Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins is ‘happy to stay’ at Aston Villa despite Arsenal interest
Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins is happy to stay at Aston Villa, ruling out a potential departure this window.
Watkins had been the subject of interest from Arsenal on Monday, which was swiftly rebuffed by Villa. News of Arsenal’s overtures were leaked two days later, which angered Villa’s senior staff, given it was just hours before the key Champions League fixture against Celtic.
Jhon Duran’s impending move to Al Nassr is expected to be completed on Friday, leaving Watkins as the club’s sole traditional striker. He is Villa’s top scorer in the league and Emery, speaking ahead of the trip to Molineux on Saturday, is “happy to stay” at the club this window.
“The commitment of Watkins with us is a huge commitment to defend Aston Villa,” said Emery. “He appreciates a lot how Aston Villa was always supporting him, helping him. When we joined here two years ago, how we worked with him — we are always trying to get the best of him. Now we need him, like he needed Aston Villa in the last years. The conversations we are having with him, he’s always adapting to every circumstance we have.
“Of course when some teams call us being interested in the players, it’s very good for us. Some players prefer to leave. Some players accept to be here and commit to us here and one of them is Ollie Watkins.”
Watkins has scored 11 goals and has registered nine assists across 32 appearances this season. When asked whether he could completely guarantee the 29-year-old remaining a Villa player, Emery said that was the case.
“He’s happy to stay. You can ask him but we asked him how he’s feeling every day and every year with Aston Villa and he’s happy here.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, was asked about his club’s potential deal for Watkins at a news conference earlier on Friday and said: “Not gonna talk about it. We are proactively looking.”

Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins is ‘happy to stay’ at Aston Villa despite Arsenal interestFormer Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is content at his current club and has no intention of leaving, despite interest from the Gunners.
Emery, who now manages Spanish side Villarreal, spoke highly of Watkins and praised his performances for Villa this season. The 25-year-old has been in fine form, scoring 12 goals in 22 Premier League appearances so far.
Speaking to reporters, Emery said, “Ollie Watkins is a fantastic player and he is happy at Aston Villa. I don’t see him leaving anytime soon. He is a key player for them and I believe he is focused on helping the team achieve their goals this season.”
Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing Watkins last summer before he joined Villa from Brentford for a club-record fee. However, it seems that the striker is committed to his current club and is not looking for a move away anytime soon.
Villa fans will be delighted to hear that Watkins is happy at the club, as he has been a crucial part of their success this season. With Emery’s comments putting an end to any transfer speculation, Villa can now focus on their push for European qualification in the Premier League.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida coach Todd Golden is ready to move on, with any potential legal response to come after the season.
That might not happen until April for the fifth-ranked Gators.
In the meantime, Florida is embarking on a daunting, two-week stretch that includes three road games against top-15 teams. It begins at No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday — and with Golden seemingly absolved from sexual misconduct accusations he acknowledged were challenging.
The university cleared Golden on Monday following a four-month investigation into allegations of sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking. The school said no evidence was found and ended its investigation.
“Happy to put it behind us,” Golden said Thursday. “Moving forward, we’ll continue to have our full attention on our team and then the game on Saturday. Look forward to talking about basketball with you guys.”
It’s unclear what’s next step for the Title IX complainants, who have the right to appeal the university’s decision. They also could consider filing a complaint with the Office for Civil Rights in Washington or suing in state or federal court. Their attorney, Karen Truszkowski of the Temperance Legal Group, has not responded to a request for comment.
Golden previously sidestepped chances to deny the allegations “out of the respect to the process” and threatened legal action, presumably against his unnamed accusers. The school’s university athletic association, Golden and his attorney released strong statements Monday, with the coach saying the process “dragged on” and his attorney ripping complainants for leaking confidential material.
Golden declined Thursday to address how he plans to rebuild his reputation.
“To be honest, it’s a very fair and real question,” he said. “I’m simply not worried about that right now. My job is to make sure our team’s prepared. My job is to make sure we’re ready to go for Saturday. I’ll worry about all that stuff later.”
The complaint against Golden accused him of sending photos and videos of his genitalia, making unwanted sexual advances on Instagram and requesting sexual favors. The Independent Florida Alligator first reported the allegations in early November.
Golden’s attorney, William Shepherd, said the university’s conclusion “proves that the complaint was meritless.”
Golden, 39, signed a two-year contract extension last March that included a $1 million raise and brought his annual salary to $4 million. The deal runs through the 2029-30 season. He is 58-31 in three seasons.
Florida has won 18 of its first 20 games. Winning in Knoxville would boost the team’s postseason résumé even more.
“Just going into one of the best venues in college basketball and holding onto your guts enough for 40 or 45 minutes, whatever it takes to find a way to win,” Golden said. “It would be a great feather to put in our cap. And I think if we can somehow find a way to win on Saturday, I think we, at this time, should be a [No. 1] seed, to be honest.”
The Gators also have upcoming games against No. 24 Vanderbilt, at top-ranked Auburn and at No. 14 Mississippi State.
“One of the benefits and one of the great things about this league is you don’t get punished for losing unless you lose in a really bad manner,” he said. “And every win is a résumé win. … Win a game like that and maybe you are in a position to be a 1-seed in the NCAA tournament.”
Florida coach Todd Golden has expressed his relief and happiness at finally moving on from the Title IX case that has been looming over him for the past several months. Golden, who was accused of sexual misconduct by a former student-athlete, has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation. In a statement released by his lawyer, Golden expressed his gratitude to all those who stood by him during this difficult time. He also stated that he is looking forward to putting this chapter behind him and focusing on his team and their upcoming season.
Golden’s case has been a source of controversy and division within the Florida community, with many calling for his resignation and others supporting him and believing in his innocence. Now that the case has been resolved and no charges were filed against him, Golden can finally breathe a sigh of relief and move forward with his coaching career.
As he prepares for the upcoming season, Golden is determined to prove his critics wrong and lead his team to success on and off the court. He remains committed to upholding the values of integrity and respect within his program and is eager to show that he is deserving of the trust and support of his players, fans, and university.

