Adam Boqvist could have played his final game with the Florida Panthers after being placed on NHL waivers by the team on Thursday.
Boqvist, the younger brother of Florida forward Jesper, has found playing time hard to come by since signing with the Panthers a week after being bought out by the Blue Jackets last summer.
The 24-year-old, who was the eighth-overall pick of the 2018 NHL draft by the Blackhawks, has only played 18 games for the Panthers this season.
Boqvist was placed on waivers by the Panthers after only playing three games this month.
When Niko Mikkola was injured and out of the lineup, Boqvist came in and had an assist in five games.
But the Panthers brought Toby Bjornfot up from Charlotte when Aaron Ekblad got hurt and played him over Boqvist.

Barring another move, Bjornfot could be called back to the Panthers after being sent to Charlotte on Sunday.
If Boqvist clears waivers and is not picked up by another NHL team, he could be assigned to Charlotte — or simply left on the roster.
By clearing waivers on Friday, the Panthers would have the option to send him down in the near future if they so chose.
Boqvist is a right-handed defenseman only making $775,000 this season and he is a restricted free agent meaning whichever team he is playing for at the end of this year has his rights until he can become an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
So, Boqvist is expected to get claimed by someone.
While Adam Boqvist has struggled to find a spot with the Panthers, Jesper has had a career year in South Florida scoring a 12 goals with 20 points in 49 games.
Florida holds his rights for next season.
