  • Jay Z Wants Lawyer Fined Over Lawsuit Accusing Him and Diddy of Rape

    • Jay-Z is seeking sanctions over a “Jane Doe” lawsuit that accuses him and Diddy of rape.
    • He wants the case dismissed and the Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, to pay a cash fine.
    • The lawsuit alleges Jay-Z and Diddy raped the 13-year-old Doe after the 2000 VMA awards.

Rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter is fighting back against a lawsuit that alleges he and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13-year-old girl during a Video Music Awards after-party in 2000.

In a legal filing Wednesday, the music entrepreneur asks a federal judge in Manhattan to dismiss the lawsuit and order monetary sanctions against Tony Buzbee, the Texas attorney who sued over the alleged incident in October.

The rape claim suffers from “substantial inaccuracies” which should have led Buzbee to drop the lawsuit, Carter’s filing says.

Those include woman’s father telling NBC News he had no memory of picking his distraught young daughter up from the after-party and driving her home as described in the lawsuit.

“It strains credulity,” Carter’s filing says, “that a father — impelled to jump into his car in the middle of the night to undertake a minimum 10-hour round trip to pick up his 13-year-old daughter at a random gas station—would forget the entire episode.”

Buzbee has also been unable to explain why the Alabama woman who filed the suit, now in her late-30s, told NBC News in December that she had a conversation at the after-party with rapper Benji Madden, whose distinctive “The Last Supper” tattoo she described to the network. Madden later told NBC that he was touring the Midwest during the VMAs that year.

Combs and Carter have both denied the sexual assault.

“A single, initial media interview turned up glaring problems that counsel had either ignored or never investigated,” Wednesday’s Carter filing, drafted by Manhattan attorney Alex Spiro, complains.

In court filings, Buzbee has dismissed both inconsistencies as unsurprising memory lapses.

“Calling this a ‘memory lapse’ cannot obscure counsel’s lapses in investigating whether multi-decade-old recollections aligned with reality,” Carter’s filing says.

“These factual discrepancies are neither isolated nor surprising. They result from Mr. Buzbee’s rush to launch allegations unhindered by mandatory diligence,” the filing says, asking the judge assigned to the lawsuit to impose unspecified cash damages and drop the lawsuit.

Reached for comment Wednesday night, Buzbee said, “With every frantic filing the defense in this case grows more desperate. The rules apply equally to everyone, even those who wrongly think they are above the law. No one is above the law.”

The original lawsuit was brought against Combs, his companies, and unnamed accomplices, including “Celebrity A.” Carter was identified as Celebrity A when the suit was amended December.

Since then, Buzbee and Carter have traded barbs in public statements and court documents, including a previous filing by the rapper seeking dismissal and sanctions. Two weeks after Carter was named as “Celebrity A” in the revised lawsuit, Buzbee filed a new lawsuit accusing Carter’s Roc Nation of trying to intimidate his law firm and turn his plaintiffs against him.

“This conduct was specifically targeted at our firm so we would not pursue cases related to the Diddy litigation,” Buzbee said at the time in a statement to Business Insider. “But, we will not be bullied or intimidated.”

Jay Z filed a motion in court requesting for the lawyer representing the woman accusing him and Diddy of rape to be fined for filing a frivolous lawsuit. The lawsuit, which alleges that Jay Z and Diddy drugged and sexually assaulted the woman, has been vehemently denied by both artists.

In the court documents, Jay Z’s legal team argues that the lawsuit is baseless and lacks any credible evidence to support the claims made by the woman. They go on to accuse the lawyer of filing the lawsuit as a publicity stunt and an attempt to tarnish the reputations of both Jay Z and Diddy.

The motion for the lawyer to be fined comes as a response to what Jay Z and Diddy’s legal team see as a blatant abuse of the legal system. They are seeking to hold the lawyer accountable for what they believe to be a malicious attempt to defame their clients.

As the legal battle continues, it remains to be seen whether the court will grant Jay Z’s motion for the lawyer to be fined. In the meantime, both Jay Z and Diddy continue to maintain their innocence and refute the allegations made against them.

