SCHOOL CLOSINGS ROCHESTER SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA
The National Weather Service has warned residents to limit their time outdoors as “a stretch of bitter cold temperatures is expected tonight through Tuesday.” The NWS says frostbite is possible within 30 minutes in these conditions.
Due to the extremely cold temperatures, schools in southeastern Minnesota and northern Iowa will have to decide whether to cancel classes on Monday and Tuesday. Read the latest closings below.
Overnight temperatures will plunge into the negative teens, with wind chills reaching as low as -35°F in some areas.
Monday will be slightly colder than Sunday, with highs struggling to reach 0°F, and wind chills falling below zero.
The coldest air will hit Monday night into Tuesday morning, with temperatures dropping further and wind chills possibly nearing -40°F in some places.
Tuesday’s highs are expected to remain in the single digits, with wind chills staying below zero until mid-week.

Byron Public Schools closed on Monday. Students and staff will have an E-learning Day. Project Kids will be open tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. High school activities are still scheduled for tomorrow evening.
