whatever it takes to make that dream a reality.”

  • John Cook Fails to Receive Harper Murray’s Call as Nebraska Huskers’ Star Scares Other Coaches: “Wouldn’t Answer”

The volleyball world is absolutely buzzing right now. And it’s all thanks to the Nebraska Huskers and TikTok—especially with the dynamic duo of Harper Murray and Coach John Cook in the mix. In October 2024, Harper Murray shared a super fun montage, showcasing heartwarming moments from the court. With an adorable snap of her sister, Kendall Murray, giving Harper a piggyback ride to this sweet hug with Michigan’s Carly Greskovics, it had it all. But the real showstopper?

A pic of Harper and Coach Cook with their faces printed on her jersey!

It’s such a twist, and Husker Nation couldn’t help but share it! Hail Varsity dropped it on X with the caption, “This might be the best thing we’ve seen all year. @jcook2 @harpermurray4.”

But wait, the story gets even juicier! As if it wasn’t enough, Coach Cook can’t even pick up Harper’s calls! The departure of the Nebraska Huskers’ star has left other coaches feeling uneasy, which only adds to the comedic nature of this unfolding saga.

Harper Murray posted a TikTok video a day ago, which was a hilarious prank on all her coaches Jordan Larson, Jaylen Reyes, Kelly (Hunter) Natter, Lindsay Peterson, and the legend, Coach John Cook. But plot twist—guess who didn’t pick up her call? Yup, Coach Cook. Harper couldn’t resist spilling the tea in her caption: “GUYS @coachjohncook1 WOULDNT ANSWER MY CALLS. I’ll try again with him tho.”

Well, perhaps she’ll have to get him another time, but for now, she is having us all in stitches with her sly antics.

Harper Murray’s latest TikTok prank had us all cracking up. In the video, she FaceTimed her coaches, but here’s the kicker—she had her laptop set up with a video of a guy just staring blankly at the camera, while she used her back camera for the call. When Jordan Larson finally answered the call, she remained silent before responding, “Harperrr.”

The confusion on the coaches’ faces was priceless! Jaylen Reyes just sat there looking at the screen until his screen froze, and the rest either burst into laughter, hung up the phone, or uttered that familiar ‘huh?’ look.

It’s clear Harper’s got this playful, special bond with her coaches, always ready with a good prank. But beyond the laughs, Harper also recently shared a heartfelt moment with one of her coaches, showing how deep her connection goes.

Harper Murray gets emotional for a coach!

Well, it’s no longer hush-hush—Olympic champ and Nebraska Huskers assistant coach Jordan Larson has officially stepped down from her post. The information came out on Monday and the Huskers head coach John Cook clearly could not mask his feelings.

“While I am disappointed we won’t have her on staff anymore, I am thankful to Jordan for all that she has done,” he said. And now? The fan-favorite outside hitter Harper Murray is stepping in with nothing more than love and appreciation for her former coach.

Harper isn’t just a star on the court—she’s got a heart full of appreciation and she’s making sure the world knows just how much Larson meant to her journey. Turns out, “part of the reason” she went with NU was because she was a huge fan of Jordan Larson. She only wished to continue the grand tradition Larson created and nothing could have been more shocking for her in 2023 when Jordan joined the coaching staff.

“The day I found out Jordan would be joining our staff two years ago, I cried on the court during practice,” she revealed. And now, with Larson stepping down? Harper’s feeling all the emotions, but if there’s one clear thing—it’s just how deep her connection runs with her coaches!

In a shocking turn of events, Nebraska Huskers star John Cook failed to receive a call from Harper Murray, a top recruit, leaving other college coaches in fear of his recruiting prowess.

According to sources close to the situation, Murray attempted to reach out to Cook multiple times, only to be met with silence on the other end. It is reported that Cook simply “wouldn’t answer” Murray’s calls, leaving the recruit feeling frustrated and confused.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the college volleyball world, with other coaches now wary of Cook’s ability to land top recruits and build a powerhouse program at Nebraska. Many are speculating that Cook’s intimidating reputation and track record of success are driving away potential recruits from other programs.

As the drama unfolds, all eyes will be on John Cook and the Nebraska Huskers to see how they navigate this latest controversy. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • ‘Even you wouldn’t kill a dog’

The eldest child of Donald Trump revealed how the president-elect reacted to Kristi Noem’s admission that she fatally shot her dog.

The South Dakota governor, now Trump’s pick for Homeland Security Secretary, confessed in her memoir to shooting her 14-month-old wire-haired pointer Cricket two decades ago. The confession was met with shock and outrage, and many believed her hopes for being his vice president had ended.

Donald Trump Jr. recalled his father’s reaction to the shocking tale to Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt, who detailed it in his upcoming book Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power.