  • Detroit’s Isaiah Stewart suspended and fined by NBA after flagrant-foul ejection in loss to Pacers

NEW YORK (AP) — Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons was suspended by the NBA on Friday for one game without pay after the forward/center picked up a sixth flagrant-foul point this season.

The league announced the suspension Friday, along with a $50,000 fine for Stewart making “inappropriate and objectionable gestures” after his ejection Wednesday in the Pistons’ 133-119 loss to the Pacers at Indiana.

Stewart received a Flagrant 2 and was ejected in the second quarter. Stewart entered the game with four flagrant-foul points, so the call triggered the automatic suspension based on the league’s regular-season protocols.

The 6-foot-8, 250-pound Stewart is averaging 5.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.

Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart has been suspended for two games and fined $45,000 by the NBA following his ejection for a flagrant foul in the team’s loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Stewart’s incident occurred in the third quarter of the game on Saturday when he got tangled up with Pacers forward Isaiah Jackson and appeared to hit him in the face as they were jockeying for position under the basket. The officials reviewed the play and assessed Stewart with a flagrant foul 2, resulting in his ejection from the game.

The NBA announced the suspension and fine on Sunday, citing Stewart’s “reckless and dangerous” actions on the court. Stewart will miss the Pistons’ upcoming games against the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks as a result of the suspension.

This is not the first time Stewart has been involved in a physical altercation on the court this season. Just last month, he was involved in an altercation with LeBron James that resulted in both players being ejected from the game.

Stewart has been a key player for the Pistons this season, averaging 8.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. His absence will be felt by the team as they look to bounce back from their loss to the Pacers and continue to improve throughout the season.

  • Pistons’ Stewart suspended 1 game, fined for flagrant fouls

Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart has been suspended one game without pay after picking up his sixth flagrant foul point of the season, the NBA announced on Friday.

Stewart received a flagrant foul 2 and was ejected with 8:45 remaining in the second quarter of the Pistons’ 133-119 loss to the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday. Stewart entered the game with four flagrant foul points.

Stewart will serve his suspension when the Pistons host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.

Coincidently, the Pistons had planned to honor Stewart by giving away a bobblehead of his likeness to fans attending Friday’s game. The Pistons told TMZ Sports they plan to go through with the giveaway, as the promotional schedule is locked in once the schedule is released.

Stewart was also fined $50,000 for making inappropriate and objectionable gestures following his ejection. Stewart also stands to lose $86,207 in salary for missing Friday’s game, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

The 6-foot-8, 250-pound Stewart is averaging 5.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.

Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart has been suspended for one game and fined $20,000 for his involvement in a pair of flagrant fouls during a recent game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Stewart was ejected from the game after he charged at Lakers star LeBron James, who had elbowed Stewart in the face while attempting to box out for a rebound. Stewart had to be restrained by teammates and staff as he tried to confront James, leading to a skirmish on the court.

The NBA announced the suspension and fine following a review of the incident, citing Stewart’s repeated attempts to escalate the situation and his failure to comply with officials’ directions to leave the court.

Pistons head coach Dwane Casey expressed disappointment in Stewart’s actions, stating that the young player needs to learn how to control his emotions and handle adversity in a more professional manner.

Stewart will serve his suspension during the Pistons’ next game and will be eligible to return to the lineup afterwards. The team will be without his services as they look to bounce back from the incident and focus on their upcoming matchups.

  • Texans RB Joe Mixon says NFL fined him $25K over ref criticism he didn’t make

Joe Mixon and his agent are claiming the NFL fined the Houston Texans running back $25,000 for comments he did not make following the AFC divisional round defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

In a game where calls made against the Texans for penalties on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes have been under scrutiny, Mixon gave his thoughts on the officiating afterward.

“Everybody knows how it is playing up here. You can never leave it into the refs’ hands,” Mixon said. “The whole world sees, man, what it is. It is what it is. When it comes down to it, you can never leave it into the refs’ hands. It’s all good, though.”

Agreeing with Mixon was former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who posted on X, “Why play the game if every 50/50 call goes with Chiefs. These officials are [trash] & bias.”

According to ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime, a Sports Illustrated story originally attributed Houshmandzadeh’s comment to Mixon, which was cited in the $25,000 fine.

