Where to watch, who’s hosting, and who might win

The Grammy Awards are back Sunday night, the first of a slate of major award shows that will probably look and feel different in the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires.

Much of the ceremony will be to similar to past celebrations: Trevor Noah is hosting for the fifth consecutive time, and performers including Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are up for major awards. But the Recording Academy has also announced changes to the structure of music’s biggest night amid relief efforts.

Here’s what you should know ahead of the Grammys.

The 67th Grammy Awards start at 8 p.m. Eastern time this evening. The show will be broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The red carpet will be streamed online starting at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

The Grammy Awards ceremony will be televised live on CBS and available to stream online for Paramount Plus with Showtime subscribers through their local CBS affiliate live feed.

Subscribers to Paramount Plus Essential, the streaming service’s less expensive option, will have on-demand access to the ceremony the day after it airs.

The official Grammys red carpet, which will include exclusive interviews and fashion highlights, will air live and on-demand at live.grammy.com as well as on the Recording Academy’s YouTube, TikTok and Facebook pages.

“E! Live From the Red Carpet,” will air on cable television and online through FuboTV.

Noah will be the first comedian to host the Grammys five times when he returns as emcee this evening. He could also win his first Grammy this year, after earning a third nomination for best comedy album for his Netflix special “Where Was I.”

Since he last helmed the Grammys, the former “Daily Show” comedian has hosted the competition show “LOL: Last One Laughing South Africa,” and continued to release his podcast “What Now? With Trevor Noah.”

The official red carpet will be hosted by “Entertainment Tonight” correspondent Cassie DiLaura and “Big Brother” winner Taylor Hale.

Beyoncé, the Grammys’s winningest artist, leads nominations this year with 11.

Despite winning 32 Grammys throughout her career, the megastar has never won album of the year. But she’s once again nominated in the category for her latest release, “Cowboy Carter,” which is also in the running for best country album.

Other major Grammy contenders include Charli XCX of “Brat” summer fame; Post Malone, who was featured on both Beyoncé and Swift’s latest albums; Billie Eilish, whose third album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” was well-received; and Kendrick Lamar, whose Grammy-nominated songs “Like That” and “Not Like Us” added fuel to his rap beef with Drake. They all received seven nominations.

Best-new-artist nominees Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, as well as Swift, who released “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” last year, are tied with six nominations each.

Swift will also be among the star-studded lineup of presenters from an array of genres. Others include Latin hitmaker Gloria Estefan; rappers Will Smith, Cardi B and Queen Latifah; R&B performers SZA and Victoria Monét; pop artist Olivia Rodrigo; and rock stars Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Several of the past year’s hitmaking artists, including Eilish, Roan, Charli XCX, Carpenter, Benson Boone and Teddy Swims, are set to perform.

Also in the performance lineup is Cynthia Erivo, the “Wicked” star who won a best-musical-theater-album Grammy in 2017 for “The Color Purple.” She’s not nominated for a Grammy this year, but if Erivo wins an Oscar later this year, she would become the youngest EGOT winner in history.

Grammy nominees Doechii, Raye, John Legend, Jacob Collier, Lainey Wilson, Brittany Howard and St. Vincent, as well as other seasoned performers Shakira, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Brad Paisley, Janelle Monáe, Sheryl Crow and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, will also hit the stage.

Among this year’s special performances are a salute to Quincy Jones, who died in November, tributes to Los Angeles and the Grammy Awards’ annual “In Memoriam” segment.

The Recording Academy said it has canceled some Grammy week events, restructured others, and will revamp the ceremony to focus on fundraising for Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts and honoring first responders.

“In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else,” Recording Academy and MusiCares chief executive Harvey Mason Jr. and Recording Academy board of trustees chair Tammy Hurt wrote in a letter to members. “The Grammys will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles.”

The Recording Academy and the charity it founded, MusiCares, have so far pledged and raised over $4 million through the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, launched to provide music industry professionals affected by the fires with financial, mental health and relocation assistance.
