Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had another milestone night on Wednesday as he scored a career-high 54 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 123-114 victory over the Utah Jazz.
The 26-year-old MVP candidate also posted eight rebounds and five assists in the win.
The Hamilton native’s previous career-high was 45 points.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished second in MVP voting last season, receiving 15 first-place votes to finish behind Nikola Jokić for the honour.
He is averaging 31.5 points and 6.1 assists in 34.1 minutes per game to help lead the Thunder to a 36-7 record, tied for best in the NBA.
