WWE SmackDown Winners And Highlights

Rey Mysterio Declares For 2025 WWE Royal Rumble

Hometown Hero Rey Mysterio made the 2025 Royal Rumble field even more loaded. Even he admitted how loaded it was by listing off the names of all the legends and former Royal Rumble winners in the match.

Kevin Owens pulled up and received the Dominik Mysterio treatment.

Owens wore a hilarious t-shirt that read “The Canadian Son of a Security Systems Technician” to troll the “Son of a Plumber” Cody Rhodes.

A heated back-and-forth came to a head when Mysterio told Owens he reminded him of his son Dominik. Owens got the better of Mysterio with cheapshot.

Opening Segment Grade: B

Bianca Belar And Naomi Def. Nia Jax And Candice LeRae

Backstage, Naomi continues to insist that she has no leads on the Jade Cargill attack They both seemed suspicious. In fact, immediately after this segment, Jade Cargill tweeted out “you sure?

Naomi requested that Bianca wrap her ponytail in a bun to avoid accidentally hitting her again.

During the picture-in-picture break, Nia Jack mockingly swung around Bianca Belair’s ponytail. She even beat Bianca with it.

Though she is a heel, Nia Jax is also technically a hometown hero in San Diego. She was still booed. Because she’s a great heel.

Naomi won the match for her team with a unique Full Nelson bomb into a rollup.

Bayley did a babyface interview with Byron Saxton in an empty Pechanga Center. Beforehand, Joe Tessitore said the Pechanga Center was “history-rich,” and was so old that Elvis once performed there.

Bianca Belair and Naomi vs. Nia Jax and Candice LeRae Grade: B-

Jimmy Uso Def. Carmelo Hayes By DQ

Jimmy’s Entrance was similar to Jey’s where he cut a backstage promo beforehand. He didn’t enter through the crowd, though.

Carmelo Hayes made fun of Jimmy Uso’s age by calling him “Unc.”

Carmelo continues to be one of the most underrated talents on the main roster as he wrestled yet another match to “this is awesome” chants.

The Bloodline crashed the match, even attacking Carmelo Hayes. S0lo made a separate entrance, but walked out without saying a word. Jacob Fatu, the new Solo (enforcer-threatening-to-be-chief), cut a spirited promo saying he didn’t give a damn if San Diego cheers or boo’s the Bloodline. He received “what!” chants but he leaned into them. Fatu was unhinged, this was a great promo.

The marathon segment continued as LA Knight hit the ring to attack the Bloodline. The odds were evened by Braun Strowman. Braun and Fatu faced off and fans went crazy. They did not get physical, but they will.

Jimmy Uso vs. Carmelo Hayes Grade: B

MCMG Def. Los Garza

Santos Escobar gave Los Garza a pep talk. Over the past month he’s been a second manager of the upstart tag team when he’s capable of so much more.

Los Garza had a great double-team move that I could only explain as a soccer kick into the World’s Strongest Slam.

The Motor City Machine Guns won a highly athletic tag team match with the Sliced Bread.

MCMG vs. Los Garza: B

Piper Niven Def. B-Fab

This was B-Fab’s match in a bout a year. She lost quickly after outside distraction from Chelsea Green and a Senton Splash. Niven then won with Samoan Splash.

Mia Yim interfered after with a kendo stick, and even after Piper absconded the stick, Yim got the better of Niven.

Fans weren’t into this segment. WWE has work to do to build up the Women’s United States Championship division around Chelsea Green.

B-Fab vs. Piper Niven Grade: C

Kevin Owens Def. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio leaned into his San Diego roots with his Padres-inspired gear. Victoria was in the crowd cheering him on.

Owens wore a “Mysterio Hall of Fame” t-shirt for his match.

Owens put on a masterclass in getting heat with this local crowd. Partly because he was wrestling their favorite, but also because he’s Kevin Owens. Owens even delivered an Eddie Guerrero-inspired Frog Splash.

After a mandatory 619, Mysterio headed to the top rope. Owens “accidentally” bumped into the referee, who bumped into the ropes, causing Rey to trip. Owens won the match with a Pop-up Power Bomb.

Owens shook Rey’s hand, and when he tried to stick him with a Package Piledriver, Owens hit the ring.

Kevin Owens vs. Rey Mysterio Grade: B-

Charlotte Flair Return Video; Tiffany Stratton Def. Bayley

There was a Charlotte Flair promo. They showed her from behind, so before they revealed her face, I thought it was Tiffany Stratton.

There were dueling chants of “let’s go Bayley” and “Tiffy Time!”

Fans slowed down in enthusiasm coming out of commercial break.

“Master of the Dark Arts” Tiffany Stratton hit a running butt bump on Bayley.

Stratton kicked out of a flying elbow and multiple Bayley-to-Belly suplexes. Stratton ultimately won (clean) with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Bayley Grade: B-
