     —

More star power has been added to a campaign aimed at keeping more Hollywood production in Los Angeles.

Keanu Reeves and Bette Midler have reportedly joined others in supporting Stay in LA, a new campaign meant to boost production staying or returning to the area in light of the region’s recent devastating wildfires.

The two stars join Zooey Deschanel, Joshua Jackson, Olivia Wilde, Alex Winter, Kevin Bacon and Connie Britton and more in signing on to the grassroots campaign, launched by Alexandra Pechman and Sarah Adina Smith, acccording to Deadline.

“The group has proposed uncapping the tax incentive for productions that shoot in LA County for the next three years as part of the overall disaster relief effort as well as calling on the studios and streamers to pledge at least 10% more production in LA over the next three years,” the publication reported.

Stay in LA is asking California Governor Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, the California State Legislature and the city council to join forces in working on passing necessary measures to incentivize entertainment production in the city.

“The fires remind us that we are nothing without each other. Los Angeles is like no place else on Earth because of the people who live here— but they can’t afford to stay and rebuild without jobs,” Smith said.

President Donald Trump recently announced that he was enlisting actors Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone and Jon Voight as “special ambassadors” to Hollywood.

Los Angeles is known for its star-studded residents, and two beloved Hollywood icons are now lending their support to the Stay in LA campaign. Keanu Reeves and Bette Midler have joined forces to encourage Angelenos to stay put and explore all that their city has to offer.

Reeves, known for his roles in films like The Matrix and John Wick, and Midler, a legendary actress and singer, have both called Los Angeles home for years. They understand the magic and allure of the City of Angels, and they want others to experience it too.

The Stay in LA campaign is a grassroots movement aimed at promoting local businesses, attractions, and events in Los Angeles. With the ongoing pandemic, many residents are choosing to stay close to home and support their community. Reeves and Midler are using their star power to shine a spotlight on all the wonderful things that LA has to offer.

From world-class restaurants and shopping to beautiful parks and beaches, there is no shortage of things to see and do in Los Angeles. Reeves and Midler are urging their fellow Angelenos to stay in LA and take advantage of everything their city has to offer.

So next time you’re thinking about heading out of town for a weekend getaway, consider staying in LA instead. You never know what hidden gems you might discover right in your own backyard. • Keanu Reeves & Bette Midler Join Stay In LA Campaign

The Stay in LA campaign is growing.

Five days after launching the campaign – designed to encourage more production to return to the city following the devastating wildfires – the group now has over 15,000 signatures to its petition.

This now includes A-listers such as Keanu Reeves and Bette Midler.

Rian Johnson, Patty Jenkins, Joey King, Zooey Deschanel, Joshua Jackson, Olivia Wilde, Alex Winter, Kevin Bacon, Connie Britton, Charlie Hunnam, Sian Heder and Jason Reitman are among the signatories to the grassroots campaign, which was launched by Alexandra Pechman and Sarah Adina Smith.

Pechman, who has written on series such as Syfy’s Channel Zero and Hulu’s Into The Dark, and Sarah Adina Smith, who has directed episodes of Apple’s Lessons in Chemistry and FX’s Legion, started the campaign with a group of about 30 filmmakers and showrunners including Nick Antosca, Julie Plec, Michael Sucsy, and Alex Winter in partnership with CA United, led by Pamala Buzick Kim, Wes Bailey, and Marie Dunaway.

The group has proposed uncapping the tax incentive for productions that shoot in LA County for the next three years as part of the overall disaster relief effort as well as calling on the studios and streamers to pledge at least 10% more production in LA over the next three years.

They want to uncap mediums to also bolster short-form productions such as commercials as well as post-production work, want to reduce or eliminate permit fees to lower the cost of production and address insurance restrictions.

They have urged Governor Newsom, Mayor Karen Bass, the California State Legislature and the LA City Council to join forces on such emergency measures.

Others who have signed the petition include actors such as Jane Levy, Alison Brie, Allison Janney, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Levar Burton, Julie Benz, Jack Huston, Kyra Sedgwick, Titus Welliver, Richard Kind, Aisha Tylor, Brenda Strong, Paget Brewster, Jake Johnson, Josh Malina, Jeri Ryan, Rosemarie Dewitt, Abbi Jacobson, Troian Bellisario, Scoot McNairy, Garret Dillahunt, Aleksa Palladino, Rachel Bloom, Robin Wright and Kathryn Hahn.

