Sources – Suns’ Kevin Durant has no interest in Warriors reunion
Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant has no desire for a reunion with the Golden State Warriors, league sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Warriors have been seriously pursuing a trade before Thursday’s deadline with Durant as one of their targets. Golden State is eager to find another star to play alongside franchise star Stephen Curry.
Due to Phoenix’s 25-24 record and ninth-place standing in the West entering Wednesday, teams have been aggressively calling the Suns and have inquired about Durant.
However, sources told Charania that Durant does not want to go back to Golden State, after he helped the Warriors win back-to-back titles in two of his three seasons there.
Durant won Finals MVP in both the 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals.
The Suns hope to continue to build around Durant and Devin Booker, but it is unclear where trade talks go between now and the deadline.
According to sources close to the situation, Suns’ star Kevin Durant has no interest in reuniting with the Golden State Warriors. Despite speculation that Durant could potentially return to the team where he won two NBA championships, it appears that he is focused on leading the Suns to success.Durant, who signed with the Suns in the offseason, has been a key player for the team and has quickly become a fan favorite in Phoenix. While the Warriors have expressed interest in bringing Durant back, sources say that he is committed to his current team and is not interested in returning to Golden State.
Fans of the Suns can rest assured that Durant is fully focused on helping his team compete for a championship and is not looking to make a return to his former team. Stay tuned for more updates on Durant and the Suns as the season progresses.

Nico O’Reilly is to stay at Manchester City despite strong interest from Chelsea in a deadline day transfer.
City rate the 19-year-old midfielder extremely highly and would have demanded a buy-back clause if they were to sell.
Such a condition would not have been accepted by Chelsea and therefore after an enquiry and talks, the situation is not going to develop in this window.
It means City will retain one of their best young players and avoid a repeat of the Cole Palmer situation, which saw the England international leave for Stamford Bridge in 2023.
O’Reilly is a product of City’s academy and made his senior league debut earlier this season in the 6-0 win over Ipswich Town last month.
He has made six senior appearances in total this season including starting the Community Shield win over Manchester United back in August.
Pep Guardiola has talked up O’Reilly’s talent and his ability to play in a multitude of roles.
“I am pretty sure he can help us,” Guardiola said during City’s pre-season tour of the United States.
“He can play with us, even as a holding midfielder when Rodri is not there. We have Kalvin Phillips. I don’t know what is going to happen, but we have Kova (Mateo Kovacic), and we have Nico. I know he can play it.”

Manchester City’s young star Nico O’Reilly has reportedly attracted interest from Chelsea, but the talented midfielder has no plans to leave the Etihad Stadium anytime soon.O’Reilly, who has impressed with his performances for City’s youth teams, is seen as a bright prospect for the future. The 19-year-old has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time now, with the Blues keen to add him to their squad.
However, O’Reilly is committed to City and has no intention of moving to Stamford Bridge. The midfielder is eager to continue his development with the reigning Premier League champions and is determined to make a name for himself at the club.
City’s coaching staff have been impressed with O’Reilly’s attitude and work ethic, and believe he has the potential to become a key player for the first team in the coming years.
While Chelsea’s interest is flattering, O’Reilly is focused on his career at City and is determined to prove himself at the highest level. Fans can expect to see more of the talented midfielder in the coming seasons as he continues to progress and make his mark on the Premier League.

