Croat Donna Vekic, the No 18 seed, reached the third round of the Australian Open by winning against lucky loser Harriet Dart 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.
Vekic, ranked No 19, will play Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 12 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Croat defeated Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-4, 6-4).
Dart, ranked No 112, edged out Croat qualifier Jana Fett (7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (7)) in the previous round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2025 season.