It also includes filmmakers such as Lilly Wachowski, Mike Flanagan, Jeremy Saulnier, Greg Yaitanes, Niki Caro, Rachel Morrison, Erin Lee Carr, Cord Jefferson, Destin Daniel Cretton, Kay Cannon, Reed Morano, John Logan, John Hillcoat, Emmanuel Lubezki, Michael Mann and showrunners Francesca Sloane, Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello, Bryan Fuller, Marlene King, Mara Brock Akil, Nikki Toscano, Ashley Lyle, LaToya Morgan, Liz Tigelaar, Marc Guggenheim and Charmaine DeGraté.

Sarah Adina Smith said, “The fires remind us that we are nothing without each other. Los Angeles is like no place else on Earth because of the people who live here— but they can’t afford to stay and rebuild without jobs.”

Alexandra Pechman added, “Actors, HODS, writers, producers, and directors want to live here and see their families. They don’t want to go to Bulgaria or South Africa or Canada to shoot, and that brings below-the-line jobs back to LA. But we need to incentivize people to stay here and rebuild and support our small businesses. This city was built on people coming here to make movies– let’s keep them here.”

Exciting news for all Angelenos! Hollywood icons Keanu Reeves and Bette Midler have officially joined the Stay In LA campaign, encouraging residents to continue following social distancing guidelines and staying safe during the ongoing pandemic.

Both Reeves and Midler have been vocal supporters of the campaign, emphasizing the importance of protecting our community and healthcare workers by staying home as much as possible. Their involvement adds even more star power to this crucial initiative, reminding everyone that we are all in this together.

So let’s take a cue from these beloved celebrities and do our part to keep LA safe and healthy. Stay home, stay safe, and stay in LA! #StayInLA #StaySafeLA #KeanuMidlerStaySafe

  • ‘Stay in LA’ Campaign Grows to 15K With Keanu Reeves, Patty Jenkins

Supporters of the “Stay in LA” campaign have more than doubled in the four days since it launched, with several A-listers now throwing their weight behind the petition.

Among them, Keanu Reeves, Olivia Wilde, Bette Midler, Patty Jenkins, Rian Johnson, Kevin Bacon, Joey King, Zooey Deschanel, LeVar Burton, Joshua Jackson, Alex Winter, Connie Britton, Sian Heder, Jason Reitman and Charlie Hunnam.

They join a growing list of supporters that in just three days has pushed the number of signatories from 6,000 to, as of this writing, more than 14, 729.

Organized by writer Alexandra Pechman and director Sarah Adina Smith, the petition calls for California politicians and studios to “help our beloved city rebuild itself and ensure L.A.’s future viability as a place where craftspeople, film workers and businesses thrive.” Among its proposals, it asks the state to uncap the tax incentive for productions that shoot in Los Angeles County, and urges studios and streamers to pledge at least 10% more production in L.A. over the next three years.

Many entertainment industry figures have enacted efforts to help out Los Angeles since the fires — for example, Vin Diesel announced that Universal will finish shooting “Fast X: Part 2” in Los Angeles, noting that his sister pointed out that “Los Angeles needs it now more than ever.”

The “Stay in LA” campaign has gained even more star power, with Keanu Reeves and Patty Jenkins joining the cause. The campaign, which aims to encourage people to stay in Los Angeles and support local businesses during the pandemic, has now reached over 15,000 supporters.

Reeves, known for his roles in “The Matrix” and “John Wick,” and Jenkins, the director behind “Wonder Woman” and “Monster,” have both shown their support for the campaign on social media. They have urged their followers to stay in LA and help the city recover from the economic impact of COVID-19.

With the support of these two Hollywood heavyweights, the “Stay in LA” campaign is sure to gain even more momentum. Supporters are encouraged to continue spreading the word and supporting local businesses as they navigate these challenging times. Stay in LA, support LA! #StayinLA.

  • Santander pledges to stay in the UK after firing warning shot at Reeves

Ana Botin, chairman of Santander, at the World Economic Forum
‘We love the UK,’ said Ana Botin, Santander’s chairman, at the World Economic Forum – Stefan Wermuth/Bloomberg

Santander’s chairman has insisted the bank will remain in the UK “into the future” after it emerged that the high street lender was reviewing its British operations.

Ana Botin said the Spanish bank had no plans to exit the UK market, even as she warned that Europe was in danger of becoming a “museum” filled with over-regulated firms.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, she said: “We love the UK. It’s a co-market and will remain a co-market for Santander. Punto [full stop].”

Her comments come just hours after Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor, launched an attempt to intervene in a Supreme Court case and protect lenders from paying huge compensation bills to victims of the car finance misselling scandal.

