UNC basketball vs Pitt: Score prediction, scouting report
UNC basketball travels to Pittsburgh on Tuesday to begin a four-game stretch that will likely play a big role as it relates to the Tar Heels being included in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
The Tar Heels (13-8, 6-3 ACC) play at Pitt (13-6, 4-4) on Tuesday (9 p.m., ESPN) in a game between a pair of programs trying to find their way in the ACC.
UNC is 17 of 25 games against the Panthers, but the teams have split the last six games in the series. The Heels won both meetings last season, including a seven-point win in the ACC Tournament.
Here are some other things to know and a score prediction for UNC vs. Pitt.
Pitt guard Jaland Lowe vs UNC guard Seth Trimble among key matchups
Pitt guard Jaland Lowe is among the most underrated players in the ACC as a two-way leader for the Panthers. Through 19 games, Lowe is averaging 17.6 points, 5.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game. The 6-foot-3 sophomore has averaged 20.7 points in the last four games, attempting at least nine free throws in three of those matchups.

TRIMBLE INJURY INSIGHT:UNC basketball’s Seth Trimble provides info on injury, rediscovering rhythm with Tar Heels
The task of slowing down Lowe will likely go to UNC’s Seth Trimble. The 6-foot-3 junior had 18 points and 12 rebounds against Boston College in his best game since returning from a head injury that sidelined him for three games. Lowe and Trimble will arguably be the most important players on the floor at the Petersen Events Center.
UNC basketball defense, Pitt defense have been up and down
The Tar Heels were finding their footing defensively as a top-two team in defensive efficiency to start ACC play. But UNC took a major step back against Boston College, with an effective field goal percentage defense of 65.2%. That’s the Tar Heels’ worst mark of the season in that category and the program’s worst since logging a 70.8% mark in an 86-79 loss to Syracuse last season. Pitt’s effective field goal percentage defense has been above 60% in two of the last five games, so it’s a safe bet to believe the team that gets back to neutral Tuesday will be the winner.
Tar Heels’ Jalen Washington, Panthers’ Cameron Corhen in battle of the bigs
UNC center Jalen Washington shook off a knee-injury scare against Boston College in a game that saw him produce 18 points and six rebounds. But Washington and the Tar Heels have to provide better resistance at the rim against opposing centers, who have averaged 17.5 points and 7 rebounds in the last four games. Florida State transfer Cameron Corhen is averaging 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in his first season at Pitt. Corhen has reached double-digit points in four of the last five games.
UNC vs Pitt score prediction
Pitt 80, UNC 75: The Tar Heels were showing signs of progress on defense before a lackadaisical effort against Boston College. It’s hard to imagine this UNC squad getting it done at the Pete against Pitt. Despite their recent struggles, the Panthers are simply easier to trust at this point in the season.

UNC Basketball vs Pitt: Score Prediction, Scouting Report
As the UNC Tar Heels prepare to take on the Pitt Panthers in an exciting ACC matchup, fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling game between these two talented teams. Here is a scouting report and score prediction for this highly anticipated game.
Scouting Report:
UNC Tar Heels: The Tar Heels are coming off a solid win against Duke and are looking to continue their momentum against Pitt. Led by star players like Armando Bacot and Caleb Love, UNC has a strong inside presence and a potent perimeter game. Their fast-paced offense and aggressive defense will pose a challenge for Pitt.
Pitt Panthers: Pitt has had a mixed season so far, but they have shown flashes of brilliance with wins against top teams. Led by point guard Xavier Johnson and forward Justin Champagnie, the Panthers have a balanced scoring attack and a tough defense. They will look to disrupt UNC’s rhythm and capitalize on turnovers to secure a win.
Score Prediction:
UNC and Pitt are evenly matched, but I predict that the Tar Heels will come out on top in a close game. Final score: UNC 75, Pitt 70.