In a switch, Trump approves Fed’s decision to hold interest rates steady
U.S. President Donald Trump looks on as he signs an executive order in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, U.S., Jan. 31, 2025.
Carlos Barria | Reuters
President Donald Trump agreed with the Federal Reserve for its decision last week to leave interest rates unchanged, an early pivot from his previous demand that the central bank ease “immediately.”
In an exchange with reporters Sunday, Trump said holding its key borrowing level in a range between 4.25%-4.5% was the correct move for the Fed.
“I’m not surprised,” he said regarding the decision, according to multiple reports. “Holding the rates at this point was the right thing to do.”
The statement stood in stark contrast to one Trump delivered when speaking remotely to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. In a Jan. 23 appearance, Trump said he would “demand that interest rates drop immediately.”
The president has no direct authority over the Fed, though he does nominate the chairman as well as other board members. Current Chair Jerome Powell is a Trump nominee, and a frequent target of the president’s criticism.
Markets don’t expect the Fed to lower rates until at least June. In his post-meeting news conference last Wednesday, Powell repeatedly asserted that the Fed doesn’t need to be in a “hurry” to lower further after shaving a full percentage point off the fed funds rate from September to December in 2024.
The Fed’s decision-making got potentially more complicated after Trump on Saturday said he would impose aggressive tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China, the three largest U.S. trading partners. Economists worry that the tariffs will drive up prices at a time when inflation has shown signs of easing.
In a surprising turn of events, President Trump has approved the Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates steady. This decision comes after months of criticizing the Fed for raising rates too quickly, causing tensions between the President and the central bank.Trump’s approval of the Fed’s decision signals a shift in his stance on monetary policy, as he has previously called for lower interest rates to stimulate economic growth. This change in attitude could be a sign that the President is beginning to trust the Fed’s judgment and is willing to work with them to achieve economic stability.
The decision to hold interest rates steady was made at the Fed’s recent meeting, where they cited concerns about slowing global growth and trade tensions as reasons for their cautious approach. Trump’s approval of this decision could help ease concerns about potential interference in the Fed’s independence and provide reassurance to investors and markets.
Overall, this unexpected move by President Trump to support the Fed’s decision to keep interest rates steady could be a positive development for the economy and financial markets. It will be interesting to see how this newfound cooperation between the White House and the Federal Reserve plays out in the coming months.

Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins is ‘happy to stay’ at Aston Villa despite Arsenal interest
Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins is happy to stay at Aston Villa, ruling out a potential departure this window.
Watkins had been the subject of interest from Arsenal on Monday, which was swiftly rebuffed by Villa. News of Arsenal’s overtures were leaked two days later, which angered Villa’s senior staff, given it was just hours before the key Champions League fixture against Celtic.
Jhon Duran’s impending move to Al Nassr is expected to be completed on Friday, leaving Watkins as the club’s sole traditional striker. He is Villa’s top scorer in the league and Emery, speaking ahead of the trip to Molineux on Saturday, is “happy to stay” at the club this window.
“The commitment of Watkins with us is a huge commitment to defend Aston Villa,” said Emery. “He appreciates a lot how Aston Villa was always supporting him, helping him. When we joined here two years ago, how we worked with him — we are always trying to get the best of him. Now we need him, like he needed Aston Villa in the last years. The conversations we are having with him, he’s always adapting to every circumstance we have.
“Of course when some teams call us being interested in the players, it’s very good for us. Some players prefer to leave. Some players accept to be here and commit to us here and one of them is Ollie Watkins.”
Watkins has scored 11 goals and has registered nine assists across 32 appearances this season. When asked whether he could completely guarantee the 29-year-old remaining a Villa player, Emery said that was the case.
“He’s happy to stay. You can ask him but we asked him how he’s feeling every day and every year with Aston Villa and he’s happy here.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, was asked about his club’s potential deal for Watkins at a news conference earlier on Friday and said: “Not gonna talk about it. We are proactively looking.”

Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins is ‘happy to stay’ at Aston Villa despite Arsenal interestFormer Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is content at his current club and has no intention of leaving, despite interest from the Gunners.
Emery, who now manages Spanish side Villarreal, spoke highly of Watkins and praised his performances for Villa this season. The 25-year-old has been in fine form, scoring 12 goals in 22 Premier League appearances so far.
Speaking to reporters, Emery said, “Ollie Watkins is a fantastic player and he is happy at Aston Villa. I don’t see him leaving anytime soon. He is a key player for them and I believe he is focused on helping the team achieve their goals this season.”
Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing Watkins last summer before he joined Villa from Brentford for a club-record fee. However, it seems that the striker is committed to his current club and is not looking for a move away anytime soon.
Villa fans will be delighted to hear that Watkins is happy at the club, as he has been a crucial part of their success this season. With Emery’s comments putting an end to any transfer speculation, Villa can now focus on their push for European qualification in the Premier League.

