Zaccharie Risacher Sits Out Tuesday’s Game
2 days agoAtlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher (adductor) will not suit up for Tuesday’s meeting with the Houston Rockets. The top pick of last year’s draft was back from a six-game absence on Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, logging 20 minutes, but he will come out of the lineup on Tuesday for adductor injury management purposes. De’Andre Hunter went off for a big 35-point game against Minnesota and looks set for a vital role again on Tuesday. Additionally, Vit Krejci and Garrison Mathews are likely to see additional action as well.

The New York Knicks announced that forward Zaccharie Risacher will sit out Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers due to a minor knee injury. Risacher, who has been a key player for the Knicks this season, is expected to return to action for their next game.Fans are disappointed to see Risacher sidelined, as he has been a standout player for the team with his scoring and defensive abilities. However, the Knicks are confident in their depth and are hopeful that other players will step up in Risacher’s absence.
Stay tuned for updates on Risacher’s injury status and his potential return to the lineup. In the meantime, let’s wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the court soon. #NBA #Knicks #ZaccharieRisacher #InjuryUpdate

#Zaccharie #Risacher #Sits #Tuesdays #Game #NBA #NewsTuesday’s BYU-Baylor clash is drawing hordes of NBA scouts – Deseret News
Two of the top freshmen guards and 2025 NBA draft prospects in the country, BYU’s Egor Demin and Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe, will square off Tuesday night when the Cougars host the Bears in a pivotal Big 12 battle at the Marriott Center.
Naturally, it has drawn the attention of pro scouts, who are expected to flock to Provo to watch the teenagers who are expected to be one-and-done college players and enter June’s draft, although Demin has pointed out several times this season that he has never said anything definitive on the matter.
“There has been a lot of traffic in and out of here. I get calls all the time. A bunch of people coming tomorrow as well,” BYU coach Kevin Young said Monday in his weekly press briefing via Zoom.

How many scouts are expected?
BYU basketball spokesperson Tyson Jex reported that as of 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, 26 scouts representing 13 NBA teams had requested credentials.
“It is the most we have had this year,” Jex said. “I know that off the top of my head.”
BYU (13-6, 4-4) and Demin didn’t play well the past two times that dozens of NBA scouts flocked to the Cougars’ games, losing 83-64 at Providence and 86-55 at Houston. Demin went 0 for 10 from the field (but was 6 of 6 from the line) on Dec. 3 at Providence while battling a knee contusion that would sideline him the remainder of the month, and was 1 of 6 at Houston, with seven assists and three turnovers.
The 18-year-old from Moscow, Russia, has played significantly better the past two games, going 4 of 7 for eight points and seven assists in the win at Colorado and 3 of 5 for 15 points and seven assists in the 80-52 crushing of Cincinnati last Saturday.
“Certainly it is a step in the right direction for him. He is a guy, even when he was going through some rough times, his confidence never really wavered. I think he was just trying to figure things out. When I say figure things out, I just mean the style of play, defenses, who he is playing with, and so forth,” Young said of the young star.
“I think a lot of things are starting to get smoothed out for him. You have a game like that where you make shots, and you make free throws, I definitely think it will give him an added boost of confidence,” Young continued. “But I have been happy with how he has approached going through some tough times.”
After Saturday’s game, Demin said he is feeling “better and better” with each passing day and feeling “more and more comfortable” with the physical, rugged style of basketball played in the Big 12.
Demin said he is looking forward to facing Baylor and Edgecombe, having followed the successful program and highly recruited prospect from the Bahamas even when he was playing in Europe.
Edgecombe, 19, a 6-foot-5 wing, has played well all season, but has really upped his production the past six games. He had 30 and 21 points, respectively, in blowouts of Kansas State and Utah last week and is averaging 14.2 points, second on the team behind 6-foot-7 forward Norchad Omier’s 15.4.
“Yeah, VJ is dynamic. He is one of the most dynamic players in the country. He has got a lot of upside,” Young said. “Athletically, they are really good, not just with him, but across the board.”
With Baylor’s NET ranking standing at 28 and BYU’s at 38, it will be one of the marquee games in all of college basketball on Tuesday night, and not just because of the matchup of fabulous freshmen. It will also begin a string where eight of BYU’s next nine games are Quad 1 games, if current rankings hold.
“It is going to be a really big matchup, and I am glad we get them here,” said another of BYU’s players who is starting to draw some NBA attention, 6-5 junior wing Richie Saunders.
Baylor (13-6, 5-3) edged BYU 81-72 last January at the new Foster Pavilion in Waco, Texas, then fell 78-71 on Feb. 20 in Provo despite enjoying a 21-9 advantage at the free-throw line in a physical game that featured 35 fouls.
