SAN ANTONIO – Winter Storm is now developing along the South Texas coast and starting to pump moisture into our region. Reports of light freezing rain, freezing mist and sleet are coming in. These reports will become more numerous through the evening and especially overnight.

As for Bexar County, right now the bulk of the activity is in the southern half of Bexar but moving north slowly. A mix of light freezing rain and sleet. Bridges, overpasses and flyovers will get icy in short order as it spreads over.
Otherwise, many reports of light ice glazing and sleet accumulation in the eastern half of our area have come in. Southern sections seeing some icing now and starting to get a few reports of a light mix in our western third of the area toward Uvalde to Zavala County.
As the low deepens along the coast, the shield of precipitation will continue to expand across most of the viewing area. The only areas that may be left out are the western Hill Country to Val Verde County which could end up on the outer margin of the precip shield. Through the night, a healthy mix of ice or snow will fall with a period of possibly just snow before it ends quickly through daybreak Tuesday.
Total accumulation will range from a dusting to 1″ or so in and around Bexar County. A couple spots in our eastern zone counties could see 2″ or more of accumulation if mesoscale banding of heavier snow develops. There will also be a light ice glaze accumulation from .01″ to .10″ in our area.
Travel will be very slick early Tuesday then improve by later in the morning and should be in good shape for the afternoon as the sun melts and dries out roadways.