#Unai #Emery #Ollie #Watkins #happy #stay #Aston #Villa #Arsenal #interestWhat I’m hearing on De’Aaron Fox as Kings navigate flurry of interest across NBA
The Athletic has live coverage of the 2025 NBA trade deadline.
It has been two days since De’Aaron Fox became the most prominent young NBA star available heading into the Feb. 6 trade deadline, with the Sacramento Kings deciding to field trade offers for the 27-year-old former All-Star whose concerns about his long-term future in Sacramento have been a driving force in this situation.
Per league sources, the Kings continue to navigate a flurry of interest that has come their way as a result of the revelation. One league source indicated that more than half the teams in the NBA have inquired. The prospect of Fox being moved, and his eight-year tenure with the Kings coming to an end, has never been more real.
As expected, league sources say those trade talks include the team that is known to be Fox’s preferred destination: the San Antonio Spurs. Yet while it remains to be seen if Fox will become Victor Wembanyama’s co-star in the next week, or if the Spurs might be able to push the negotiations into the offseason as a way to simplify their roster-building process while not losing out on Fox to another team, key factors here will have to be figured out if Fox is going to land in San Antonio.
Chief among them? The possible Stephon Castle inclusion, or potential lack thereof.
The Kings are known to covet the Spurs rookie guard who was taken fourth overall out of Connecticut in the NBA Draft last June, but there is serious skepticism in league circles that San Antonio will be willing to include him. If that’s ultimately the case, the Kings would have to determine whether there’s an acceptable pathway to doing the deal without him. That’s not the end of San Antonio’s considerations, either.
While the Spurs (20-24) have lost eight of their last 10 games while falling to 12th in the Western Conference, they’ve still made major strides from their 22-win campaign of last season. Veteran point guard Chris Paul, who signed a one-year deal worth $11 million to join them in July, has been a driving force in that progress while earning significant respect within the organization along the way. For the Spurs’ purposes, it would be easier to integrate Fox in the summer while letting the 39-year-old Paul finish this productive season in his twilight. Fox, who turned down multiple extension offers from the Kings leading up to this point, has one season left on his contract ($37 million).

De’Aaron Fox trade scenarios: Could Kings star team up with Victor Wembanyama?
Beyond the Spurs, who have the luxury of operating with the knowledge that Fox is likely to sign an extension if he comes their way, the Kings’ attention has no doubt turned to teams that must view Fox as a rental. The question there, it seems, is whether the Kings are motivated enough to truly consider offers that would likely be far less attractive than the Spurs’ because of the risk factor involved for teams that roll the dice. The mood of the team could certainly play a part here, as league sources close to several Kings players expressed frustration that this situation has become such an ill-timed distraction.
The Kings (24-23) are tied with the Golden State Warriors for 10th in the West. They lost to Philadelphia on Wednesday, falling 117-104 to a Sixers team that was without Joel Embiid and Paul George, but had won 11 of the previous 15 games under interim coach Doug Christie.
As the Kings front office continues to canvass the league for solutions to their uncertain future, with known involvement in several situations beyond Fox, this much is clear: They do not see Jimmy Butler as the answer. Per league sources, the Kings are not pursuing the disgruntled Miami star who is serving an indefinite suspension while Heat officials attempt to trade him.

NBA Trade Board 2.0: De’Aaron Fox, Jimmy Butler and more big names on market
That makes sense, too. The Fox situation is headache enough on its own. And as Fox has made clear for quite some time now, his aspirations are higher than this current Kings plight.
“I want to make sure that we’re in that position to be competing and competing at a high level for a long time, not just fighting for a playoff spot,” he told me in mid-October. “Obviously, the way that the West is going, we have to continue to get better as players and as a team, as an organization. And, I mean, I’m not saying I’m not staying or that I am staying. But I would love to be here, and I want to make sure that we’re competing at a high level.
“We don’t want to have our peak season being two years ago and just making the playoffs. We want to continue to build on that and just continue to try to change this culture. I think it’s changed already, but you want to build a championship culture, and you have to be able to do those things before you even get to the top. … I definitely feel like we have the talent to (contend). But now, it’s, ‘Can we execute that plan?’”
The plan, quite clearly, has changed.

De’Aaron Fox has been a hot topic of conversation lately as the Sacramento Kings navigate a flurry of interest from teams across the NBA. Rumors are swirling about potential trades and the future of the talented young point guard. Many sources are reporting that the Kings are fielding offers for Fox, but are hesitant to part ways with their star player. Fox has been a key piece of the Kings’ rebuilding efforts and has shown tremendous growth and potential in his time with the team.
However, with so many teams expressing interest in Fox, it’s hard to ignore the possibility of a trade. Some reports suggest that the Kings are considering their options and weighing the potential return they could get for Fox.
Fans are divided on the issue, with some hoping that the Kings will hold onto Fox and continue to build around him, while others are open to the idea of trading him for the right deal.
As the rumors continue to swirl, it’s clear that the situation is fluid and anything could happen. It will be interesting to see how the Kings ultimately decide to handle the flurry of interest in De’Aaron Fox.

