Candace Parker hasn’t slowed down at all since retiring in April 2024, and now the Lady Vols basketball legend is releasing a book this summer.
Parker announced her new book Monday titled “The Can-Do Mindset,” which was inspired by her childhood nickname. The book will officially go on sale on June 3, but it’s available for preorder now.
“Can-Do became my nickname from an early age, and it’s become a mindset that’s served me through so many life phases, anchoring me through choppy waters,” Parker wrote on Instagram. “In this book, I share stories from my own life on and off the court that made me who I am. I hope these stories will inspire you to break the boundaries around you and create your own success. With the Can-Do mindset, you will succeed in the game of life.”
Parker is the president of Adidas women’s basketball. She also owns a production company named Baby Hair Productions, which has already released two documentaries – one on Title IX named “Title IX: 37 Words That Changed America,” and one on Parker’s journey through basketball called “Candace Parker: Unapologetic.”
She also welcomed her third child last summer, a baby boy named Hartt Summitt Petrakov Parker — his middle name a nod to legendary Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt.

It was Parker’s second child with her wife, Anna Petrakova Parker, but her third child in total. Parker’s firstborn, her daughter Lailaa, was born in 2009 as Parker began her WNBA career and is now in high school. Parker’s first son with Anna was born in February 2022 and is named Airr Larry Petrakov Parker.
Parker retired as one of the greatest basketball players ever. She played 16 seasons in the WNBA and is a three-time WNBA champion and a two-time WNBA MVP.

She was also the 2016 WNBA Finals MVP, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and the 2020 Defensive Player of the year. Parker is the only player in league history to have won MVP and Rookie of the Year in the same season in 2008, and she’s the only player to win three titles with three different teams.
Parker, who is 6-foot-4, was renowned for her skillset as a forward and her ability to play any position – even point guard. She played for Pat Summitt at Tennessee from 2004-08 and won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2007-08.
Parker was the Final Four Most Outstanding Player both years and won the Wade Trophy in 2007. Her Lady Vols No. 3 jersey is retired, and she’s arguably the best player to ever suit up for Tennessee.

Kelsey Parker has a baby on the way!
The widow of The Wanted’s Tom Parker, who died at age 33 in March 2022 following a diagnosis of stage four glioblastoma, is expecting a baby with her partner Will Lindsay, Kelsey confirmed to The Mirror.
The Mum’s the Word podcast host, 34 and her late husband shared two children: Aurelia, 5, and Bodhi, 4.
Kelsey told The Mirror that she and Tom had wanted to grow their family before his brain cancer diagnosis.
“Tom and I always said we wanted four — but life had other plans,” Kelsey said. “So yes, this is amazing but also bittersweet. The joys of finding out I’m pregnant and moving forward with my life, while thinking, ‘My life could have been so different.’ I’ve felt every emotion under the sun.”

“I’m still getting my head around it but I’m so excited,” she continued. “And I know I’m putting myself out there, telling people. I just want everyone to be as happy as I am.”
Kelsey now lives with Lindsay, 27. She shared her new romance on Instagram in September. In the photo, which she captioned with a single red heart, she wore a floral dress and heels, laughing as a man in a gray suit held her close. She did not identify her mystery man at the time.
“For me, I feel like everything’s meant to be,” she added about having another baby. “I’m just trying to find joy. I love my children — they’ve got me through the worst times. So I feel like I’ve been blessed with another.”
“If I dwelled on everything that’s happened, I wouldn’t be here. Tom was my soulmate. I’m still angry he’s gone,” she added. “But I can’t live in sadness. Tom wouldn’t want that.”
She opened up about Lindsay during a podcast episode in October, during which she confirmed he had met her children and they have met each other’s parents.
“He’s so lovely. I’m so happy,” Kelsey said at the time. “We met authentically, and that’s what I wanted.”
“I’ve been trying to find happiness for a little while now,” she added. “I’m always going to have that guilt. I guess that’s part of the grief process as well, is having the guilt that I’m here and I’ve met someone. But it’ll never take away the love that I had for Tom, and Will would never try to take that away from me either.”
Kelsey told The Mirror that her third pregnancy is a “happy accident” and the couple found out she was expecting on “the day after Will’s birthday.”
“I’m over the moon,” Lindsay, a tree surgeon, said. “This is something I’ve wanted for a long time. I couldn’t be happier and I know Kelsey is going to be an amazing mum, as she already is.”