Paramount+ has announced Thursday, March 20 as the launch date for the upcoming drama Happy Face. Inspired by the iHeart Media podcast and Melissa Jasperson-Moore book, Shattered Silence, from executive producers Robert and Michelle King (The Good Wife, The Good Fight), the series tells the story of a woman who discovers her father is a serial killer at age 15.
In her book, Melissa shares the true story of her discovery that her father, whom she loved dearly, was the prolific serial killer known as “Happy Face.” As an adult, Melissa changed her name, guarded her secret, and cut off all ties to her father, who is currently serving life in prison.
The official logline: Happy Face follows Melissa (Annaleigh Ashford) and her incarcerated father, known as the “Happy Face Killer” (Dennis Quaid). After decades of no contact, he finally finds a way to force himself back into his daughter’s life. In a race against the clock, Melissa must find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed. Throughout, she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.
The series will be written and executive produced by showrunner Jennifer Cacicio (Your Honor). The cast include Annaleigh Ashford, Dennis Quaid, James Wolk, Tamera Tomakili, Khiyla Aynne and Benjamin Mackey.
The eight-episode season of Happy Face will premiere with two episodes, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and international markets where the service is available. Following the premiere, new episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays, with the season finale on May 1.

The first trailer for Happy Face is here!
A preview at the new Paramount+ show documenting a serial killer’s daughter, played by Annaleigh Ashford, fighting for justice has been released. Based on the real-life story of murderer Keith Jesperson and his daughter Melissa Reed, Happy Face stars Dennis Quaid as the dangerous Happy Face Killer.
“What do you know about the Happy Face Killer?” a talk show host named Dr. Greg (David Harewood) asks Reed at the start of the trailer. “Perhaps we should just explain why you’re here.”
After flashbacks of her childhood appear on the screen, she reveals her secret.
“Because he’s my father,” she tells the audience.

A series of clips of Reed investigating cases she believes are linked to her estranged father then play while she contemplates reconciling with him for the sake of a man being put in jail for crimes Jesperson actually committed.
“Every violent act is a rock dropped in water,” she says. “If you stay silent, the ripples of trauma just keep pulling everyone they touch underneath.”
It ends with her decision: a visit to the prison where her father is being held.
“It’s so good to see you, Missy,” he whispers as the two come face-to-face.
Jesperson’s killings have been a topic of public interest since 2010 when he was convicted and given three life sentences for the strangulation deaths of eight women in the 1990’s (he once claimed to have as many as 160 victims). His last victim was only recently discovered in 2023, 29 years after her murder.
Jesperson was only dubbed the “Happy Face Killer” after the murders when he allegedly began drawing smiley faces on letters to police and the media during their investigation.

His daughter, who goes by Melissa Moore, has been outspoken about the impact her father’s crimes had on her life, even writing a book about it in 2009, called Shattered Silence. She later opened up about it in an interview with 20/20 in 2015.
“We are secondary crime victims. We carry that shame and we want to remove that,” Moore said at the time” “I feel in a sense I am related to my father, but I didn’t cause the pain. But knowing that my father caused some pain causes me pain.”
She also admitted that there were signs everyone in Jesperson’s life overlooked, recalling one time during her childhood that he tortured and killed kittens.
“I think I caught a glimpse of the sociopath, the part of where felt in control over me and that he enjoyed it. I got the sense that there was another side to him,” she explained in a 2010 interview with the outlet.
She has gone on to work with others in the same position as her and help people who lost loved ones in unsolved murders.

