Tanner Scott Predicted To Sign Lucrative $66 Million Deal With AL Contender
The relief pitcher market is a bit depleted this offseason. There are a few top relievers, but after that the market isn’t much.
Standing atop the pack is San Diego Padres closer Tanner Scott.
Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently predicted Scott to sign a deal with the Los Angeles Angels this offseason. Miller also cited Spotrac’s contract prediction of $66 million over four years.

“Over the past two seasons, Tanner Scott has been magnificent. Among the 286 pitchers who have logged at least 110 innings pitched—mostly starters, but a decent number of relievers — Scott’s 2.53 FIP since the beginning of 2023 ranks third in the majors, behind only Tarik Skubal (2.35) and Paul Skenes (2.44),” Miller wrote. “The Angels might be the ones to get it done. They’ll eventually be getting Robert Stephenson back from Tommy John surgery, but aside from him and Ben Joyce, there’s not much in that bullpen.
“And while they presently have an estimated payroll of $186M, they should have a decent amount of spending room left in that big-market budget. It’s really just a question of whether they’re more likely to make a splash for Scott or Anthony Santander.”
Scott would be a huge pickup for anybody. Teams like the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Mets are all rumored to be in contention to bring the lefty in.
If it’s the Angels that get the deal done, that would signal to the rest of the league that they’re serious about contending.
Los Angeles has already acquired some talent this winter. Adding Scott next to Ben Joyce in the bullpen would be a huge step in the right direction.

According to sources close to the negotiations, left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott is predicted to sign a lucrative $66 million deal with an American League contender. The deal, which is expected to be finalized in the coming days, would make Scott one of the highest-paid relief pitchers in the league.
Scott, who has been a standout performer for his current team, has garnered interest from several AL contenders who are looking to bolster their bullpen for the upcoming season. The 27-year-old southpaw has proven to be a reliable and dominant force on the mound, with a fastball that consistently reaches triple digits and a devastating slider that keeps hitters off balance.
If the deal goes through as expected, Scott will undoubtedly be a key piece for his new team as they look to make a deep postseason run. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
