Warriors could acquire $90 million Lakers outcast via trade
The Golden State Warriors would love to finish the trade season with an A+ grade.
However, the organization may have to settle for a solid B by landing a former Los Angeles Lakers forward with championship experience.
“Over the last few seasons, it would be easier to make a list of teams that haven’t shown interest in (Kyle) Kuzma than ones that have,” Last Word on Sports’ Jeremy Kruger wrote Tuesday.
“That being said, Kuzma’s large contract and the new CBA rules could make acquiring Kuzma a bit difficult. Teams like the Lakers and Warriors have been linked to Kuzma”
“Unfortunately, they don’t have a ton of cap space available to take him on without giving up key players.”
“The (Sacramento) Kings are a possibility, especially with Kuzma’s relationship with (Vivek) Ranadivé.”
“The (Milwaukee) Bucks and (Dallas) Mavericks are interesting options as well. However, both lack the intriguing young talent or draft assets that the (Washington) Wizards would likely want back.”
Kuzma had an enjoyable four-stint with the Lakers to begin his NBA career.
In addition to earning LeBron James’ respect over time, the former first-round pick helped the Lakers secure their 17th championship in franchise history during his third season.
Unfortunately, Los Angeles went all-out for Russell Westbrook in the 2021 offseason, forcing the organization to send Kuzma to Washington in a blockbuster trade.
While Kuzma’s efficiency hasn’t been impressive with the Wizards, Kuzma’s first three seasons with Washington were solid, as the Utah product averaged over 16 points per contest.
Kuzma is averaging below 15 points per game this season on a Wizards team slated to finish last in the Eastern Conference.
With a change of scenery, Kuzma may give the Warriors a much-needed spark as a respectable shot creator.
Still, Kuzma likely wouldn’t be Golden State’s savior this year, causing the organization to consider passing on the NBA champion.

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly interested in acquiring Los Angeles Lakers’ outcast, Russell Westbrook, in a potential trade deal. The Lakers are said to be looking to offload Westbrook’s hefty $90 million contract in order to free up cap space for other moves.
Westbrook, who was acquired by the Lakers in a blockbuster trade last offseason, has struggled to find his groove alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. His erratic play and poor shooting have been a sore spot for the team, leading to speculation that he could be on the move.
The Warriors, who are looking to bolster their roster for a deep playoff run, could be an ideal landing spot for Westbrook. With their dynamic backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Westbrook could provide an additional scoring punch and playmaking ability to an already potent lineup.
While the trade rumors are still speculative at this point, it will be interesting to see if the Warriors can pull off a deal to bring Westbrook to the Bay Area. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
