DP World Tour Taunts Bryson DeChambeau in Viral Video, Leaving Paige Spiranac & More in Disbelief

LIV golfers vs other Tour pros! How does that sound? The DP World Tour is jumping right into the rivalry with a hilarious twist. In a recent skit, Hannah Aslesen, the Tour’s official “viral consultant” (yes, that’s a job now), took a playful jab at Bryson DeChambeau’s viral hole-in-one challenge.

In one scene, Aslesen gives Tommy Fleetwood some “serious” advice on how to go viral, saying, “Ah, look, Tommy, everyone loves drama, okay? Best way to do that? A rivalry. We got Team USA vs. Team Europe, Tiger vs. Phil, Bryson vs. Brooks, Bryson vs. Ropes, Bryson vs. that big-a– aquarium he calls a house. You see what I’m saying?”

At Rich Harvest Farms last year, after hitting a terrific second shot on the par-4 14th hole, DeChambeau began to make his way up to the green. On the way, he found a barrier blocking his path: a rope! It was there to hold back the fans from the course. Unfortunately, he misjudged how low he needed to duck to get under the rope, so he hit it full-on. He immediately dropped to the ground upon impact and seemed quite shaken up.

Remember that viral hole-in-one challenge? The 2x US Open winner tried to hit an ace over his house which was made of glass. Now, it might seem like just a playful jab from the DP World Tour but hold up—enter Paige Spiranac, DeChambeau’s former rival and internet queen. As soon as the DP World Tour posted the video on X, Spiranac couldn’t resist commenting, “lol this is so good!” That’s right!

Spiranac was once known for her occasional digs at DeChambeau but her playful jab at DeChambeau hints that she indeed loved the DPWT’s social media game. The video was 5:35 minutes long, and every bit of it was fun to watch. So maybe Spiranac liked the video as a whole or maybe just maybe she is still up for some playful jab with the LIV star. Since she didn’t specify anything, so all we can do is guess.

Now, back to the DP World Tour. They have collaborated with several golfers like Min Woo Lee, Akshay Bhatia, Tommy Fleetwood, and many more to help them get a little famous online. The hilarious skit showed these golfers learning the fine art of internet fame.

Notably, the PGA Tour has also recently launched something similar with their Creator Council. Influencers like Paige Spiranac and the crew from No Laying Up are now working with the PGA Tour to brainstorm new ways to engage fans and grow the sport. And to be fair, the PGA Tour could use the boost, especially with a dip in viewership.

This influencer training idea might just be genius. And it seems like their efforts in this hilarious skit are paying off.

Golf Community can’t stop talking about DP World Tour’s bold new tactics

One fan summed it up with two pointers: “1. This was amazing. & 2. Deep in there, it’s also kinda spot on. Golf needs more players with personalities that they are willing to share with us, including on socials.” That’s true. With technology constantly evolving, it’s better to try hands-on everything possible, as this is exactly the kind of move golf needs to bring players closer to fans. And honestly, it will just add to the Tour’s consistency.

Guy Kinnings, the DP World Tour CEO, shared his thoughts on their overall growth back in November 2024: “The DP World Tour has enjoyed impressive growth in our fan base in recent years, mirroring the increased interest in golf participation globally. We revamped our season structure this year to reinforce our position as golf’s global tour, with a series of global swings building towards the Back 9 and then the season-ending play-offs.”

Lately, golfers have been sharing behind the scenes with the fans, and well, the PGA Tour has also been sharing a few fun glimpses from the course, that fans are loving. Another user praised the DPWT’s effort writing, “Now that’s content we can enjoy following.”

Another added, “So good. @DPWorldTour has a killer content team. One of the best follows in golf social. I laughed out loud multiple times watching this.” And the numbers are telling, too. The DP World Tour’s Instagram account has already hit 1 million followers, and with ideas like this, it’s easy to imagine that number growing. Sure, the PGA Tour still leads with 5.3 million followers, but with moves like this, the gap doesn’t feel so impossible to close after all this.

One fan even came up with a fun suggestion for the influencer camp’s name: “You should call the camp GITHUB… Golf Influencer Training HUB.”

It’s clear the DP World Tour is all-in on finding creative, fun ways to grow its reach—and fans are loving every second of it. Will these efforts help them surpass the PGA Tour’s dominance in social media? Only time will tell. What about you? Are you a fan of this new approach? Let us know in the comments!

In a recent viral video, the DP World Tour took a bold shot at Bryson DeChambeau, leaving golf fans and players like Paige Spiranac in disbelief. The video, which has been making the rounds on social media, shows a montage of DeChambeau’s infamous slow play moments, accompanied by sarcastic commentary from the tour.

The video, titled “Bryson DeCham-slow,” highlights DeChambeau’s notoriously slow pace of play, with clips of him taking an eternity to line up shots and make decisions on the course. The DP World Tour’s commentary pokes fun at DeChambeau’s meticulous approach to the game, with one line quipping, “Bryson takes longer to hit a putt than it takes to play 18 holes.”

The video has sparked a debate among golf fans and players, with some finding it hilarious and others calling it disrespectful. Paige Spiranac, a former professional golfer turned social media personality, weighed in on the controversy, expressing her shock at the tour’s taunting of DeChambeau.

“I can’t believe the DP World Tour would stoop to this level of mockery,” Spiranac tweeted. “It’s one thing to call out slow play, but to make a video like this is just cruel. Bryson may be slow, but he’s still a talented player who deserves respect.”

DeChambeau has yet to respond to the video, but it’s clear that the DP World Tour’s taunts have struck a nerve. Whether this will lead to changes in DeChambeau’s pace of play remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure – this viral video has certainly made a splash in the golf world.