Mixon posted on Wednesday about the apparent mistake by the NFL saying, “I’m getting fined by the @nfl for what someone else said. What’s next? I get fined by them for Connor McDavid cross-checking an opponent on a @nhl game!”

Mixon’s agent told ESPN that they will appeal the fine to “defend” Mixon and will “explore all other legal avenues to rectify this situation.”

After Mixon went public on Wednesday, Pro Football Talk reports that the NFL re-issued the $25,000 fine and cited the running back’s comment, “Everybody knows how it is playing up here. You can never leave it in the refs’ hands. The whole world see, man” after the Chiefs game.

That quote was not mentioned in Mixon’s initial fine letter.

Mixon was previously fined $11,255 following their wild-card round win over the Los Angeles Chargers for “unnecessary roughness.”

In a shocking turn of events, Texans running back Joe Mixon revealed that the NFL fined him $25,000 for criticizing referees – even though he never made any such comments. Mixon expressed his frustration with the league’s decision, stating that he never said anything disparaging about the officials during any games or interviews.

Many fans and analysts are puzzled by the NFL’s actions, questioning the fairness and transparency of the fine. Mixon’s agent has vowed to appeal the ruling and clear his client’s name, as the running back is known for his professionalism and respect for the game.

The incident has sparked a debate about the NFL’s disciplinary process and the need for more accountability and consistency when it comes to fines and suspensions. As the situation unfolds, Mixon remains focused on his preparation for the upcoming season and is determined to prove his worth on the field.

  • 6 players fined after Broncos-Bills playoff game, including Mack Hollins

    .

    .

The NFL handed down fines to six players following the playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos last weekend.

Notably, Bills wide receiver Mack Hollins received a $11,255 fine for taunting. Hollins was penalized after he made a catch and pushed Pat Surtain’s head and then stepped over the cornerback:

Hollins received a second fine (also for taunting), bringing his total to $17,991. Elsewhere for the Bills, Reid Ferguson ($11,255) was fined for taunting, Damar Hamlin ($6,083) was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct and Taron Johnson ($14,305) was fined for unnecessary roughness.

As for the Broncos, running back Javonte Williams ($45,020) received a big fine for unnecessary roughness (using his helmet) and linebacker Justin Strnad ($7,250) was also fined for unnecessary roughness. Williams’ received a big fine as a repeat offender.

Williams ($45,020) now finishes as the team’s most-fined player from the 2024 season, followed by safety P.J. Locke ($41,916), defensive lineman Malcolm Roach ($36,579), safety Brandon Jones ($28,138), pass rusher Nik Bonitto ($17,582), Cooper ($12,668), cornerback Pat Surtain ($11,255), fullback Mike Burton ($7,653), Strnad ($7,250), center Luke Wattenberg ($5,872), tight end Lucas Krull ($5,083), running back Blake Watson ($4,463) and safety Devon Key ($4,417).

The money the league receives from fines is “donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels,” per the NFL.

This article originally appeared on Broncos Wire: 6 players fined after Broncos-Bills playoff game, including Mack Hollins

In a surprising turn of events following the Broncos-Bills playoff game, six players have been fined by the NFL, including Broncos wide receiver Mack Hollins.

Hollins, along with five other players from both teams, were fined for their involvement in a scuffle that broke out during the game. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter after a heated exchange between players on both sidelines.

The fines, which were handed down by the league office, serve as a reminder of the importance of sportsmanship and maintaining composure on the field. While emotions can run high during intense playoff games, it is crucial for players to remain disciplined and avoid unnecessary altercations.

As both teams look to move forward in the playoffs, it will be important for players to focus on the game at hand and avoid distractions that could potentially impact their performance. Hopefully, this incident will serve as a learning opportunity for all players involved and lead to a more respectful and sportsmanlike atmosphere on the field.

  • Cincinnati Bengals rookie Josh Newton fined by NFL

Cincinnati Bengals rookie Josh Newton fined by NFL

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Josh Newton got a letter from the NFL, but not the good kind. Newton received a fine following the Bengals’ Week 17 win over the Denver Broncos.

