The keypad works great with a Chromebook. The Tab key is very useful.
The long cord lets me put it on the right side and plug it into a USB port on the left side.

The plastic clamshell packaging is slightly improved but still hard to open. The back is perforated about halfway down on both sides so you can pull it open, but that's not enough to get the keypad out. You still have to cut it the rest of the way with scissors. Once it's out of the package I have no complaints.

This is my second one of these. My wife permanently borrowed my first one for her work.
These are great for laptops without number pads.
The angle design is comfortable and the buttons are nice sized and register to touch easily.
I had my first one for years and it still works great. It is also nice and portable for taking in laptop bag and plugs into any computer/laptop with no software installs.
Highly recommend this model if looking for one.

**Update – The 'Back, *, and /' keys have stopped responding completely. About that time to purchase another.

This numeric pad functions perfectly with Windows 7. It is plug and play; Windows does install its own drivers. I chose this particular keypad to use with my left hand because having the TAB button in the top left corner was perfect for the data entry I do. My right hand doesn't have to move off the mouse now.

My only personal dislike is that the keys don't feel all that comfortable to press. I miss a key entry more often that I thought I would. They're kind of in between a mac aluminum keyboard and a stock PC keyboard so… not shallow, low profile keys and, not high that requires really pressing the key. It will take some getting used to. Plus I still have to get my left hand coordinated well for it. Again, that's a personal thing. I still would recommend this product

I like the design and feel, and the idea that it doesn't require software installation. However, it doesn't work with my more recent OS. The simple instructions that came with it has a list of compatible operating systems, which includes Mac OS X 10.4 to 10.11. I have more recent OS, so neither of my computers are correctly capturing the keystrokes. I had one specific software I wanted it for, but it isn't registering any numeric signal from the keypad. I assume the OS and the software and keypad are not compatible.
I couldn't find a list of System Requirements in Amazon's descriptions. If it is used with the operating systems listed in the reference, it probably will work.

After returning one of the less expensive versions since the "0" key didn't register unless you hit it really hard just in the right spot, I was extremely pleased with this Targus Number Keypad. It works great every time. I use it with my MacBook Pro Retina running Windows. None of the keys stick or have issues. It just works and saves a lot of time when working on a laptop without a number pad. The tab key is surprisingly useful as is the backspace key. I like the large "0" key and greatly prefer it to the ones that have the smaller "0" and the "000" keys. Also like the large enter key.

If I could change/improve one thing it would be to have backlit keys.

It works good. Plugged right into my Mac no problems. I think the keys are a bit stiff or sticky, so I find myself making errors sometimes. I took 10-key and am a wiz at the adding machine. I also type very fast. So this is a little annoying to me. Nothing I can't get over though. I just have to make myself slow down. 🙂

I partially chose this one because a reviewer said the numbers came off easily. A little bit of sandpaper expedited that process.

This unit is sturdy, looks good, and is well put together (but still relatively easy to disassemble if necessary). I am using it as a controller for a PC-based TV system mounted to an elliptical machine; a remote control would be unnecessary. I painted over the number pad, and disassembled it so that the back could be drilled through and mounted.

The hardware itself works very well, but I can't tell you how accurate/comfortable it would be for accounting use.

I won’t buy Targus again. Some of the numbers on the keypad now respond intermittently. I called in for warranty support and they’re willing to take a look at it and send me a replacement if it’s found to be defective, however I have to pay to ship the product to them. This product is basically a 3 month throw away.