The Chancellor is reportedly concerned that the case could make it harder for drivers to obtain car finance.

Shares in Lloyds Bank rose by almost 5pc on Tuesday morning following the reports, while Close Brothers surged by as much as 21pc. Both companies are major car finance lenders.

Santander has been forced to set aside £295m to cover potential costs from the car finance scandal after the court ruling rattled the industry last year.

The high street lender has also faced intense competition for mortgages and falling interest rates as well as lower returns compared with other markets as the bank is strangled by red tape.

There remains speculation that the group is considering stepping back from retail banking, which would put thousands of jobs at risk.

It comes two decades after the Spanish lender first entered the market by buying Abbey National. Today, the bank serves more than 14m UK customers, employs 20,000 people and has more than 400 branches across the UK.

Ms Botin said it was important that European policymakers did more to help entrepreneurs start and grow a business as she warned Europe faced a “crossroads” on growth.

She said: “We are at risk of becoming a museum. A lot of the innovation is actually happening in Europe. You know, we have a huge amount of start-ups. The issue is that they start here and then they go to the United States. I think Europe has a huge opportunity to lead.”

Santander, one of the largest banks in the UK, has recently confirmed its commitment to staying in the country despite firing a warning shot at the shadow chancellor, Rachel Reeves. In a statement released by the bank, they made it clear that they have no plans to leave the UK and are dedicated to serving their customers and supporting the economy.

The warning shot at Reeves came after she criticized the bank for its high executive pay and lack of diversity in its leadership team. However, Santander has defended its practices and stated that they are working towards increasing diversity and inclusion within the organization.

This pledge to stay in the UK is a reassuring sign for customers and employees of Santander, as well as for the overall stability of the financial sector in the country. It also sends a strong message that the bank is willing to engage in constructive dialogue with policymakers and work towards positive change in the industry.

Overall, Santander’s commitment to staying in the UK is a positive development and demonstrates their dedication to serving the needs of their customers and the wider community.

  • Keir Starmer eyes up 10 YEARS in power as Rachel Reeves compares herself to Thatcher

Sir Keir Starmer has been eyeing-up 10-years in Downing Street as the Prime Minister vows to spearhead a “decade of national renewal”.

Starmer, who romped to victory in the 2024 General Election, suffering from one of the earliest ends to a honeymoon period in British political history.

A series of MRP polls suggest that Labour would no longer command a majority in the House of Commons, with Reform UK and the Tories emerging as major beneficiaries.

Speaking about his ambition to remain in No10 for a decade, the Prime Minister said: “We are now, what? Four and a half years before the next election?

    Keir Starmer

“I remind myself that four and a half years ago, Boris Johnson was Prime Minister with very high ratings – and most commentators were saying he was going to be Prime Minister for the next 10 years.

“I am a great believer in taking each step as it comes, facing each challenge as it comes, keeping my eye on the long term and not getting distracted by the noise.”

Asked if he was personally committed to serving two terms as Prime Minister, Starmer said: “Yes. We want a decade of national renewal.

“I always said this will take time… I intend to lead from the front.”

Chancellor Rachel Reeves also surprised many by comparing herself to 11-year Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher earlier today.

She told the BBC that she was happy to be known as the “Iron Lady”.

Echoing Thatcher’s 1983 slogan, Reeves added that there is “no alternative” to her policies.

Following market turmoil last week, the Prime Minister was forced to confirm that Reeves would remain Chancellor until the next General Election.

However, opposition to Starmer’s Government has increased since the 2024 General Election.

More than three million people have already signed a petition demanding an immediate General Election.

Publican Michael Westwood, who created the petition, claimed it is time for another poll after accusing Labour of breaking a number of its manifesto commitments

Starmer will hope he can emulate Thatcher’s first term.

The Iron Lady witnessed her support slump as her monetarist policies initially hit the buffers.

The Tories lost hundreds of councillors and four by-elections.

However, as the economy started to turn around and Thatcher benefited from a Falklands bounce, Conservative support soared, leading to another landslide victory in 1983.

As Keir Starmer sets his sights on a decade in power, Rachel Reeves has drawn comparisons to the Iron Lady herself, Margaret Thatcher. The Labour leader has been vocal about his ambitions to lead the party for a significant period of time, with hopes of implementing lasting change and securing a long-term future for the party.

Reeves, who recently took on the role of Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, has been making waves in the party with her bold statements and strong leadership. In a recent interview, she likened herself to Thatcher, stating that she too is determined to make a lasting impact on the country and reshape the political landscape.