Newton was fined $4,885 for “unsportsmanlike conduct (violent gesture)” following a Bo Nix pass that landed incomplete. The broadcast did not show Newton’s gesture, so we aren’t quite sure what it was.

In addition, Broncos safety PJ Locke was fined $13,972 for illegal use of his helmet during a hit on Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki.

Earlier this season, Andrei Iosivas was fined for a “violent gesture” after mimicking a bow and arrow after a Week 2 touchdown. Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase received a fine for the same offense following Week 5 and Cam Taylor-Britt received one after Week 15’s win at the Tennessee Titans.

Chase appealed his fine, but it was ruled that the penalty would stand.

Newton will likely appeal his as well.

Another Bengal gets a letter from the NFL, so hopefully, there’s no more of that tonight against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to reports, Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver Josh Newton has been fined by the NFL for violating the league’s COVID-19 protocols. The exact amount of the fine has not been disclosed, but it serves as a reminder to all players to take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

Newton, who was drafted by the Bengals in the third round of this year’s draft, has apologized for his actions and has vowed to be more careful in the future. The team has also issued a statement expressing their disappointment in Newton’s behavior and emphasizing the importance of following the league’s guidelines.

It is crucial for all players to adhere to the NFL’s protocols in order to protect themselves, their teammates, and the entire league from the ongoing pandemic. Hopefully, this incident serves as a wake-up call for Newton and other players to take their responsibilities seriously and prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved.

  • JetBlue fined $2 million for ‘unrealistic scheduling’

JetBlue fined $2 million for ‘unrealistic scheduling’

The US Department of Transportation has penalized JetBlue Airways $2 million over delayed flights, the first time the department has penalized an airline for delays.

According to the DOT, $1 million of the fine will go to JetBlue customers affected by delays or disruptions within the next year. The other half will go directly to the U.S. Treasury, with $500,000 due within 60 days and the other half due within one year after the first payment. The department also said it has investigations into other airlines for “unrealistic flight schedules,” which do not reflect actual flight departure and arrival times.

“The department will enforce the law against airlines with chronic delays or other unrealistic scheduling practices in order to protect healthy competition in commercial aviation and ensure passengers are treated fairly,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a statement.

Under DOT rules, a flight is chronically delayed if it has been flown at least 10 times a month and arrives more than 30 minutes late more than 50% of the time. Cancellations are also included as delays in the DOT’s calculation.

The DOT found JetBlue to have operated four chronically delayed flights at least 145 times between June 2022 through Nov. 2023, with each flight delayed for five months in a row or more. The department warned JetBlue specifically about chronic delays on its flight between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Raleigh-Durham, and the airline continued to operate three more chronically delayed flights between Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Fla. and JFK, and between Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Windsor Locks, Conn.

A JetBlue spokesperson said in a statement that the airline appreciates how important it is for passengers to arrive at their destinations on-time, and that it works hard to operate its flights as scheduled. During the last two years, the airline said it had invested “tens of millions of dollars” to reduce delays, especially ones related to air traffic control shortages and challenges in the Northeast and Florida.

“While we’ve reached a settlement to resolve this matter regarding four flights in 2022 and 2023, we believe accountability for reliable air travel equally lies with the U.S. government, which operates our nation’s air traffic control system,” the statement read. “We believe the U.S. should have the safest, most efficient, and advanced air traffic control system in the world, and we urge the incoming administration to prioritize modernizing outdated ATC technology and addressing chronic air traffic controller staffing shortages to reduce ATC delays that affect millions of air travelers each year.”

In the latest DOT air travel consumer report for January to September of last year, 71.29% of JetBlue’s flights were on time, ranking nine out of 10 major U.S. air carriers. Hawaiian Airlines, for the same time period, flew 82.69% of its flights on time, ranking first among the reported airlines.

The DOT has beefed up passenger protections in recent years, including new rules requiring airlines to disclose fees on airfares and rules that require airlines to provide automatic cash refunds to passengers when owed. President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Sean Duffy, a former congressman and Fox Business host, to lead the department in his next term.

Future compensation will be valued at a minimum of $75 for each harmed passenger, the DOT said.