Neither Langston Love (ankle) nor Jeremy Roach (concussion) played against Utah, and both are day-to-day for Tuesday night’s game, a Baylor basketball spokesperson told the Tribune-Herald of Waco.
“As athletic as they are, I think we play a bit faster. So it will be interesting matchup stylistically,” Young said. “We will have to do a good job of neutralizing their athleticism with good team defense, and then (use) our ability to space the floor on the other end and make quick decisions like we like to play.”
Scouts will probably keep an eye on another BYU freshman, 6-9 forward Kanon Catchings, as well. A four-star recruit who was rated No. 35 in the ESPN Top 100 but has struggled to adjust to the physicality of the college game, Catchings hasn’t scored in double figures since getting 11 in the Big 12 opener against Arizona State. But the Indiana native did have a good game off the bench against Cincinnati, going 3 of 5 from deep.
“We obviously have an NBA lens on everything that we are doing. So like, when I talk to my friends in the NBA, yeah, I think those guys are clearly on radars,” Young said of Demin and Catchings. “… So we have had no shortage of eyes on those guys. A lot of that stuff kind of plays itself out as the season goes along, and as draft season goes along, as workouts go along, as interviews go along.
“So yeah, I do think they will be there (in the NBA) sooner rather than later, but that is a relative statement,” Young concluded.
Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe drives the ball to the basket in a Big 12 contest against TCU Sunday, Jan.19, 2025, in Waco, Texas. Edgecombe and the Bears will take to the Marriott Center country in Provo on Tuesday night to take on the suddenly-surging Cougars. | Jerry Larson, Associated Press
The highly anticipated matchup between BYU and Baylor on Tuesday night is not only attracting college basketball fans, but also drawing the attention of NBA scouts. Both teams are loaded with talent and potential future NBA players, making this game a must-watch for scouts looking to evaluate top prospects.BYU boasts a dynamic duo in Alex Barcello and Caleb Lohner, who have been turning heads with their impressive performances this season. Barcello, a senior guard, is a skilled playmaker and sharpshooter, while Lohner, a sophomore forward, has been dominating on both ends of the court.
On the other side, Baylor features a talented roster led by guards James Akinjo and Adam Flagler, who have been key contributors to the team’s success. Akinjo, a transfer from Arizona, is a dynamic scorer and facilitator, while Flagler is a sharpshooter who can light it up from beyond the arc.
With so much talent on display, NBA scouts will be closely monitoring this game to evaluate the players’ skills, potential, and readiness for the next level. This matchup could have a significant impact on the draft stock of several players, making it a crucial opportunity for them to showcase their abilities on a big stage.
Don’t miss out on the action as BYU and Baylor face off in what promises to be a thrilling showdown with NBA implications. Tune in to see which players rise to the occasion and catch the attention of scouts looking for the next big star in college basketball.

What to know about Tuesday’s game at St. Bonaventure
The Dayton Flyers, for example, will fly from Dayton to Buffalo, N.Y., on Monday and then ride a bus 70 miles south through western New York. The only comparable trips are: to Davidson, which is about a 21-mile ride from Charlotte; to Rhode Island, which is 30 miles from Providence, or 17 miles from Newport, where Dayton stays the night before games; or Massachusetts, where the Flyers have about a 24-mile drive to UMass in Amherst.
Dayton (14-6, 4-3) plays St. Bonaventure (15-6, 3-5) at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reilly Center with a chance to earn its fourth straight victory and second straight road win since a 0-2 start in A-10 road games.
The game against the Bonnies starts a long week for Dayton. The team will fly from Buffalo to St. Louis on Wednesday. It will spend two nights there before playing the Billikens at Chaifetz Arena on Friday. The Flyers more often travel home to Dayton between games if they have two road games in the same week. The late start of the game Tuesday, combined with the drive to the airport in Buffalo, led to UD’s decision to head straight to its next game rather than flying home for one day.
The Flyers felt good about the direction of their season after an 82-62 victory at Duquesne on Tuesday and then a 77-72 victory against Saint Joseph’s on Friday. They needed the road win, in particular, after losses at George Washington and Massachusetts earlier in the month.
“It was just a good way to bounce back,” said Dayton forward Nate Santos, who scored 24 points Friday. “We’ve got to continue to stay focused. We know that we’re heading into some great environments. We’ve got to continue to stay together and just keep this thing rolling.”
Here are 10 things to know about Dayton’s 21st game:
1. Series history: Dayton leads the series 29-11. It has won eight of the last nine matchups.
Dayton beat St. Bonaventure 76-71 at UD Arena last season. DaRon Holmes II tied a career high with 34 points.
