Wilmington police investigating shooting death


The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead.

According to a news release, officers responded to a 911 call just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024. The call was about a person lying on the ground at the 1000 block of S. Sixth Street, near the intersection of Wright Street. Responders arrived on the scene and found David McIntyre, 43, with a gunshot wound.

McIntyre was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center by EMS where he later died.