It’s all just been pretty natural fitting in — nothing has felt forced, or rushed.”

Tom Parker’s Widow Kelsey Parker Is Pregnant, Expecting Baby With New Boyfriend Will Lindsay
Tom Parker’s widow, Kelsey Parker, is pregnant and expecting a baby with boyfriend Will Lindsay.
“Tom and I always said we wanted four, but life had other plans,” Kelsey, 34, told the U.K.’s The Mirror in an interview published on Sunday, January 26. “So yes, this is amazing but also bittersweet. The joys of finding out I’m pregnant and moving forward with my life, while thinking, ‘My life could have been so different.’ I’ve felt every emotion under the sun.”
Kelsey was married to Tom, best known as one of the members of boy band The Wanted, until his death in 2022. Tom, who was 33 at the time, had suffered from an inoperable brain tumor. He is survived by Kelsey and their two children: Aurelia, 5, and Bodhi, 4.
After grieving Tom’s death, Kelsey eventually found love again with tree surgeon Lindsay, 27, last year. They now live together in what was her family home with the late singer.

“Tom and I had a house before, which we had the kids and got married in. We moved into my current home in September 2021, and Tom only had eight months in this place, but I feel like he picked it for me,” she told the British outlet. “Will gradually moved in. There wasn’t a specific date, but he moved in when it felt right for all of us. Right now, we don’t have any plans to move elsewhere and we’ve made this our home.”
Kelsey further referred to her current pregnancy as a “happy accident” and noted that she and Lindsay have not yet found out the baby’s sex.
“We’re undecided on whether we’re going to look at [the sex reveal document] yet. We’re just going to see how the journey goes,” she said, adding she believes that Tom sent his approval from the great beyond. “I’m very spiritual and so is Will. Especially after he lost his dad, he believes in signs from loved ones, like me — and I’ve had so many from Tom. Will’s seen them too. He doesn’t think I’m crazy.”
According to Kelsey, she and Lindsay often discuss Tom at home. Daughter Aurelia even floated the name “Parker” as a tribute to her father.
“For me, I feel like everything’s meant to be. I’m just trying to find joy,” Kelsey said. “I love my children — they’ve got me through the worst times. So I feel like I’ve been blessed with another. If I dwelled on everything that’s happened, I wouldn’t be here. Tom was my soulmate. I’m still angry he’s gone. But I can’t live in sadness. Tom wouldn’t want that.”
Kelsey also informed Tom’s mother, Noreen, about her pregnancy news.
“Tom’s mum gave me her blessing instantly,” Kelsey added. “She can’t wait to have another grandchild. All I care about is that both our families and Tom’s family are happy. Noreen is the most amazing lady. After Tom passed, she said to me, ‘As long as you’re happy Kels, whatever you do, we will always support you and be happy for you.’ We’ve all been through so much together.”

“Making it to our Philadelphia Eagles game on today is essential,” Parker said.
Before the press conference wrapped up, Parker implored those gathered around her to participate in an Eagles chant.
“We’ve gotta do this, let me hear you all say: E-L-G-L-E-S! Eagles!” Parker exclaimed. “Go Birds!”
What they’re saying:

“We don’t promise perfection, I’m so happy I never have,” Parker said. “Especially after I couldn’t spell Eagles right.”
The self-deprecating moment elicited a laugh from those in attendance.
In a recent press conference, Mayor Parker addressed the botched Eagles chant that took place during a recent event in the city. With a smile on her face, Mayor Parker playfully stated, “We don’t promise perfection, but we do promise passion and dedication from our fans.”The Mayor’s lighthearted response to the mistake showed her understanding and support for the passionate fans of the Eagles. She went on to praise the team for their hard work and commitment throughout the season, despite any small mishaps along the way.