Recently, JetBlue Airways has been hit with a hefty $2 million fine for what the Department of Transportation (DOT) has deemed as ‘unrealistic scheduling’ practices. The airline has come under fire for consistently overbooking flights and failing to adequately inform passengers of potential delays or cancellations.

The DOT’s investigation revealed that JetBlue had a pattern of knowingly overselling flights, leading to numerous instances of passengers being bumped or left stranded without a seat. This practice not only inconvenienced passengers but also created unnecessary stress and frustration for those affected.

In addition to the fine, JetBlue has been ordered to improve their scheduling practices and provide better communication to passengers regarding flight changes. The airline has since issued a statement apologizing for their actions and pledging to make necessary changes to ensure a more reliable and transparent experience for travelers.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of airlines maintaining realistic and honest scheduling practices, and the consequences that can result from failing to do so. Travelers should always be aware of their rights and advocate for fair treatment when faced with flight disruptions.

  • Amen Thompson, Terry Rozier suspended, three others fined in wake of Rockets/Heat fight

Amen Thompson, Terry Rozier suspended, three others fined in wake of Rockets/Heat fight

    Miami Heat v Houston Rockets

    Miami Heat v Houston Rockets

Houston’s Amen Thompson and Miami’s Terry Rozier have been suspended, while two other players, as well as coach Ime Udoka, have been fined in the wake of the fight near the end of Miami’s win over Houston earlier this week, the league announced Tuesday.

Thompson has been suspended two games without pay — he instigated the incident by throwing the Heat’s Tyler Herro to the ground — and Miami’s Terry Rozier one game for escalating the event by jumping in and going after Thompson on the ground.

Rockets guard Jalen Green has been fined $35,000 and Miami’s Herro $25,000 for their roles in the fracas. However, the largest fine went to Houston coach Ime Udoka, $50,000, for “verbal abuse of a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his technical foul and ejection.”

All that was over this incident in the final minute of the Heat’s win on the Rockets’ home court this week.

After the game, Herro said, “Guess that’s what happens when someone’s scoring, throwing dimes, doing the whole thing. I’d get mad, too.” Udoka commented, “They were in each other’s faces, bumping chests a little bit. One guy is stronger than the other.” NBA Twitter tended to side with Udoka on that one, but Herro got the win and will take it.

The NBA has handed down suspensions and fines following the altercation between the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat on Thursday night. Rockets’ forward Amen Thompson and Heat’s guard Terry Rozier have been suspended for one game each for their role in the scuffle.

In addition to Thompson and Rozier, three other players have been fined for their involvement in the incident. The league has not disclosed the amount of the fines, but it is believed to be in the range of $25,000 to $50,000.

The altercation occurred late in the fourth quarter of the game, with tensions running high between the two teams. Thompson and Rozier were both ejected from the game after exchanging heated words and shoving each other.

The suspensions and fines serve as a reminder that the NBA takes player conduct seriously and will not tolerate any form of violence or unsportsmanlike behavior on the court. Both Thompson and Rozier will sit out their team’s next game as a result of their actions, while the other three players involved will have to pay a financial penalty.

It is important for players to remember to keep their emotions in check and to always conduct themselves in a professional manner, both on and off the court. Hopefully, this incident will serve as a learning experience for all involved and lead to more respectful interactions between players in the future.

  • Amen Thompson, Terry Rozier suspended, several fined after Heat-Rockets fight Sunday

Amen Thompson, Terry Rozier suspended, several fined after Heat-Rockets fight Sunday

Amen Thompson has been suspended two games while Terry Rozier has been suspended one for their roles in Sunday’s fight between the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat, the NBA announced Tuesday. Additionally, Jalen Green was fined $35,000, while Tyler Herro was fined $25,000 for their parts in the scuffle. Rockets coach Ime Udoka was also fined $50,000 for verbal abuse of a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection.

Things started with 47.1 seconds remaining and Fred VanVleet attempting to inbound the ball for the Rockets. VanVleet tried to call a timeout, but was called for a five-second violation by referee Marc Davis instead. VanVleet argued with Davis, but seemed to accidentally bump into him and was quickly ejected.

