Caitlin Clark’s BF Connor McCaffery supports brother Patrick’s mental health initiative
Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, extended his support for his brother, Butler men’s basketball star, Patrick McCaffery’s mental health project. The Bulldogs forward made a post about the initiative on his Instagram page, which the older McCaffery, an assistant coach for the team, shared on his Instagram story on Thursday.
“I took time for my mental health. You can, too,” the post was captioned.

Connor played college basketball with the Hawkeyes before retiring from playing to become an assistant coach at Butler.
Like his older brother, Patrick began his collegiate career at Iowa before transferring to Butler for his senior year. Averaging 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists on 43.0 percent shooting per game this season, Patrick has established himself as a key member of the Bulldogs.
Connor McCaffery’s Butler defeat De Paul without GF Caitlin Clark in attendance
Butler men’s basketball’s 86-69 victory over DePaul must have been pleasing for assistant coach Connor McCaffery, who, though, didn’t have Caitlin Clark cheering from the stands.
Known as his “lucky charm,” Clark has become a regular presence in Butler’s games, showing her support for the team in both winning and challenging moments.
However, the Indiana Fever star was absent as the Bulldogs took down the Blue Demons inside the Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 25. But the McCaffery family showed up for the game and even took photos together, which was shared on the team’s page on X.
The win is Butler’s second in three games, making it the first time the Bulldogs had consecutive wins at Hinkle Fieldhouse since four straight from Nov. 11-Dec. 3.
Pierre Brooks II scored a double-double to lead Butler with a career-high 29 points and 13 rebounds. Andre Screen recorded 17 points, scoring a perfect 7 for 7 from the field, and added eight rebounds.
Former Indiana basketball guard CJ Gunn had 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and four rebounds while Patrick McCaffery contributed a career-high five assists.
Meanwhile, Butler failed to extend their winning streak after enduring a 10th loss in 12 games on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs fell to a 78-69 defeat to the No. 9 Marquette Golden Eagles despite making a strong start to the game.
Jahmyl Telfort led Butler with 24 points while Patrick McCaffery finished the game with 12 points after sparking a 14-0 run with two 3-pointers in the second half.
Up next, Butler (9-12, 2-8) will play Georgetown on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Chinese actress Zhao Lusi, who was unable to walk or speak after being diagnosed with conversion disorder in December, made her comeback after just one month.
Conversion disorder is a rare mental health condition that causes physical symptoms without an underlying physical cause. Those suffering from it can have serious symptoms such as sudden blindness, paralysis, or seizures.
Lusi, 26, looked to be in good spirits when she attended a charity event last Saturday (Jan 25) for Viee, a beverage brand which she endorses.
Although she could stand and walk, she still required the help of a walking stick.
During a live broadcast, the star said that she rushed to return to work before the Chinese New Year to show her fans and family that she had recovered and to reassure them of her well-being.
She shared that she was doing well, and despite her weight dropping to 36.9 kg at one point, she has since gained 8 pounds (about 4 kg) during her recovery.
Recalling her illness, Lusi admitted that experiencing paralysis and speech loss made her feel distressed.
“It was really hard for me to face myself during that period, so I feel so grateful to be in this state now,” she said, adding that she believed that her past good deeds brought her blessings for recovery.
Lusi encouraged those facing illness to remain hopeful: “As an artiste, I’ve already been well compensated in many aspects, so I hope you, outside the spotlight, will keep going.”
She also expressed gratitude to Viee for their understanding, joking: “For now, I don’t have any pending compensation claims.”
Due to her illness, Lusi had to suspend all activities, sparking rumours that she might face billions in breach-of-contract penalties and hence her hurry to return to work.
She was also mocked as a “medical marvel” for her quick recovery.
In response, Lusi said: “Recently, I saw people calling me a medical marvel. Drink more Viee and share that strength with everyone.”
After the event, the keyword “Zhao Lusi responds to medical marvel” quickly trended on Weibo and she was praised for her positivity.
“The queen turns haters’ attacks into jokes,” wrote one fan, while another said: “So-called medical miracles don’t exist; love just makes people stronger. Jia you, Lusi!”
Chinese actress Zhao Lusi has been making headlines recently for her quick recovery from a mental health condition, leading some to mock her as a “medical marvel.”The 29-year-old actress, known for her roles in popular dramas like “The Long Ballad” and “Love is Sweet,” recently took a break from the spotlight to focus on her mental well-being. She was reportedly diagnosed with anxiety and depression, prompting her to seek treatment and take some time off from work.
However, just a few months later, Zhao Lusi made a surprising comeback, appearing cheerful and energetic in public appearances. Her quick recovery has raised eyebrows among some netizens, with many questioning the authenticity of her mental health struggles.
Some have even gone as far as to mock Zhao Lusi as a “medical marvel” for her seemingly miraculous recovery. Critics have accused her of faking her mental health issues for attention or sympathy, while others have labeled her recovery as suspicious and unbelievable.
Despite the backlash, Zhao Lusi has remained unapologetic about her decision to prioritize her mental well-being and seek treatment. She has openly shared her struggles with anxiety and depression, hoping to break the stigma surrounding mental health in the entertainment industry.
It is important to remember that mental health is a complex and personal issue, and recovery looks different for everyone. Instead of mocking or questioning Zhao Lusi’s journey, we should commend her for seeking help and taking steps to improve her well-being. Let’s support and uplift those who are brave enough to speak out about their mental health struggles, rather than tearing them down.