The last time Dayton played at St. Bonaventure in 2023, the Bonnies ended a seven-game losing streak in the series with a 68-59 victory. That was also Dayton’s first loss at the Reilly Center, where it had won six straight games, since 2012. Dayton is 10-2 at the arena since losing its first three games there from 1997-2001.
2. State of the program: This is the 18th season of Mark Schmidt’s tenure at St. Bonaventure. He has led the program to three NCAA tournament appearances and six 20-win seasons.
The Bonnies finished 20-13 last season and 9-9 in the A-10. They lost their top six scorers from last season and were picked to finish 10th out of 15 teams in the A-10 preseason poll.

St. Bonaventure opened A-10 play with a 77-75 victory against Virginia Commonwealth. Melvin Council Jr. made the game-winning layup with 3 seconds to play. St. Bonaventure then beat Fordham to start 2-0.
Since that perfect start, the Bonnies have lost five of their last six games. At VCU on Friday, St. Bonaventure built a 33-25 halftime lead but was outscored 50-28 in the second half and lost 75-61.
4. Standings update: Virginia Commonwealth (16-4, 6-1) and George Mason (15-5, 6-1) share first place one third of the way through the A-10 schedule. Both have won five games in a row.
Saint Louis (12-8, 5-2) sits alone in third place after losing 67-61 at George Washington (14-6, 3-4) on Saturday.
Duquesne (9-11, 4-3) lost 65-63 at Fordham (9-11, 1-6) on Sunday to fall into a tie for fifth place with Dayton and Massachusetts (9-11, 4-3).
5. New staff member: St. Bonaventure hired famous NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski as the program’s general manager in September.
6. Transfer portal loss: Chad Venning, a 6-foot-10 fifth-year forward, led St. Bonaventure with 13.4 points per game last season. He’s now the second-leading scorer (12.8) at Boston College.
7. Top returner: Noel Brown, a 6-11 fifth-year center, ranked seventh in scoring last season (6.1) last season and ranks third (12.5) in scoring this season.
8. Top newcomers: Chance Moore, a 6-5 senior guard, leads the team in scoring (14.5) and rebounding (5.4). • Lajae Jones, a 6-7 junior guard, ranks fifth in scoring (10.4). He played at Barton Community College in Kansas last season. He and Council both played all 40 minutes against VCU.
The five starters played all but six minutes in the last game. St. Bonaventure ranks 360th out of 364 Division I teams in the percentage of minutes played by reserves (18.1%).
9. Strengths and weaknesses: St. Bonaventure ranks 46th in the country in average height. The five starters measure between 6-3 and 6-11.
• Teams have shot 38.3% against St. Bonaventure in A-10 play. That’s the highest mark in the conference. Dayton ranks 12th (37.4%).
10. Odds & Ends: KenPom.com gives Dayton an 49% chance of winning and predicts a 70-69 score. Dayton climbed from No. 62 to No. 61 in the Pomeroy ratings after beating Saint Joseph’s. St. Bonaventure is No. 92.
• Dayton ranks 66th in the NCAA Evaluation Tool. It is the second highest-ranked A-10 team behind No. 45 VCU. No. 90 St. Bonaventure is the fifth highest-ranked A-10 team.
This is a Quadrant 2 game for both teams. Dayton is 2-3 in Quad 1 games, 1-1 in Quad 2, 5-2 in Quad 3 and 5-0 in Quad 4. St. Bonaventure is 0-2 in Quad 1, 2-2 in Quad 2, 5-1 in Quad 3 and 7-1 in Quad 4.

#Tuesdays #game #BonaventureWatch Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Lakers: How to live stream, TV channel, start time for Tuesday’s NBA game
Who’s Playing
Los Angeles Lakers @ Philadelphia 76ers
Current Records: Los Angeles 26-18, Philadelphia 17-27
How To Watch
What to Know
The 76ers will be in front of their home fans on Tuesday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-court advantage. They will host the Los Angeles Lakers at 7:30 p.m. ET at Wells Fargo Center. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The 76ers are headed into this one after the oddsmakers set last week’s over/under low at 231.5, but even that wound up being too high. They came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 109-97 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Philadelphia.
Among those leading the charge was Tyrese Maxey, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine assists. The contest was his tenth in a row with at least 30 points. Less helpful for the 76ers was Guerschon Yabusele’s abysmal 0-5 three-point shooting.
Even though they won, the 76ers struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only six offensive rebounds. They’re 2-5 when they can’t control their own glass like that.
Meanwhile, the Lakers waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins… but they left with four. They secured a 112-107 W over Charlotte.