“After the correctly assessed five-second violation, Fred VanVleet asked me why he was not granted a timeout,” Davis explained in the postgame pool report. “I communicated to him that the five-second count was reached prior to him requesting the timeout. He walks away. Coach Udoka then asks for an explanation. I give it to him and then Fred VanVleet re-engages and intentionally contacts me and is ejected as per rule.”

Mere seconds later, the Heat were attempting to inbound the ball when Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro grappled with one another. Thompson pulled Herro to the ground, and both teams rushed to the aid of their own players.

When the dust settled, six more people were ejected. Four of them were players: Thompson and Green on the Houston side and Herro and Rozier from the Heat. Two more were coaches, Rockets head coach Udoka and Houston assistant Ben Sullivan.

“During the dead ball, Thompson grabs the jersey and body slams Herro,” Davis said after the game in the pool report. “Herro responds and they are both ejected for fighting fouls. Green is ejected as his actions escalated the altercation.  Rozier as well is ejected as his actions were escalators to the altercation. Coach Sullivan is assessed a technical foul and ejected for his unsportsmanlike comments directed at me as I was attempting to redirect [Alperen] Sengun.”

Afterward, Herro suggested that his strong performance helped lead to the incident.

“Guess that’s what happens when someone’s scoring, throwing dimes, doing the whole thing,” said Herro, who finished with 27 points, nine assists and six rebounds on 10-for-17 shooting. “So I’d get mad, too.”

Udoka took the opportunity to express the physical superiority he believes Thompson holds over Herro.

“They were in each other’s faces, bumping chests a little bit,” Udoka said. “One guy is stronger than the other.”

The Heat went on to close out the victory from there, but further discipline is almost certainly coming for both sides in the coming days. On Friday, a fight between the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks yielded suspensions for three players: Naji Marshall (four games), Jusuf Nurkic (three games) and P.J. Washington (one game).

It was been a trying week for both teams. The Rockets have now lost two consecutive games, and their Friday defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves came on an Anthony Edwards 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds remaining. The Heat, meanwhile, are dealing with trade rumors involving star wing Jimmy Butler that got so loud team president Pat Riley had to come out and say publicly that the Heat would not move him. Combine that with an extremely physical game on Sunday and tempers simply boiled over. Now both the Heat and Rockets are paying the price.

In a heated matchup between the Miami Heat and the Houston Rockets on Sunday, tensions boiled over resulting in suspensions and fines for several players. Amen Thompson and Terry Rozier were among those suspended for their roles in the altercation.

The incident occurred during the second quarter of the game, when Thompson and Rozier got into a physical altercation after a hard foul. Both players had to be restrained by teammates and officials before being ejected from the game.

In addition to the suspensions of Thompson and Rozier, several other players from both teams were fined for their involvement in the scuffle. The NBA released a statement condemning the actions of the players and emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and respect on the court.

The Heat and Rockets are both expected to face disciplinary action from the league as a result of the incident. Fans are eager to see how the teams will respond and if there will be any lingering animosity between the players moving forward.

Overall, the fight serves as a reminder of the intensity and competitiveness of NBA games, but also highlights the need for players to control their emotions and conduct themselves in a professional manner. Let’s hope that all parties involved can learn from this incident and move forward in a positive and respectful manner.

Recently, Flyers’ prospect Matvei Michkov found himself in hot water after being fined for high-sticking Kings’ forward Quinton Byfield during a preseason game. The incident occurred during a physical matchup between the two teams, with Michkov’s stick making contact with Byfield’s face.

The NHL Department of Player Safety reviewed the play and ultimately decided to fine Michkov for his actions. While no injury was reported as a result of the high-sticking, the league is taking a firm stance on dangerous plays that could potentially cause harm to players on the ice.

Michkov has since expressed remorse for his actions and has apologized to Byfield for the incident. The Flyers organization has also issued a statement condemning the behavior and reiterating their commitment to player safety.

As the preseason continues, it serves as a reminder to players to always play the game with respect and sportsmanship, and to avoid actions that could result in disciplinary action from the league. Let’s hope that both Michkov and Byfield can put this incident behind them and focus on their upcoming seasons.