The Iron Curtain had already collapsed when Maria Bakalova was growing up in Bulgaria, but old sensibilities still lingered: as a girl she was discouraged from playing the “aggressive and muscular” electric guitar (she learned the flute instead) and life there was still largely circumscribed by national borders. But Bakalova, who portrays the Czech-born Ivana Trump in “The Apprentice,” found avenues for expansion, in part, as a way of rebelling. “It didn’t feel right to be put in a box because of your gender,” says Bakalova, who burst on the scene with her Oscar-nominated performance in “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.” “Knowing I didn’t get a chance to pursue something had some impact on my development and maybe made me stronger and a bit more daring.”
Bakalova’s first path out was singing, and by age 11, she was traveling throughout Western Europe to competitions, much as Ivana Trump had gotten out via national ski teams.
In a recent interview, “The Apprentice” star Maria Bakalova opened up about the challenges of playing the role of Ivana Trump on the hit reality show. Bakalova revealed that she struggled to stay in character off the set, and that it took a toll on her mental health.“Ivana Trump is such a larger-than-life character, and it was difficult for me to switch off and be myself when the cameras weren’t rolling,” Bakalova said. “I found myself slipping into her persona in everyday life, and it started to affect my mental health.”
Bakalova went on to explain that she sought therapy to help her navigate the challenges of playing such a demanding role. “I realized that I needed to set boundaries between myself and the character I was portraying,” she said. “I needed to prioritize my own mental health and well-being.”
Despite the difficulties she faced, Bakalova is proud of the work she did on “The Apprentice” and the impact it had on her career. “Playing Ivana Trump was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I learned so much from the experience,” she said. “But it’s important to remember that at the end of the day, I am not just a character – I am Maria Bakalova, and I need to take care of myself.”
Bakalova’s honesty and vulnerability in sharing her struggles serve as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing mental health, even in the midst of pursuing our dreams.

Whitmer signs bills addressing firearm safety, mental health
LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a package of bills Wednesday on a range of topics intended to help increase safety at schools and within communities, her office announced.
“I’m proud to sign these 19 commonsense bills that will keep Michigan families and neighborhoods safe from gun violence and other violent crimes,” the Democratic governor said in the announcement.
New stipulations among the list of 19 bills include the following:
- Requiring information about the safe storage of firearms to be distributed to parents of students. State officials estimate 150,000 Michigan children live in homes where there is an unsecured firearm; and also cited statistics that more than 70% of school shootings involve a firearm owned by a family member and taken by the shooter.
- Ensuring the Michigan State Police destroy all firearms that were turned in via a gun buyback program. “This legislation ensures when we destroy a firearm, our current practice of destroying all parts of the firearm will remain the standard now and for the future,” said Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP.
- Creating a standard response wording and terminology for schools to use during emergency situations. The goal is to help first responders answer emergency calls “quickly and efficiently,” the announcement said.
- Creating the School Safety and Mental Health Commission within the MSP. The goal is to focus on improving mental health outcomes among school-age youths, including a reduction in suicide rates.
- Expanding the definition of a hate crime, to include amending the sentencing guidelines. The goal is to “help keep Michiganders of all backgrounds safer in their communities.”
- Extending the time limit in which sexual assault charges can be filed. Under the new law, an indictment on a charge of criminal sexual conduct in the second or third degree can be filed by the victim’s 42nd birthday, regardless of when the incident happened.
- Allowing Medicaid to cover the cost of community violence intervention services. The goal is to help prevent violent events before they occur.
“Students and educators need to feel safe in our schools, and these bills are an important step to helping ensure that,” Chandra Madafferi, President and CEO of the Michigan Education Association, said in the announcement. “By making sure families are aware of the best ways to keep guns stored safely, schools can be part of the solution in preventing firearms from falling into the wrong hands.”
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a package of bills aimed at addressing firearm safety and mental health in the state. The bills, which have been in the works for months, come in response to a rise in gun violence and concerns about mental health access and support. One of the key components of the legislation is a requirement for gun owners to securely store their firearms when they are not in use. This measure is intended to prevent accidental shootings, suicides, and thefts of firearms that can contribute to gun violence.
Additionally, the bills provide funding for mental health services and support programs, aiming to increase access to care for individuals struggling with mental health issues. By addressing the root causes of gun violence, such as mental health crises, the hope is to reduce the overall rates of gun-related incidents in the state.
Governor Whitmer emphasized the importance of finding a balance between protecting Second Amendment rights and ensuring public safety. These bills represent a step towards achieving that balance and creating a safer, healthier Michigan for all residents.
