Texas crash claims lives of elderly couple | Panhandle


HALE COUNTY, Texas — A tragic collision at the intersection of US 70 and FM 179 claimed the lives of a 96-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman from Olton, Texas, on December 28, 2024. 

 

The crash involved a 2022 Chevrolet pickup and a 1997 Peterbilt truck tractor, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deceased, Robert Curtis Dennis and Mary Hatley Dennis, were traveling in the Chevrolet pickup when it failed to yield the right of way while turning onto US 70, resulting in a collision with the eastbound truck tractor driven by a 26-year-old man of Elmore City, Oklahoma.

 

The Oklahoma man was not injured in the crash, and both vehicles were traveling under clear weather and dry road conditions, stated the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