Anthony Davis was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 42 points and 23 rebounds.
Philadelphia’s win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-27. As for Los Angeles, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they’ve won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-18 record this season.
Not only did both teams in this Tuesday’s match win their last matches, they also took care of their bettors and covered the spread. As for their next game, the Lakers are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by four points. This contest will be Philadelphia’s ninth straight as the underdogs (so far over this stretch they are 2-5-1 against the spread).
The 76ers came up short against the Lakers when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 116-106. Will the 76ers have more luck at home instead of on the road?
Odds
Los Angeles is a 4-point favorite against Philadelphia, according to the latest NBA odds.
The oddsmakers were right in line with the betting community on this one, as the game opened as a 4-point spread, and stayed right there.
The over/under is 216.5 points.

What to Know
Rhode Island will be in front of their home fans on Tuesday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-court advantage. They and the VCU Rams will face off in an Atlantic 10 battle at 7:00 p.m. ET at Thomas M. Ryan Center. Rhode Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they’ve averaged 80.4 points per game this season.
Rhode Island’s offense and defense might be a bit winded after their high-scoring matchup with Davidson on Saturday. Rhode Island skirted by Davidson 92-90 thanks to a clutch shot from Sebastian Thomas with but a second left in the second quarter. Kudos to the oddsmakers for accurately forecasting both the winner and the close margin.
Rhode Island can attribute much of their success to Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten assists. The contest was Thomas’ eighth in a row with at least 22.4 points. Another player making a difference was Jaden House, who went 8 for 11 en route to 19 points.
Rhode Island was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That’s the most assists they’ve posted since back in November of 2023.
Meanwhile, VCU waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins… but they left with four. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 78-69. 78 seems to be a good number for the Rams as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead VCU to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Clark, who went 5 for 8 en route to 18 points plus seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeb Jackson, who scored 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and two steals.
Rhode Island’s victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for VCU, they have been performing well recently as they’ve won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rhode Island has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 39.7 rebounds per game. However, it’s not like VCU struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 38.6. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we’ll see if one team can grab an edge.
Rhode Island suffered a grim 88-67 defeat to VCU in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That game was pretty much over by halftime, at which point Rhode Island was down 42-21.
Odds
VCU is a big 7.5-point favorite against Rhode Island, according to the latest college basketball odds.
The oddsmakers had a good feel for the line for this one, as the game opened with the Rams as a 6.5-point favorite.
The over/under is 147.5 points.

Watch Duquesne Dukes vs. Dayton Flyers: How to live stream, TV channel, start time for Tuesday’s NCAA Basketball game
Who’s Playing
Dayton Flyers @ Duquesne Dukes
Current Records: Dayton 12-6, Duquesne 9-9
How To Watch
What to Know
Duquesne will be in front of their home fans on Tuesday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-court advantage. They and the Dayton Flyers will face off in an Atlantic 10 battle at 7:00 p.m. ET at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. The Dukes will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Saturday, Duquesne strolled past St. Bona. with points to spare, taking the game 75-57.
Among those leading the charge was Maximus Edwards, who went 6 for 8 en route to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in threes (five). Another player making a difference was Tre Dinkins III, who had ten points along with six assists and two steals.
Duquesne was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Bona. only posted nine.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Dayton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted by Loyola Chi. 83-81 on a last-minute layup from Amael L’Etang with but a second left in the third quarter. The victory was some much needed relief for the Flyers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Dayton can attribute much of their success to Enoch Cheeks, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points plus seven rebounds and five steals. Cheeks continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he’s played. What to know about Tuesday’s game at Duquesne
On Saturday after Dayton beat Loyola Chicago 83-81 on an alley-oop pass from Malachi Smith to Amaël L’Etang in the final seconds of overtime, Grant answered a question about the progression of L’Etang this season and then veered off in another direction.
“To me, it’s always got to be the team,” Grant said. “We’re in a day and age where everybody wants to make it about so much other stuff, man, and it gets in these kids’ heads. It’s just really hard for them. You fight it as a coach. You fight it because you see that they can get sidetracked.”
Grant said it’s important to focus on “what it’s supposed to be about and stop trying to make it something else. It’s the team. That’s where the joy is. Not everybody gets to do it. I don’t know if all of you (the media in the press conference) have had a chance to be a part of the team. Man, there’s nothing (like it). Where else can you get that? You can’t get that anywhere else in life.”
Grant said it’s important to understand the joy he saw when he walked into the locker room after the victory and saw the “excitement that they had for each other in coming together and getting the win. Where else are you finding that? Let’s keep it about that. That’s what it’s about.”