With Starmer and Reeves at the helm, it looks like Labour is gearing up for a period of significant transformation and potential dominance in UK politics. Only time will tell if their ambitions will come to fruition, but one thing is for certain: they are not backing down anytime soon.

  • Keanu Reeves Gives Disappointing John Wick 5 Update

Keanu Reeves Gives Disappointing John Wick 5 Update

    Summary

    • The John Wick franchise has grossed over $1 billion, with Reeves as the lead in all four movies.
    • Reeves hesitates about a fifth installment due to physical demands but doesn’t completely rule it out.
    • The potential ending in Chapter 4 could serve as a perfect conclusion, leaving Chapter 5 unnecessary.

The John Wick franchise is one of the most popular in modern times, with the action blockbusters proving to be a massive hit with moviegoers. The franchise has grossed more than $1 billion combined, which has helped to make the films a box office sensation. Keanu Reeves has played a significant role in making that happen as the lead role in all four John Wick movies.

The films have created unique stories set in their own universe but are best known for the incredible action scenes that push the boundaries of what people expect from the genre. Audiences are guaranteed to see Reeves take on his iconic role at least once more in the upcoming spinoff, Ballerina. However, whether or not there will be a John Wick: Chapter 5 remains to be seen.

Who among these villains is the baddest of them all to dare go against the Baba Yaga himself, John Wick?

While a fifth installment in this franchise might be something lots of people want to see, Reeves provided some disappointing news about the possibility to CBS News. He said, “You can never say never,” Reeves said. My knees right now are saying, ‘I can’t do another John Wick.So my heart does, but I don’t know if my knees can do it.”

Of course, taking on a role such as Wick will always be demanding on the body, and that’s why Reeves is hesitant about committing himself to making another one. The popular actor has previously given unclear answers when asked about the future of the franchise and whether or not a fifth movie would happen, and a lot of that decision would ultimately come down to him. Audiences would certainly be open to seeing one more adventure within this world due to the high consistency of the franchise thus far, but they would also only want that to happen if everyone involved was fully committed to the project.

A fifth John Wick movie would certainly prove to be popular with audiences, but the franchise doesn’t hang in the balance of one happening. John Wick: Chapter 4 did provide a potentially perfect ending to this character with his presumable death after competing in one final duel to get himself off the High Table. Wick seemingly dies in the final scene showcasing his gravestone, and while that doesn’t guarantee anything in the world of cinema, the mysterious, open-ended possibilities would be a perfect ending to this particular franchise and this character.

Ultimately, audiences wouldn’t want to see John Wick: Chapter 5 if it couldn’t live up to its predecessors, and a lot of that would be on Reeves’ shoulders. Even though his performance in the titular role is about much more than just the action that takes place in these movies, they do play such a significant part that Reeves not being physically capable of pulling it off would leave people feeling underwhelmed. The fact that he’s taking the character’s integrity so seriously should be seen as a positive, as it means that if John Wick: Chapter 5 gets made, then it will be done to the highest standard.

A retired hitman is drawn back into the criminal underworld.

Fans of the John Wick franchise were left disappointed after hearing the latest update on John Wick 5 from Keanu Reeves himself. The beloved actor recently revealed that the highly anticipated sequel may not happen as soon as fans had hoped.

In a recent interview, Reeves explained that due to scheduling conflicts and the uncertainty surrounding the current global pandemic, production on John Wick 5 has been delayed indefinitely. This news comes as a blow to fans who were eagerly awaiting the next installment in the action-packed series.

Reeves expressed his disappointment at the situation, stating that he is just as eager to return to the role of John Wick as fans are to see him back in action. However, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety and ensuring that the film can be made in a way that does justice to the character and the story.

While this update may be disappointing for fans, it’s clear that Reeves and the rest of the John Wick team are committed to delivering a film that lives up to the high expectations set by the previous installments. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see John Wick back on the big screen, taking down bad guys in his signature style.

Keanu Reeves Casts Doubt on a ‘John Wick 5’ Return

Keanu Reeves has taken on hordes of assassins, survived near-impossible shootouts, and outwitted every underworld boss imaginable, but it seems he’s finally met an enemy even John Wick can’t defeat—getting up from a chair without cursing in pain. In a recent interview with CBS News promoting his role in Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Reeves candidly shared his doubts about returning for a fifth John Wick film, despite admitting that he would love nothing more than to put the suit on again and shoot some bad guys extremely precisely in the head.