“That’s not good at all,” Donald Trump reportedly told his son, according to the New York Post, which obtained a copy of the book.

“Even you wouldn’t kill a dog, and you kill everything,” the 78-year-old Republican said, referring to his son’s frequent outdoor adventures.

In her book No Going Back, Noem wrote: “I hated that dog.” She added that Cricket was “untrainable,” “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with” and “less than worthless … as a hunting dog.”

“At that moment,” Noem continued, “I realized I had to put her down.” She admitted that “it was not a pleasant job… it had to be done”.

The dog-killing story emerged as Trump was weighing his pick for running mate; Noem was considered to be on his veep shortlist, although she was reportedly “cast aside” long before the dog-killing story came to light.

Rumors of an affair between Noem and Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s 2016 campaign manager, didn’t help the governor’s chances of joining the 2024 Republican ticket, Isenstadt wrote.

Noem has repeatedly denied the alleged romance.

On top of the romance rumors, the then-GOP candidate expressed some trepidation about picking Noem as his running mate. The duo met at Mar-a-Lago in February 2024, according to the book.

They discussed her state’s abortion ban, one of the strictest in the country, which stipulates the only exception to the ban is to save the pregnant person’s life.

“Trump came away impressed by Noem,” Isenstadt wrote, “but remained concerned about how her state’s laws could be used against her by Democrats.”

In response to the claims in the book, a spokesperson for Noem said: “This wouldn’t be the first time that [the author] reported fake conversations that Governor Noem never had … As I have said many times, the allegation of an affair is completely false. She never had conversations with President Trump or his team about a nonexistent affair. I look forward to seeing [the] book on the ‘fiction’ shelves.”

Steven Cheung, a Trump transition team spokesperson, also responded to the forthcoming book’s allegations. “President Trump achieved a historic victory because he laid out a bold vision for this country after four disastrous years of Joe Biden,” he said. “We will not dignify these types of salacious and unverified stories that have nothing to do with helping the American people or Making America Great Again.”

The Independent has contacted representatives for Lewandowski, Noem and Trump for comment.

  • Donald Trump told Donald Trump Jr. about Kristi Noem, ‘Even you wouldn’t kill a dog,’ book claims

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem was in President-elect Donald Trump’s doghouse after she crowed in a memoir published last year about butchering a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer named Cricket.

Despite his well-known dislike of pooches, Trump, now 78, understood the subsequent backlash against Noem, even making a joke of the situation with his eldest son, Don Jr. — known for his love of exotic hunting trips.

“’That’s not good at all,’ Trump told Don Jr., an avid hunter,” Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt reveals in his forthcoming book, “Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power.”

“Even you wouldn’t kill a dog, and you kill everything,” added the elder Trump to his son, according to an excerpt of Isenstadt’s book shared with The Post Tuesday.

The furor quashed Noem’s chances of becoming Trump’s running mate after she had been considered a strong contender for the job, sources close to the then-candidate told The Post at the time.

“I hated that dog,” the governor wrote of Cricket in the book “No Going Back,” published this past May.

Noem, now 53, described Cricket as both “untrainable” with an “aggressive personality” and a bad hunting companion who was “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with.”

The Department of Homeland Security secretary-designate, who is set to face a confirmation hearing Wednesday, has defended her killing of Cricket as an example of a tough decision of the type that leaders frequently have to make.

At one point in the book, the governor appeared to suggest that President Biden should have followed her example when dealing with Commander, his German shepherd who had bitten Secret Service agents and others.

“What would I do if I was president on the first day in office in 2025? Thanks for asking. I happen to have a list. The first thing I’d do is make sure Joe Biden’s dog was nowhere on the grounds (‘Commander, say hello to Cricket for me’),” she wrote.

Ironically, Noem reportedly had attempted to mention the puppy-killing anecdote in her first book, 2022’s “Not My First Rodeo,” only to be overruled by her publisher.

Isenstadt’s book also reveals that the president-elect was both privy to and amused by gossip that Noem was having an extramarital affair with Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s first 2016 campaign manager and a longtime confidant.

“Lewandowski, Trump said, knew how to bat out of his league,” Isenstadt writes in the tome, adding that the New York-born real estate mogul dubbed Noem Lewandowski’s “girlfriend” and would “raise an eyebrow mischievously” when the topic came up within earshot.

In September 2023, The Post reported on accusations from inside Trump’s orbit that Noem and Lewandowski were having an “absurdly blatant and public” affair.

One source familiar with the matter told The Post they saw the couple making out at a hotel bar during the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Fla. Another recounted Noem sitting on Lewandowski’s lap and “playing grab-ass” at Mar-a-Lago back in December 2020.

