Don’t rock the boat — you should avoid bringing these items on your next cruise, an expert warns.
Gary Bembridge, an avid travel and cruise extraordinaire, revealed the common items that are barred from popular liners.
The first, he explained, are surge protectors, extension cords or “anything allowing multiple plugs.”

“All cruise lines ban any extension cord with a surge protector feature,” he said, per The Mirror, adding that the cables are a fire hazard.
Bluetooth speakers are also not allowed on certain cruises, like Carnival ships.
“They have said that if any passenger tries to bring them on board at embarkation or at a port, they’ll be confiscated, and if cruisers buy a Bluetooth speaker in the on board shops, they will be held until the end of the cruise,” Bembridge explained.
“I am sure it has really been done as it is annoying and intrusive having people playing loud music at the pools, around the deck, on their balconies and in their cabins,” he noted, adding that he was “devastated” to learn of the restriction because he listens to white noise while sleeping.

Wi-Fi hotspots, routers and satellite dishes are also barred from boarding the boat — which one guest learned the hard way on a Carnival cruise.
YouTuber Richard Shillington tried to slink a Starlink mini dish out to sea and it was confiscated, Bembridge said.
CBD oil is also banned from cruise liners, despite its widespread medicinal use, according to Bembridge, who recalled the time one Carnival cruise guest was “denied boarding with no refund” after CBD gummies were discovered in their luggage. Not to mention, she was banned for life.
According to Carnival Cruise Line’s list of restricted items, drugs, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, flammable substances, hard liquor and sharp items like knives, scissors and open razors are among the banned belongings.

One of the most unusual items that is barred from the boat are paper pineapples, which are used to denote that the couples occupying their suite are open to swingers.
“I’ve never quite understood the hit-and-miss nature of advertising using that on regular cruises, when there are entire ship charters dedicated to swingers run by groups like such as Bliss Cruises which seems a surer thing,” Bembridge said.
Cruise ships are a popular vacation option for many people, offering a luxurious escape to exotic destinations. However, there are some items that are surprisingly common but are actually barred from being brought on board. Here are some items that could get you banned for life from a cruise ship:
1. Weapons: This may seem obvious, but many people still try to bring firearms, knives, or other weapons on board. Cruise ships have strict security measures in place to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members.
2. Illegal drugs: Bringing illegal drugs on board a cruise ship is not only dangerous but also against the law. If you are caught with drugs, you could face serious consequences, including being banned from all future cruises.
3. Flammable liquids: Items like lighter fluid, gasoline, and other flammable liquids are not allowed on cruise ships due to the potential fire hazard they pose. If you are caught with these items, you could be banned from cruising for life.
4. Drones: While drones can capture stunning aerial footage of your cruise, they are not allowed on board due to safety and privacy concerns. Using a drone on a cruise ship could get you banned from future cruises.
5. Animals: Bringing pets or other animals on a cruise ship is not allowed, as it can disrupt the experience for other passengers and pose health risks. If you are caught with an animal on board, you could be banned for life.
6. Large amounts of alcohol: While most cruise ships allow passengers to bring a limited amount of alcohol on board, bringing excessive amounts could get you banned. Cruise lines have strict policies on alcohol consumption and bringing large quantities on board is a red flag.
It’s important to familiarize yourself with the cruise line’s policies and rules before embarking on your vacation. By avoiding these common items, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable cruise experience without the risk of being banned for life.