Since the end of the 2024 college football season, the UCLA Bruins have made significant changes to their coaching staff as they try to keep pace in the Big Ten.
UCLA’s most notable move to their staff was their decision to cut bait with offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. In one season with the Bruins, Bieniemy struggled to generate a balanced offense and contributed to some of UCLA’s pitfalls in 2024.
But over a month after Bieniemy and the Bruins parted ways in December of 2024, the Bruins’ former offensive coordinator is garnering attention in the NFL.
In a post on X from Fox Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Bieniemy was a leading candidate in the New England Patriots offensive coordinator search and has “spoken with multiple NFL teams.”
Though there is no word on which teams have expressed interest in the former college and NFL coordinator, as coaching staffs across the league begin to fill out, Bieniemy should be considered a serious candidate for offensive coordinator openings.
Former Bruins offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is generating significant interest from multiple NFL teams for their head coaching vacancies. Bieniemy, who helped lead UCLA’s offense to new heights during his time with the Bruins, has proven himself to be a highly talented and innovative offensive mind. With his track record of success at the college level, it’s no surprise that Bieniemy is now being pursued by NFL teams looking to inject some new energy and creativity into their offenses. His ability to develop and maximize the potential of his players, as well as his strategic play-calling, make him an attractive candidate for teams in need of a fresh perspective.
As the interview process continues and teams weigh their options, it’s clear that Bieniemy’s name will be one to watch as the NFL coaching carousel heats up. Stay tuned for more updates on his potential landing spot in the league.

Liverpool’s Arne Slot want Mohamed Salah to stay amid Saudi interest
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has said the club are keen for Mohamed Salah to stay beyond this summer, insisting he is not surprised by interest in the player from Saudi Arabia.
Salah’s deal is set to expire in June and the Egypt international revealed last month that he is “far away” from agreeing a new contract at Anfield.
Salah has long been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with the country’s sport minister minster, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, this week telling Piers Morgan Uncensored that he would “love” to have him in the Saudi Pro League.
“It would be a surprise if anyone said they didn’t want Mo Salah,” Slot said when asked about Al Faisal’s comments in a news conference on Friday.
“He has done so well for so many years, that everyone probably wants him.
“He has done so well without my advice so he can keep doing what is best for his career, even without my advice. My advice to him would be different to the one [of Al Faisal].
“Everybody wants him, including us. We of course want him to extend as well. That is clear. But I am not surprised someone wants him. He has done so many smart things in his career, so he will make the right decision for himself and hopefully for us as well.”
In addition to Salah, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold are also out of contract this summer, with the latter having been the subject of an approach from Real Madrid last month.
Asked whether he has offered his own opinion to the trio about their futures, Slot said: “Of course. I speak with these players, not every day like Richard [Hughes] but quite a lot.
“It would be ridiculous if in all those times we have not spoken about the future. Of course we do. But that’s not something I’m going to discuss [with the media]. It is not only with the three that are out of contract, you also talk about the future with other players as well. It is a non-stop process talking to your players.”
Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, has made it clear that he wants star forward Mohamed Salah to stay at the club amid reported interest from Saudi Arabia.Salah, who has been in scintillating form for Liverpool this season, has been linked with a mega-money move to a Saudi club in the upcoming transfer window. However, Slot has expressed his desire for the Egyptian international to remain at Anfield and continue his stellar performances for the team.
Speaking to reporters, Slot said, “Mohamed is a vital player for us and we want him to stay. He is a world-class talent and we believe he can achieve even greater success with Liverpool. We are hopeful that he will continue to be a key part of our squad in the future.”
Salah’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in 2023, and negotiations for a new deal are reportedly ongoing. The club is keen to tie down the 29-year-old to a long-term contract and ward off any potential suitors.
With Salah’s importance to the team undeniable, Liverpool fans will be hoping that he commits his future to the club and continues to light up the Premier League with his goals and assists. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