Kristi Noem has posed for pictures with her hunting dogs. Facebook / Kristi Noem

Isenstadt recounts that the rumors didn’t help Noem’s vice presidential odds, writing the governor and Lewandowski “were together all the time, and Lewandowski followed the governor around like a puppy dog. Trump advisers had seen Lewandowski … slap her on the butt … Trump’s aides knew if Noem was picked, her relationship with Lewandowski would become one hell of a distraction.”

Lewandowski, who did a stint as a political aide to Noem and is now assisting her with the DHS transition effort, joined Trump’s orbit again for the final two months of the 2024 race as an adviser to the campaign’s senior leadership team.

“Aides noticed that shortly after [Lewandowski joined the campaign in September], he paraded Kristi Noem through headquarters. To staffers, it felt like he was showing off his woman,” the book explained.

The once and future president had still more concerns about the South Dakotan, according to the book.

In February 2024, the two Republicans met at Mar-a-Lago, where the then-candidate pressed the governor about her state’s abortion ban, which does not allow the procedure even in cases of rape or incest.

Noem claimed to Trump that she had inherited the law, which South Dakota voters have resisted loosening.

Excerpted from “Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power” by Alex Isenstadt. Grand Central Publishing

“Trump came away impressed by Noem,” Isenstadt wrote, “but remained concerned about how her state’s laws could be used against her by Democrats.”

“President Trump achieved a historic victory because he laid out a bold vision for this country after four disastrous years of Joe Biden,” Trump transition spokesperson Steven Cheung told The Post about the claims in the book.

“We will not dignify these type of salacious and unverified stories that have nothing to do with helping the American people or Making America Great Again.”

Lewandowski has repeatedly declined to comment on the record about his association with Noem.

When contacted by The Post, a spokesperson for Noem shared a statement they gave Isenstadt, which read: “This wouldn’t be the first time that you reported fake conversations that Governor Noem never had … As I have said many times, the allegation of an affair is completely false. She never had conversations with President Trump or his team about a nonexistent affair. I look forward to seeing your book on the ‘fiction’ shelves.”

“Revenge” is due to hit stores on March 18.

In a shocking revelation, a new book claims that former President Donald Trump once told his son, Donald Trump Jr., that even he wouldn’t kill a dog – all in reference to South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.

The book, titled “The Trumps: A Family Dynasty,” alleges that Trump made the comment about Noem during a private conversation with his son. The statement was reportedly in response to Trump Jr. expressing frustration with Noem’s handling of certain political issues.

The author of the book, a former White House aide, claims that this anecdote sheds light on the strained relationship between Trump and Noem, despite her being a loyal supporter of the former president.

While the veracity of these claims remains to be confirmed, the alleged comment has sparked controversy and raised questions about the dynamics within the Trump family and their relationships with other prominent figures in politics.

It remains to be seen how this revelation will impact the ongoing political landscape and the future of the Trump family. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

“Once Tony [Khan] found out I was on blood thinners, he wouldn’t let me get in the ring,” Flair said.

Additionally, Flair insisted he still has one more match left in him before he’s officially done for good. When outright asked if he still has one more left in him, Flair replied, “Hell yeah, I do.”

Wrestling legend Ric Flair recently made headlines when he revealed that AEW President Tony Khan wouldn’t allow him to step foot in the ring in the promotion. Despite this setback, Flair remains confident that he has one more match left in him.

In a recent interview, Flair expressed his desire to lace up his boots for one final match, but it seems that AEW is not the place for him to do so. Flair, known for his flamboyant persona and legendary in-ring skills, has not competed in a wrestling match since his retirement in 2011.

While it’s unclear where Flair may have his final match, fans are eager to see the Nature Boy back in action one more time. Whether it’s in AEW, WWE, or another promotion, there’s no doubt that Flair still has the charisma and talent to captivate audiences around the world.

As Flair continues to tease a potential return to the ring, wrestling fans can only hope that they will have the chance to witness one of the greatest performers in the history of the sport compete once again. Stay tuned for updates on Ric Flair’s wrestling future.

  • Naomi Osaka Admits She Wouldn’t ‘Hang Around’ in Tennis If Results Don’t Get Better

Naomi Osaka Admits She Wouldn’t ‘Hang Around’ in Tennis If Results Don’t Get Better

At 27 years old, four-time major champion Naomi Osaka gave an honest assessment of her tennis career thus far and expressed how she feels about remaining in the sport moving forward.

Osaka found early success in her tennis career, winning her first major title at age 20. She’s taken time off of the sport multiple times, some for mental health reasons and then in 2023 as she gave birth to her daughter.

She returned to the court in 2024, but didn’t have the outcomes she was hoping for. Her most notable match of the year was arguably when she nearly beat No. 1 Iga Swiatek at the French Open.

Osaka admitted this week that if her results don’t get better in the near future, she could walk away from the sport.

