‘Wicked’ Arrives On Digital Streaming This Week With Bonus Features

Wicked—Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s blockbuster movie musical—is coming to digital streaming this week along with a lot of extras.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked—which is the long-awaiting movie adaptation of the classic 2003 Broadway musical, opened in theaters nationwide on November 22.
The official logline for Wicked reads, “Elphaba (Erivo), a misunderstood young woman because of her green skin, and Glinda (Grande), a popular girl, become friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. After an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads.”
Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced in a press release that Wicked will debut on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
Prime Video has Wicked up for pre-order for $29.99, which will be the film’s purchase price on PVOD. Since digital rentals are typically $5 less, viewers can expect to rent Wicked for a 48-period for $24.99.
In addition to Prime Video, Wicked will be available on a variety of digital platforms including AppleTV, VUDU, Comcast Xfinity, Cox and Microsoft Movies & TV.
According to The Numbers, Wicked to date has earned $411.6 million domestically and $187.6 million internationally for a running worldwide box office tally of $599.2 million against a $145 million production budget before prints and advertising.
Wicked was also a huge hit with Rotten Tomatoes critics, who collectively gave the film an 88% “fresh” rating based on 364 reviews.
Wicked also stars Michelle Yeoh as Madam Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose and Peter Dinklage as the voice of Dr. Dillamond.
What Bonus Features Are Included With The Digital Release Of ‘Wicked’?
Per Universal Studios Home Entertainment, the digital release of Wicked comes with bonus content from particiapating retailers, but only if you purchase the film on PVOD from any of the platforms listed above.
The bonus features includ a sing-along alternative feature-length version of Wicked, along with the following deleted and extended scenes:
–Pfannee & ShenShen Meet Glinda: Reunited at Shiz University, Glinda, Pfannee, and ShenShen recall their past by performing a twirling routine together.
–Shiz Gazette Introduces Fiyero: Excitement spreads across Shiz as word gets out that Prince Fiyero is on his way.
–Toss Toss: Glinda teaches Elphaba the art of Toss Toss, with mixed results.
–Elphaba & Fiyero in the Forest: The relationship between Elphaba and Fiyero takes a turn as they come to care for a lost lion cub.
–Elphaba’s Promise: Elphaba makes a pledge to Glinda that they both hope will strengthen their friendship.
–Train Platform Farewell: Glinda, Madame Morrible, and Governor Thropp gather to send Elphaba off to Emerald City.
–Boq & Elphaba Talk: Elphaba challenges Boq to face the truth about his feelings for Nessa Rose, but she has difficulty doing the same when it comes to Fiyero.

–The Wonderful Wizard: An in-depth look at the infamous Wizard of Oz as the Wizard himself, Jeff Goldblum, pulls back the curtain to peer at his character’s magic and mechanics with senior special effects technician Christopher Clarke, who details how the Wizard’s massive robotic head comes to life.
Also, the Wicked digital release includes a feature commentary track with Jon M. Chu, as well as an additional feature commentary track with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
Rated PG, Wicked—which is still playing in theaters—debuts on PVOD on Tuesday.
