Field Services & Smart Hands Playbook

Use this guide for onsite IT work such as dispatch, smart hands, site survey, remote assist, network or infrastructure changes, break/fix coordination and hardware/software procurement handoffs. It turns a vague request into a scope that can be checked before anyone is dispatched or anything is purchased.

1. Capture the minimum dispatch-ready scope

Site & access

City/site, access window, onsite contact, security or escort constraints, loading/parking needs and remote-hands prerequisites.

Technical task

Device, rack, circuit, endpoint or software target; known symptoms; expected action; rollback boundary; required tools or spares.

Evidence

Photos, serials, logs, diagrams, ticket number, test criteria and the exact proof required before checkout.

Commercial gate

Written approval, PO or equivalent authorization before purchase, dispatch or irreversible work. Technical diagnosis does not equal purchase authorization.

2. Match the problem to a free Zion tool

3. Use Discovery when the problem is still ambiguous

The Zion Discovery is free, online 24/7 and takes about five minutes. It maps one process, shows a rough hours-leaked estimate from the inputs you provide and recommends relevant apps. The result appears immediately on-screen and is submitted for simultaneous delivery to the client email and commercial@ziontechgroup.com.

4. Field-services decision checklist

  1. Can the work be remote? If yes, test remote diagnostics first and avoid an unnecessary dispatch.
  2. Is the site information complete? If no, build the site-survey brief before scheduling.
  3. Is the acceptance test written? Define what proves the work is complete before the visit starts.
  4. Are spares or licenses required? Separate sourcing from the engineer visit and validate compatibility, warranty, taxes, freight and lead time.
  5. Is there formal authorization? Do not treat a technical recommendation as authorization to purchase or dispatch.

5. Continue through the App Network

Use Discovery → Action for a cross-functional map, the Free Discovery Playbook for score-to-experiment guidance, the Automation Brief Builder for process-heavy problems, and the Automation Pilot Planner when a bounded automation pilot is more appropriate than onsite work.