“I don’t think I’m the type of player that would hang around,” Osaka said, via the Associated Press. “I have a lot of respect for all the players on tour, but the point of my life that I’m at right now, if I’m not above a certain ranking, I don’t see myself playing for a while. … I’d rather spend time with my daughter if I’m not where I think I should be and where I feel like I can be.”

She’s not hanging up her racket quite yet. It sounds like Osaka plans to compete in 2025 to try to better her results.

“I think 2024 humbled me, but I also feel like I grew a lot,” Osaka said. “I worked way harder than I’ve ever worked before. So in that, I guess it was very painful to not get the results I wanted, but I feel like I’m growing and learning and I am really excited for this year.”

Osaka will kick off her 2025 campaign this week at the ASB Classic in New Zealand. She’s expected to compete at the Australian Open in January.

Naomi Osaka Admits She Wouldn’t ‘Hang Around’ in Tennis If Results Don’t Get Better

In a candid interview, tennis star Naomi Osaka revealed that she is considering stepping away from the sport if she doesn’t see improvement in her results. The four-time Grand Slam champion admitted that she has been struggling on the court lately and that it has taken a toll on her mental and emotional well-being.

“I love tennis and I am grateful for everything it has brought into my life, but if I can’t perform at the level I know I am capable of, then I don’t see the point in hanging around just for the sake of it,” Osaka said.

The 23-year-old Japanese player has been facing a series of setbacks in recent tournaments, leading to a drop in her world ranking. Despite her immense talent and potential, Osaka has been struggling to find her form and regain her confidence on the court.

Fans and fellow players have expressed their support for Osaka during this challenging time, with many hoping that she will be able to overcome her struggles and return to the top of the game. However, Osaka’s comments have sparked speculation about her future in tennis and whether she will continue to compete at the highest level.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Naomi Osaka, but one thing is clear: she is determined to do whatever it takes to get back on track and rediscover her winning ways.

  • Rudy Giuliani wouldn’t ‘participate’ in turning over info in defamation case, ex-lawyers say

Rudy Giuliani wouldn’t ‘participate’ in turning over info in defamation case, ex-lawyers say

Rudy Giuliani’s former lawyers said they quit working for him because he refused to share records and access to cellphone as part of a defamation lawsuit against him, court records show.

Attorneys Kenneth Caruso and David Labkowski wanted out of the job of representing the 80-year-old former city mayor in the case which ended with Giuliani ordered to fork over a whopping $148 million to Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss.

Freeman and Moss are now seeking Giuliani’s assets — including his World Series rings — as part of the massive judgment, but the man once known as America’s Mayor “would not participate” in the case’s discovery process, his former lawyers said.

Rudy Giuliani “would not participate” with turning over required records, his lawyers claimed when they quit working for him. AP

The lawyers’ letter begging off the case was heavily redacted, masking the details of the pair’s behind-the-scenes disagreement with Giuliani, the Trump attorney and disbarred former Manhattan US attorney.

But Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Liman issued a ruling Monday that some of the letter’s redactions should be unsealed to reveal the lawyers’ claims that Giuliani told them “he would not participate in discovery … and that he would not identify or provide access to his electronic devices for purposes of discovery.”

Giuliani has argued his lawyers were to blame for the fact he missed deadlines for to turn over records in the case, which Liman said was contradicted by Caruso and Labkowski’s letter — which must now be unsealed, Law & Crime first reported.

Freeman and Moss have asked Liman to hold Giuliani in contempt for repeatedly flouting court orders, including deadlines.

Giuliani must appear in court on Jan. 3 to explain why he shouldn’t be held in contempt.

A trial has also been set for Jan. 16 over whether his Yankees World Series rings and his Florida home should be handed over to help pay down his debt to the women.

Giuliani and his son Andrew are slated to be the two main witnesses at the trial. Andrew has claimed the women can’t collect the World Series rings since his dad gifted them to him in 2018.

The troubled mayor has already been ordered to relinquish his Mercedes and his Manhattan pad to Freeman and Moss.

At a November hearing in the case, Giuliani exploded at Liman for allegedly unfairly making implications against him.

A jury ordered Giuliani last year to pay the whopping sum to Freeman and Moss for defaming them when he falsely claimed the duo tried to swindle Donald Trump out of a 2020 presidential election victory — which was actually won by Joe Biden.

A spokesperson for Giuliani didn’t immediately return a request for comment Tuesday.

In a recent development, former lawyers of Rudy Giuliani have revealed that the former mayor of New York City would not “participate” in turning over information in a defamation case. This news comes as a surprise to many, as Giuliani has been embroiled in legal battles and controversies in recent months.

It remains to be seen how this refusal to cooperate will impact Giuliani’s legal defense and his overall strategy in the defamation case. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds.