Reeves was speaking after the explosive success of John Wick: Chapter 4, which left his character…well…dead. The series is infamous for its demanding action sequences, with Reeves dedicating months to training for combat and stunts. Still, after four punishing movies, it’s understandable that Reeves would be considering retiring from the physically demanding role.

You can never say never,” Reeves admitted, before adding:

“My knees right now are saying, ‘I can’t do another John Wick.’ So my heart does, but I don’t know if my knees can do it.”

If John Wick 5 does happen, it looks like Reeves might be trading bulletproof suits for knee braces and action-packed car chases for cautious trips across icy sidewalks like the rest of us.

Will Keanu Reeves Play John Wick Again?

Despite Keanu Knee-ves’ latest comments, we haven’t seen the last of Reeves as the Baba Yaga. The actor is set to reprise his role in the John Wick spin-off film Ballerina, led by Ana de Armas and taking place in between the events of the third and fourth films, which should allow Reeves the chance to get back into the world of assassins without having to shoulder the full weight of the franchise. We don’t yet know if it’s a supporting role or just a cameo, but given that he’s in the trailer, it should be at least more than one scene. Plus you couldn’t possibly have John Wick in a film and not have him shoot somebody or kill a bad guy with a f*cking pencil.

Ballerina is due in theaters on June 6, 2025. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates on the project and watch John Wick: Chapter 4 on Starz.

Keanu Reeves Casts Doubt on a ‘John Wick 5’ Return

Fans of the popular action franchise ‘John Wick’ may be disappointed to hear that Keanu Reeves has cast doubt on the possibility of returning for a fifth installment in the series.

In a recent interview, Reeves expressed uncertainty about the future of the character, stating that he was unsure if there was more story to tell for John Wick. He also mentioned that he didn’t want to overstay his welcome in the role and risk diluting the impact of the character.

While this news may come as a disappointment to fans who were hoping for more high-octane, gun-fu action from the beloved assassin, Reeves’ concerns about the quality and longevity of the series are understandable. After all, it’s better to leave fans wanting more than to overstay one’s welcome.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that a ‘John Wick 5’ is completely off the table, but for now, it seems like Reeves is taking a cautious approach to the future of the franchise. Only time will tell if we will see John Wick back in action once again.

Batman will be returning to the big screen in 2026 as Robert Pattinson suits-up once more for the sequel to Matt Reeves’ hit Gotham thriller.

The Batman Part 2 will follow on from the events of the first film which saw the Riddler take explosive revenge on the city, bringing forth a biblical-like flood.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Reeves detailed how the upcoming sequel will see the Dark Knight struggle in the wake of Riddler’s destruction.

Reeves revealed cinema-goers can expect to see the beloved DC vigilante wrestling with his views on justice in The Batman Part 2 as he reflects on the rights and wrongs in society.

“There’s a lot of unrest and there’s a lot of clamouring because of the revelations of what we find out at the end of the [first] movie,” he teased. “There’s unrest in the streets to say, ‘Well, how could this be?’. The idea that this corruption extends as deep as it extends.

“In the first movie, Batman views things very simplistically, he sees things in black and white. What he can represent and how he can affect that.”

“As we enter into the next movie, there’s a lot more grey,” Reeves continued. “There’s a lot more people at odds. There’s a lot more division in the city. It’s a lot more like our world is now, there’s a lot of turmoil because people are in their camps and they’re not communicating.

“How does Batman fit into that? Where do you fit? It’s not as clear as going, ‘Oh yeah, bad guy, I go after bad guys’.

“And when things are in grey, it makes it very hard to be Batman, so this is part of the challenge as we enter it.”

“[Batman’s] out there trying to grapple with the aftermath of everything that happened, which to some degree he blames himself for,” he said.

Accountability for Learning: How Teachers Can Foster Responsibility in Students

In his book “Accountability for Learning,” education expert Douglas Reeves explores the importance of instilling a sense of responsibility in students for their own learning outcomes. Reeves argues that when students are held accountable for their academic progress, they are more likely to take ownership of their education and strive for success.

One key way that teachers can foster accountability in students is by setting clear expectations and goals. By clearly outlining what is expected of them and what they need to achieve, students are better able to understand their role in the learning process. Teachers can also provide regular feedback and assessments to help students track their progress and make adjustments as needed.

Another important aspect of accountability is creating a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to take risks and learn from their mistakes. Teachers can encourage students to reflect on their learning process, set goals for improvement, and take responsibility for their actions.

Overall, accountability for learning is essential for helping students develop the skills and mindset needed for success in school and beyond. By fostering a sense of responsibility in students, teachers can empower them to take control of their education and reach their full potential.