#Liverpools #Arne #Slot #Mohamed #Salah #stay #Saudi #interestJosh Giddey Had Been a Player of Interest for the San Antonio Spurs
Nobody on the Chicago Bulls is safe during trade season!
While most rumors have centered around the availability of Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, we have heard that Arturas Karnisovas is open to any and all business. There is really no other way to go about things when you sit 20-28 and on the cusp of a third straight Play-In Tournament appearance. The Bulls must get out of the middle and pave a new path toward legitimate competitiveness. This deadline is an opportunity to start laying the asphalt.
Does this mean we should expect a trade to get done that involves someone not named LaVine, Vucevic, or Lonzo Ball? Not necessarily. But it does mean we shouldn’t necessarily be shocked when any Bulls player appears in the rumor mill, including one of their newest additions.
In a recent article by The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer, Josh Giddey was named as someone the San Antonio Spurs have had on their radar.
“Another name that’s always lingered as a potential franchise point guard of Spurs interest: Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball. The Hornets have never welcomed trade inquiries for their eccentric ball handler. And yet the Spurs, sources said, have tried to register their interest in Ball during previous transaction cycles.
Chicago’s Josh Giddey has likewise been a young guard that San Antonio has envisioned possibly pairing with Wembanyama down the road.”
You can read Jake Fischer’s full intel piece and subscribe to The Stein Line newsletter here.
Spurs Have Thought About Josh Giddey
Let’s be very clear, we should not consider this an active trade rumor … yet. Fischer is not saying that the San Antonio Spurs have recently contacted the Bulls about a Josh Giddey trade or even plan to in the near future. He merely mentions the guard alongside several others as someone the franchise has thought about as an eventual target. These kinds of hypothetical talks go on behind the scenes all the time.
Regardless, hearing about any level of interest in a Bulls player right now is intriguing for all the reasons we talked about above. Nobody on the team is safe. With that in mind, would it hurt Karnisovas to give the Spurs a call? I’m assuming those conversations would be rebuffed with all the ongoing De’Aaron Fox reports. But it can never hurt to check in, right?
This also feels like somewhat significant news when we consider Giddey’s future. While the Spurs might not have an interest in trading for the guard, he is positioned to hit restricted free agency this upcoming summer. The Bulls chose not to extend Giddey after acquiring him with only one year left on his deal in a direct swap for Alex Caruso. So perhaps Fischer’s “down the road” comment relates to a potential pursuit of him this summer?
For what it’s worth, I could definitely envision a world where the Bulls allow the market to set Giddey’s price. His first season in Chicago has left a lot to be desired thus far, particularly when we consider his poor defense and around-the-rim efficiency. Likewise, Karnisovas has already been burned by his five-year, $90 million contract for Patrick Williams. Shouldn’t the goal be to avoid that happening again at all costs, particularly as you embark on a rebuild? There isn’t a lot of risk in allowing a player to hit the market when you have the right to match any offer sheet!
With the De’Aaron Fox stuff currently swirling, I think this is a rumor we can place in the back of the filing cabinet for now. However, if a deal doesn’t get done between the Spurs and Kings, this may be something worth discussing more as the offseason approaches. San Antonio needs a future facilitator to pair with big man Victor Wembanyama, and we all know Giddey is overflowing with playmaking upside.
© Dale Zanine-Imagn Images
Josh Giddey, the highly touted Australian prospect, has reportedly been on the radar of the San Antonio Spurs leading up to the 2021 NBA Draft. The 18-year-old guard has been turning heads with his impressive playmaking ability and basketball IQ, making him an intriguing option for the Spurs.Giddey, who played for the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL, has drawn comparisons to NBA All-Star Ben Simmons for his size, passing skills, and versatility on the court. Standing at 6’8″, Giddey has the ability to play multiple positions and create mismatches for opposing defenses.
With the Spurs known for their player development and emphasis on team basketball, Giddey seems like a natural fit for the organization. His unselfish play and high basketball IQ align with the Spurs’ values, and he could potentially thrive under the guidance of head coach Gregg Popovich.
While it remains to be seen if the Spurs will ultimately select Giddey in the draft, it’s clear that he has caught their attention. With his combination of size, skill, and potential, Giddey could be a valuable addition to the Spurs’ young core as they look to build for the future. Stay tuned to see if Josh Giddey ends up in a Spurs jersey come draft night.