The streaming service Paramount Plus has released the first trailer for “Happy Face,” the TV series inspired by events surrounding a notorious true-crime case with a connection to Oregon. “Happy Face” is inspired by the experiences of Melissa G. Moore, who discovered at age 15 that her father was Keith Jesperson, the serial killer who became known as “Happy Face,” or the “Happy Face Killer.”
Longtime Oregonians may recall that Jesperson’s nickname came about because of the smiley face signatures included in anonymous letters Jesperson wrote to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office and to The Oregonian, in which Jesperson confessed to killing several victims, including women from Oregon. In 1994, The Oregonian printed a five-part series about the “Happy Face Killer,” and the confessions.
Jesperson is serving a life sentence at the Oregon State Penitentiary.
Annaleigh Ashford stars as Moore in the “Happy Face” TV series, and Dennis Quaid plays Jesperson. The series, which filmed on location in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, premieres with two episodes March 20 on Paramount Plus.
According to the Paramount Plus announcement, “Happy Face” tells the story of what happens when, after decades of not being in contact, Jesperson, who is now incarcerated, “finds a way to force himself back into his daughter’s life. In a race against the clock, Melissa must find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed. Throughout, she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.”
The series is inspired by the “Happy Face” podcast, and the book, “Shattered Silence,” by Moore and M. Bridget Cook. The series executive producers include Robert and Michelle King (“The Good Wife”).
The “Happy Face” cast also includes James Wolk, Tamera Tomakili, Khiyla Aynne and Benjamin Mackey. Following the two-episode premiere on Paramount Plus on March 20, new episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays. The season finale will stream on May 1.

Anson Williams Talks About Friendship with Happy Days’ Ron Howard, Henry Winkler
Anson Williams learned how to be part of a team thanks to Happy Days — on set and on the softball field.
On the Jan. 30 episode of 9021OMG, Williams, who played Potsie Weber on Happy Days, reflected on his friendships with his costars Henry Winkler, who played Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli, and Ron Howard, who played Richie Cunningham, and how creator Garry Marshall helped forge their connection.
“We have been close friends for decades,” Williams, 75, said, noting that Winkler, Howard and Don Most (who played Ralph Malph) are “literally a text away.”
“It’s just been a wonderful friendship. And just to have that kind of friendship that many years? It’s pretty unique,” he said. “But that has a lot to do with Garry Marshall, our mentor.”

Marshall, who died in 2016 at age 81, “really cared about us,” Williams said, “not just as a showrunner, but as young people because we didn’t know much.” He encouraged all of them to learn as much as possible on set by shadowing directors and writers and treating the set like “school,” and Williams said he thinks that’s why they’re all “still involved” in entertainment.
“Early on, Garry, he sat us down. I’ll never forget it,” Williams remembered. “He said, ‘You guys are gonna be famous. You don’t deserve it. But you’re gonna be famous. There’s gonna be a light on you. Your responsibility is, you take the light and put it on someone that does deserve it.’ ”

The “other thing” that Williams remembered as the best part of his experience on Happy Days was the show’s softball team. Marshall was a “sports fanatic” and had the idea for it. Williams remembered that all his castmates, except Winkler, 79, were ex-athletes, but Howard, 70, and his brother Clint taught him to pitch and he “ended up being really, really good.”
The team toured the country, played in major stadiums before games and “hardly ever lost.” They also ended up playing on USO tours. Marshall told them, “I put it together because you always have the back of your teammate. I think it’s gonna come back to the set. I think it’s gonna stop a lot of evil.” And it did.
Post-Happy Days, Williams became a director and has helmed episodes of Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Lizzie McGuire and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. He told hosts Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling that fans still call him Potsie when they see him.

Williams said that when Happy Days became a hit after its premiere in 1974, it was Howard who told him “Anson, you gotta earn your name … How do you think I feel? I have two: Opie and Richie,” referencing his The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days character names. “You’ve got one. Shut up.”
“We have to earn our names. Take this and do something bigger with it,” Williams said. Still, Williams joked, “Ron had won the Oscar, and they’re calling him Richie.”
Williams stayed with Happy Days throughout its run until 1984.
Anson Williams, known for his role as Potsie Weber on the iconic TV show Happy Days, recently opened up about his close friendship with his former co-stars Ron Howard and Henry Winkler. In a candid interview, Williams shared that the bond he shares with Howard and Winkler has remained strong over the years, even after the show ended in 1984. He described Howard as “the ultimate big brother” and credited him with being a mentor and guiding force in his life.
Williams also spoke highly of Winkler, who played the lovable greaser Fonzie on the show. He praised Winkler for his talent, work ethic, and kindness, saying that he is “a true friend in every sense of the word.”
The trio’s friendship has stood the test of time, with Williams noting that they still keep in touch and support each other in their personal and professional endeavors. He emphasized the importance of having strong friendships in the entertainment industry, where relationships can be fleeting and superficial.
As fans of Happy Days, it’s heartwarming to hear about the enduring friendship between Anson Williams, Ron Howard, and Henry Winkler. Their bond is a testament to the power of genuine connections and the lasting impact of shared experiences.