Explore» ARCHDEACON: A play that will go down in Flyers’ lore Joy and excitement were in short supply in the Dayton locker room in the first weeks of 2025 after three straight losses to George Washington, Massachusetts and George Mason. Dayton’s chances of earning a NCAA tournament at-large berth and winning the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season championship took big hits. It has a slim margin for error now with 13 A-10 games to play.
To keep the good feelings going after a memorable victory at UD Arena, the Flyers (12-6, 2-3) will have to win a true road game for the first time this season. They play Duquesne (9-9, 4-1) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh. Here are 10 things to know about the game:
1. Series history: Dayton leads the series 63-25. The Flyers had won five straight games against the Dukes and 11 of the last 12 games in the series before losing 65-57 in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament quarterfinals last March. Duquesne then won the tournament to earn its first NCAA tournament berth since 1977.
Dayton swept the regular-season series last season, beating Duquesne 72-62 in Pittsburgh and then 75-59 at UD Arena.
2. UD injury news: Dayton guard Marvel Allen has not been on the bench for the last two games. He underwent a second knee surgery last week. UD announced in November he would miss the season with a knee injury and would need two surgeries. The first one took place just before the season started.
“It’s going to be a long process for him,” Grant said. “His family was in town for a few days. He’s not mobile as of yet, so we really haven’t seen him. From what I heard, it’s just a matter of allowing the process to take its course, and hopefully he’ll make a full recovery.”
Post Alexander missed his second straight game with a foot injury Saturday, though he did not wear a protective boot as he sat on the bench during the game as he did in the previous game against George Mason.
Zed Key landed on his back after a foul in the first half Saturday. He returned to the game in the second half but wasn’t moving well. He returned to the bench after a two-minute stint and didn’t play again.
“Hopefully, it’s nothing that’ll keep him out,” Grant said, “but we’ll have to wait and see.”
3. New coach: Dru Joyce III, Duquesne’s associate head coach the last two seasons, took over the program when Keith Dambrot retired after last season. Joyce played high school basketball at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary with LeBron James.
Dambrot had a record of 116-96 in seven seasons.
4. Season summary: Duquesne opened the season with six straight losses to Lipscomb, Princeton, DePaul, Milwaukee, South Dakota State and Hampton. It has since won nine of its last 12 games.
Duquesne beat UC Irvine 72-54 for its best non-conference victory on Dec. 21. Irvine is now 17-2.
In A-10 play, Duquesne is 3-0 at home with victories against Rhode Island, Saint Joseph’s and St. Bonaventure. On the road, it lost to Davidson and beat George Washington.
In a 75-57 victory against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Duquesne shot 41.2% (14 of 34) from 3-point range.
5. Standings update: George Mason (14-5, 5-1) has a half-game lead over Virginia Commonwealth (14-4, 4-1), Saint Louis (11-7, 4-1) and Duquesne (9-9, 4-1).
Dayton is tied for eighth place with Saint Joseph’s (11-7, 2-3), Davidson (12-6, 2-3), George Washington (13-5, 2-3), Loyola Chicago (11-7, 2-3) and La Salle (10-8, 2-3).
6. Roster losses: Duquesne’s two leading scorers, guards Dae Dae Grant (16.4 points per game) and Jimmy Clark (15.0), played their final seasons of college basketball last season.
7. Top returners: David Dixon, a 6-9 junior forward, ranked third in scoring last season (7.2) and ranks seventh this season (5.8).
• Jake DiMichele, a 6-4 sophomore guard, ranked fifth in scoring (6.4) last season and is second (10.9) this season.
8. Top newcomers: Tre Dinkins, a 6-2 junior guard, leads the team in scoring (11.3). He played the last two seasons at Canisius.
• Jahsean Corbett, a 6-6 senior forward, ranks third in scoring (9.8) and first in rebounding (5.8). He played the last three seasons at Chicago State.
9. Strengths and Weaknesses: Duquesne has shot 35.8% from 3-point range in A-10 play. That’s the fourth-best mark in the conference. Dayton ranks ninth (33%).
Duquesne shoots 64.2% from the free-throw line. It ranks 350th in the country out of 364 teams. Dayton shoots 73.5%, which ranks 132nd.
10. Odds & Ends: KenPom.com gives Dayton an 59% chance of winning and predicts a 69-67 score. Dayton fell from No. 59 to No. 67 in the Pomeroy ratings after beating Loyola. Duquesne ranked as low as No. 231 in December and is now No. 123.
• Dayton ranks 74th in the NCAA Evaluation Tool. It is the second highest-ranked A-10 team behind No. 56 VCU. No. 136 Duquesne is the 10th highest-ranked A-10 team.
